now that Ireland & Sherman are gone, we hate Aponte?
you girls have to get a life. either you're going through puberty or menopause, I don't know which...
now let's make a list of all those bad, incompetent, ugly people we need to purge in 2014 after we get rid of the "devil woman":

    1) Ireland/gone
    2) Aponte/under attack
    3) Philbin/next up?
    4) Tannehill/not franchise quality, a loser, has to go... QB should be a priority in the draft
    5) Sherman/gone
    6) Brian Gaines/the Ireland clone is part of the problem, not the solution
    7) Ross/because of his incompetent meddling, the franchise is a mess... he's really not one of us

and when we get rid of them there's the rest of our sorry-azz roster to hate:

    1) Wallace makes too much money
    2) Thomas & Miller can't run, Thigpen has no place on any NFL roster
    3) Dion is a bust, a wasted first round pick... Starks too old & has a bad attitude, not worth the money
    4) scrap the entire 2013 disappointing, underachieving Miami draft. it sucks!
    5) we need a complete revision of the offensive line. fire all of them, even the bench... only Pouncey is a keeper
    6) Patterson is made of glass, Nolan Carroll plays like a little girl, Redshad Jones a disappointment & Grimes won't be worth the market price to keep in Miami
    7) Wheeler & Ellerbee are not worth their contracts & cannot stop the run

not to worry, I've spent a life-time in Dolfandom & know the list will never end.
every fan-base deserves it's franchise :couch:

    NaboCane, tell me...

    1) have we never had a proven bull in the drivers seat since Shula?
what did Jimmy Johnson do wrong? would you consider Parcells one of the great football minds & coaches of all time? what destroyed Nick Saban. Saban and Bear Bryant are the only coaches to win an SEC championship at two different schools. certainly Saban had great potential in the NFL. why only one season with Miami?
where did they go wrong? why did the best three coaches since Shula simply walk away from the franchise? yes, I know we hate them... that must be it.

    2) our all-time best QB was Bob Griese & Dan Marino has a statue & an adoration bestowed upon him unequaled in franchise history, however, never brought home the bacon. be it as it may, there were other high profile & proven QB's to grace the franchise for however briefly like Culpepper, Kosar, Trent Green & Pennington. how's that worked for the franchise?

could geography or tax structure play into the picture? I think not. could a nonsupporting, impatient, mean-spirited & fickled fan-base & media be the problem?

NaboCane: just had two good friends recently pass away after long & brutal battles with agent orange. you should think before you post, then only post the thread... most inappropriate.

    now, try again... tell me

I'm sure NaboCane meant no harm, just an unfortunate indiscretion. no hard feelings here. a prayer for Daryll & Bernie would be much appreciated.
now back to the thread: I think some questions have been raised that need some thought & consideration in dolfandom... maybe we need to begin to rethink things or at least ask different questions as we move forward.

Why should we hate Dawn? Because she's an assertive woman? So was Catherine the Great. Because she hated Ireland? She'd have to have gotten in line. Because she doesn't want to overpay? Good way to stay out of cap hell. Because she has Ross's ear? She must have done a good job to get there. Because she buddied up with Philbin? I would have buddied up with anyone to get rid of Ireland.

If you think about it, we have a lot to thank Dawn for. Stop getting hung up on her being a woman. Think about if. If the new GM wants that free agent Dawn doesn't want to pay for, all he has to do is get her drunk.

As to this, though; it can't be too far off when someone makes a joke about the Lincoln assassination and someone else pipes in that a dad of a friend's cousin had a grandfather who was in the audience when Lincoln was shot, and he was traumatized until the day he died—and that we shouldn't make insensitive jokes like that.

I feel like we need to evolve...

I don't think the time to hate Aponte is now. From what I have gathered from news sources I respect, she has been an ally and an asset to the Dolphins organization. If she helped oust Ireland...than she is a mutha FN HERO, imo.

No one wins in this game. Not Don Shula, not Dan Marino...nobody wins in the end. The question on when to oust, when to hate is up to all of us. I choose to hate when I think I see enough evidence to expose the problem. When the organization has been beaten to a pulp by what's obvious to me, and continues to do nothing to fix known problems, or mismanage the situation...I lose it.

The only potential problem I could see anyone having is with Philbin, and the utter limp and uninspired performance he and the whole organization displayed the last 2 weeks. It shook my confidence in him.

