    DJ was putting up huge numbers with Vick this year before he got hurt as well. The same QB throwing to him last year. Kelly's system was the major factor. Lazor can bring some of this to Miami and use Wallace this way.

    I act like fighting injuries would also make a difference. The season he played 11 games he also was hurt threw a few. There were a few where he was hurt and not playing nearly 100%

    There are other factors in play like having to play some games with Kevin Kolb or an not 100% Mike Vick.

    Plus any statistician would tell you that one year doesn't prove anything and even 4 points of data doesn't really help prove a point.

    Did DeSean have a better than average year because of a new system or because it is first year since his rookie season where he wasn't constantly fighting injury

    I think a number of NFL players "fight injury" hard for us as average fans to truely know how significant they were.

    If my memory serves me right I remember times when they actually mentioned that he was being slowed by injury.

    Having a career season in the first year of a new offense is a pretty strong indicator.

    This was still his best year. 20 more receptions, 20 more first downs, 200 more yards.

    same amount of touchdowns and 2 less yards per catch.

    It was his best year, I just do not think it was THAT much better.

    He's dismissing Kelly's impact on Jackson's production, which is pretty much a dismissal of Lazor. This follows his previous comments:
    First- he attempted to blame Virginia's losing record on Lazor. {even though he wasn't the HC, nor was responsible for their recruiting}

    Second- he stated Lazor wasn't involved in designing Philly's offense. {which contradicts what was already noted in the thread- "We have a lot more of a West Coast influence from [offensive coordinator] Pat Shurmur and our quarterbacks coach Bill Lazor, who have influenced the passing game", said Matt Barkley.}

    Third- he suggested that all Lazor was in Philly was a QB coach and that we already have one of those. {clearly Lazor was more than just a QB coach, and clearly we're not ok in the QB coaching department which was strongly noted by one NFL scout and referenced in this forum}

    Lol, Do you ever admit being wrong? If he had chosen Detroit, you would have said "another hire we missed because no one wants a job with a lame duck Coach"....now its as simple as the weather. If Lazor's offense next year explodes, will it be because of all the talented players Ireland left on the roster?

    Not surprising he would think that. For the same reason he hired another coach with zero NFL experience.....it Joe Philbin and he himself is inexperienced

    As the "some guy" in question I feel I must comment. I was not hostile, at all. I stated facts, and the facts are if you get off topic (hoisting religious beliefs into a thread that has nothing to do with religion is getting off topic, as was proven on page one of the thread in question since it immediately became about religion) then the thread should be moved. It was my OPINION, as someone who has been here since the beginning. I only became slightly hostile when you got off the rails a little bit.

    You DO realize this is a moderated message board, correct? You DO realize that "freedom of speech" is a misnomer on a moderated message board? If you get off topic, it gets moved. If a moderator thinks you are breaking site rules, your post gets deleted.

    Freedom of speech does not exist here, if it breaks site rules. In real life you can troll and flame until your heart is content. You can s†and on a street corner screaming obscenities at people and insulting them, because you have freedom of speech. If you do that here you get posts deleted, warnings and eventual banishment. If you continuously get off topic in a thread, you'll get warned to stay on topic.

    Stop trying to play the martyr. Stop trying to hoist your beliefs into every conversation on every topic. The act has grown old, quickly. If you want to discuss religion and faith, there is a section of the board for it. This board is about Miami Dolphins football.

    You are acting like the moderators on this board are doing things secretly to get rid of things that certain people say...

    Why would they do it by stealth? They have EVERY right to do it right out in the open.

    Why?

    They have rules and regulations. The same set of rules and regulations you agreed to when you signed up here.

    At the top of the forum there is a "Site rules" tab, you may want to click on it sometime.

    I think you're leaving out one crucial statistic there though...targets, maybe even targets 20+. That would aid in the argument either way.

    Edit: I quoted the wrong post somehow...still...for the Jackson stats going back over 6 years...that's what I'm referring to.

    Just listened to Lazor..and no question..he was emphatic how much Philbin was the main reason he chose Miami. Also said..his offense will be based around what players he has..not so much what system he wants to run

    that sounds all warm and fuzzy.... until you actually WATCH the games and see the difference in offensive systems and how Kelly & Co's offense effectively got Jackson involved, to the point his EFFICIENCY was tremendously improved. His catch percentage & 1st down percentage were notably higher.

    His 60 first downs ranked 13th this year, and of that top 13, Jackson's 51% ranked #1. In 2011 he ranked 41st, 2010- 50th, 2009- 35th, 2008- 28th.
    His 82 receptions ranked 19th this year. His 58 in 2011 ranked 47th, 2010- 71st, 2009- 38th, 2008- 35th.

    Are you seriously arguing Chip Kelly's offense didn't put DeSean Jackson in the best position to maximize his ability and production and get more out of him than ever before?

    Said he wants to lead the league in scoring plays. They will figure out how it looks to do that as they move on.

    Not arguing that. I am more on the side that DeSean probably would have similar seasons up till now if not for injuries.

    I think Riley Cooper is a better example. That guy was doing nothing much and last season he had a really good year.

    to be fair, no offensive coordinator takes a job and says he wants to run an offence that's mediocre in scoring.

    I like him, just wondering if him not being able to hire his own assistants will hurt. Always feel like the OC should make those decisions.

    Jeremy Maclin was out for the entire season. They leaned on Desean Jackson more and his stats are little higher than usual. From watching the games however I think Desean did improve under Kellys offense.
