To me this says a lot for how much confidence philbin has about his future in Miami. He didn't hire someone with experience to boost his own stock but who also might be one and done. He went with the young guy with upside which I find interesting.

Philbin seems pretty confident he has plenty more time to figure this out regardless of how we do next season.

The ignore feature works extremely well. Additionally, with takes likes this, most people ignore them and don't quote them. It's like this silliness never existed. Try it!

All I know is, at home games, if we're on offense and have a 3rd down, the sound guy BETTER play the line from Frankie goes to Hollywood's 'Relax': "Hit me with your Lazor Beams."

Who knows, maybe Frankie Goes to Hollywood can become a minority owner and play 'Relax' at half time. It'd be a good way to get that other prominent SoBe demographic out to the game!

Except people actually rooted for Tebow.

Good job by the media completely being off track the entire process.

My guess is when rumors started floating around yesterday of Kubiak waffling...........they went to plan B pretty fast. Pretty solid plan B and hopefully a guy who helps Tanny take the next step.

It's still a little unclear how much of what the Eagles did last year will be brought down here, I'd like to hear what Lazor has to say about it first. I'm imagining it's a large part of what he was hired for, but who knows

I dunno, it was one year on the same team 10+ years ago, and one guy was a "quality control coach" and the other guy was a player personnel assistant without any specific duties we can pin down for that time period.

Some teams have their coaching staffs heavily involved with draft prospects, but is a quality control guy going to really be that involved?

Man look at what he did with Foles. I'm really excited for Tannehill and this offensive line.

    Now, fix the offensive line.

Kidding about what, my preference that the new OC actually had some NFL experience as an OC and with NFL play calling? That I would have preferred cleaning house and letting an experienced GM rebuild with his own HC and a potential problem/ annoyance/ frustration in Aponte being removed?

If that's your point- no, I'm not kidding. If you don't like it... refer to file X with your further snarky comments, and that goes for lmeister and sumlit as well.

Bad drafts and roster management, questionable coaching and a conflicting, argumentative and dysfunctional front office- gee, go ahead and sue me for wanting a catharsis and fresh start. Firing Ireland was great and overdue, firing Sherman was a step in the right direction, but my preference would have been for Ross to clear the decks and build a functional, respectable franchise. Now we're set up for even more positioning, back stabbing, alliance forming and power grabbing next year, or at least more frustration and friction if Aponte gets her way and reports directly to Ross as opposed to the new GM. Good luck with attracting the best available talent in that scenario, it's still a hornet's nest.

As to your Armando comment- no, and I think that you know what you can do with it. It's alimentary.

We've done that several times before and it hasn't worked out for us with re-treads. Chan Gailey, Norv Turner, Scott Linehan, Randy Mueller, Don Capers, Dave Wannestedt, Bill Parcells, Mike Mularkey etc etc. None were ever 'the answer'.

Although I agree with you that we should have cleared the decks coaching/FO wise.

Hes had tutelage under some of the best head coaches.....

He has a proven track record of developing QB's. He took Virigina's offense from the cellar to one of the better ones in the ACC. Chip Kelly thought enough of him to bring him to Philadelphia.

He worked with Chip Kelly to turn Philadelphia's offense into a power house. And according to Kelly, it wasnt the Oregon offense they created. It was the Eagles offense. They created an offense around the players they had on the team. That means putting players in the right positions for them to succeed.

Oh yeh..did I mention he's regarded as one of the best at developing QB's?

Alex Marvez is reporting Lazor comes while keeping all the offensive assistants, including Jim Turner...We are the poster child on how to ruin coaches, players, organizations, etc. Are we actually contemplating keeping a coach that allowed a record number of sacks and dealt with a national controversy?

    What QBs has he developed?

again, legit questions. Based on his stops I see, Seneca Wallace, Jason Campbell, Matt Hasselbeck, and then Foles. I see Foles has developed for sure. Who else has he developed?

Marvez is not reporting that. He is tweeting that. There's a big difference between the two. Also, he says: "I'm told..." which specifies nothing. For all we know, the person telling him that could be the same person that told all of us we no one wants to come here and be an OC.

In some ways that makes sense, but Turner was saddled with inferior talent, including a lousy LT in Jonathan Martin when he was here, and then the whole thing imploded after Martin and Incognito were gone. Ireland brought in the weak talent and was justifiably canned, Sherman's game plans and play calling were lousy, he's thankfully gone as well. As to Turner, I don't have a clear idea as to whether or not he deserves to be replaced, he was saddled with weak talent and a season full of departures, shuffles and drama. I'm not sure how to separate all of that from the actual job that he did of coaching the OL, so I'm kind of neutral when it comes to Turner.

the problem is that the talent won't significantly get better anytime soon. I sure hope we try our damndest but it ain't like Jake Long and Logan Mankins in their primes are walking through the door.

I believe it was Disgustipate who pointed out that his stops as a QB coach were pretty good. He squeezed good production out of some pretty dry stones and helped Nick Foles become the highest rated QB in the NFL last season.

My hope is that since he has already been an OC and has seen how well the Eagles's concepts worked last season, he'll incorporate much of that into his concepts.

Any way you can point me to the post? Because based on what I've looked at, there's only one stop where he squeezed good production out of his QB, and that was last season with Foles.

Alex Marvez has a source that's "telling" him the offensive assistants will be retained. If that's the case, then what I said above applies.

You're right it's not exact yet or guaranteed, but someone is telling him which is more than anything else someone has said.

    How about this?
If Jim Turner is retained, it's moronic. We're keeping someone that hasn't improved the offensive line from when he took over before the 2012 season. He had the same players we did in 2011 (except Martin over Colombo) and made the unit worse. What's left of it? A national cloud of incompetency..

It clearly signals that Joe Philbin believes the issue they were 8-8 is because of talent. He didn't believe the coaching was an issue. He doesn't believe that at 8-6 with games at Buffalo & home at the New York Jets, they could have done a better job of preparing the players, game plan etc to beat two teams that finished 6-10 and 8-8.

Not only can the FO make big changes on the OL, they have to between FA and a deep pool of OTs in the draft. The work that Jeff Ireland did as per the FO was pathetic, the only two good pieces that he generated were Jake Long the #1 pick in the whole draft whom he couldn't retain in FA and Pouncey, the highest drafted Center in decades iirc. Everything else he whiffed at, including the Cowboys reject cesspool. There are no quality starters except for Pouncey and there is no quality depth, just a passable Will Yeatman with a blown out knee and a servieable Nate Garner. Think about the OL from side to side- I'm thinking that we need give or take 5 new OL from the draft and FA for starters and decent depth, I don't recall an OL with less depth and talent in the NFL.

oh no arguments here. brandon Albert, IMO, is the most important part of our offseason. Sign him, draft a G in the 1st, probably another one in the 2nd.