I am slowly growing agitated with the OC situation. If we lose too many of our potential top hires, for not making enough haste, that will leave me livid. The process for an OC and a GM is not the same.

as I read thru the thread this morning, it appears very few caught my sarcastic drift/stand on the state of the franchise, media & fan-base. having said that, my bad for dealing in sarcasm. however, the overnight McAdoo move to NY illustrates/vindicates my point better than any words in this thread could ever do...

William Shakespeare — 'The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves.'

like I said: every fan-base deserves the franchise it has... just maybe its time to look into the collective Miami mirror for the truth, the blame & the 'quick fix'.

maybe the best thing for the Miami Dolphins would be if they were sold/moved to another area

Yes, yes … so now we see it!

The failures of a franchise to even sniff a SB for 30 years, and the failure to win in 40 years, along with a flawed stadium, poor drafts, etc., etc. has to be the fault of the fan base and media! Finally a rationalistic answer. If only the fans would shut up and stop complaining - the team would succeed!

And, how dare fans actually blame someone in the organization for the failure to field a team at the upper echelons of competitiveness (how dare we think that anyone within the Dolphins structure carry the weight of blame for this below mediocre franchise the past 10 years - what was it, about 3-4 teams that had a worse record the past decade?

Hate to say it - but there is blame to go round, top to bottom, in this organization. The ultimate buck stops with the owner. Every bad decision he makes from who he hires as president, to GM, to HC, etc. is ultimately at his door step.

Let's assume, for the moment, Miami has actually had both a bad GM and a bad HC that lead to a bad on the field product. Does the blame for that lie with them? Well, yes, of course. Does the blame lie with Ross? Yes, again. You see, when the organization wins, everyone gets a piece of the credit. When the organization loses, everyone gets a piece of the blame.

I have no idea whether Aponte is a positive or negative for the team. I will give her the benefit of the doubt - Only because all that I have seen is rumor and that may not be true. But, Ross has shown incompetence - many times over. Is Aponte to blame for the struggle to hire a new GM? Perhaps so. I really don't know. It could be Ross' decision about retaining the HC or it could be Miami really is not that attractive a team given the upcoming free agents on the team and the deep needs along the OL and a couple of other areas - plus being saddled with two LBs who played horribly last year.

Maybe the conspiracy theorists are all correct after all - it's the media and fans who are to blame for this mess.

    1) I knew it was sarcasm MIASportsFan. you inspired the thread! thought I would hear from you before now & things would have taken a different direction.
    2) about agent orange: I know of no combat VietNam veteran who would think any derogatory statement detrimental to soldiers who fought in the war was funny or fodder for humor. this goes well beyond insensitivity, it is pure meanness or absolute ignorance, maybe both. face to face these kind of statements would never be made, the word that comes to mind is cowardly.

as for our beleaguered Dolphins, they are ****ed & Philbin, as well as Tannehill, will go the route of their predecessors in 2014. the clowns win!

    3) yes, Da 'Fins it may very well be that they (media & fan-base) are a present & real danger, part & parcel to the problem. I can only speculate & offer the argument. I suggest you consider the possibility.

There really is no argument, though, only speculation.

THe problem is, the team is not winning. Field a winning franchise and the fans will change.

I don't disagree that the team might need to be moved - but that would ultimately be a result of failure in the organization. The stadium is a huge problem but certainly, as far as fan support is concerned, the changing culture in Miami (and the changed culture in general) creates a tougher sell to get fans to come out to a flawed stadium / venue.

However, this can be remedied by a great team and an owner who could do a better job getting the stadium re-vamped and selling that to the fans.

what are you talking about, referring to...whatever?
why not venture a real thought & opinion on the subject of the state of the franchise, fan-base & media. surely, you can conjure something up behind the voodoo mask. if you disagree, state your disagreement & counter it with a reasonable argument or just politely go away. no one needs this non-nonsensical banter. it has no value to reasonable posters.

have you ever read "Lord of the Flies" ? if you missed it in high school for whatever reason, you should give it a read; it would behoove you to do so...

What exactly is the reason to hate Dawn Aponte at this point, other than the fact that she is a Parcells acolyte?

She's good at her job. She helped get Jeff Ireland fired. That alone to me gets her a life time contract.
