When I read the quote it just oozed of sarcasm for me. I'd bet Mando was pestering him or her with stupid questions on how active Ross is in the process and they final snapped back with a sarcastic remark. Its sarcasm either went over Mando's head or he thought he'd use it to stir up the fan base.

While that's true, IMO the tipping point was cable. With cable we had 24 hour news and that time needed to filled up somehow and they needed to pull viewers away from the competition. Journalism gave way to sensationalism The OJ trial really kicked it up a few 100 notches then that was followed by the expansion of the internet into every house where not only can anyone report anything, but it gave the people forums to argue. Which only served to fan the flame even more. Think about it, what news purpose does comment sections actually serve at the end of online articles? None. What it does is change the entire news consumption dynamic. Now you read the news, with sole intent to get angry either at defending the subject or attacking it. Almost EVERYONE likes to argue on the internet and sensationalist stories feed the monkey.

How did you come to the conclusion that a "league source" must work for the central NFL office, or as you said "anyone from Goodell to a maid employed by the NFL"? A league source would seem to come from, as the name clearly indicates, from anyone employed in the circles of the NFL, most definitely including individual NFL teams. Case in point:

"St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford is out for the season after an MRI on Sunday night showed he tore the ACL in his left knee, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter."

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9855679/sam-bradford-st-louis-rams-suffers-torn-acl-source-says

I doubt that the info came from Goodell, a maid employed by the NFL or any other employee of the NFL central office. League source is a broader term imo.

What? I didn't come to a conclusion at all.

If you don't understand how me saying a "league source" could be anyone from Goodell to a maid, is the same thing as saying it could be anyone who has or is working for the league...then the problem is in your understanding of the language.

Fair enough, I didn't find your language or examples to be clear if that's what you mean by league source. Goodell to an NFL maid indicated to me the league office, not individual NFL teams. Point understood.

    Thank you.

My point is that the intentionally worded "league source" can be just about anyone which would mean the info shouldn't just be accepted, that's all.

In other words, they haven't liked the feedback so far from the candidates they have talked too - because they too see how ****ed up Ross and his "process" is.....It wouldn't be surprising to find out a lot of them have actually turned the job down, and the team has asked them to not saying anything, and this is the PR spin the team is going with to make themselves look somewhat comptetant

You left out the part where they sacrifice a baby black rhino (endangered species by the way) on the conference table before every interview.

Just wait until the World Wildlife Fund and GreenPeace hear about this.

Oh if he misses with this GM hire, he is done as an owner and I think will try to bow out of NFL ownership ASAP....which is not good news, because then the team will for sure be an afterthought in his business Empire and we will suffer under "I don't give a ****" ownership until he sells them.

That may be a bit of wishful thinking on your part because I can't think of a single instance where an owner has sold a team because they felt they weren't qualified to own it.

Well we really don't know exactly how the scouts and Gaine had the rookies graded before the draft last year. We only know whom Ireland picked and where he picked them by round. There is no way to know whether there was a consensus among all the scouts.

Huizenga sold the Dolphins when he did to avoid an increase in the capital gains tax.

Believe what you want to believe. IMO he did it more because 1-15 & Cam Cameron AFTER Saban wore badly on him.....he couldn't wait to get rid of them.

Oh here we go with the tap-dancing I told everyone would happen before Jeffy was let go.

So now we can't blame Gaine and his staff for anything, its all on Ireland ?

You are trying to play the "lets protect the (present) people in the franchise game" just like was done when Ireland was there, it was never his fault.

I swear I called this happening weeks ago......you didn't disappoint me :shifty:

This line is so tired and old. Do you want to know when fans will stop *****ing? When this team makes the playoffs. You pretend nothing is wrong with this team after 6 years of horrible mediocrity. So if you want to play this game, I can just as easily point out how quickly you've gone from defending Ireland and moved right onto defending Ross. Because you have an "Everything is great!" view of this team. You'll defend the problems until they are gone, and then you move on to defending the next problem. Lucky for you, you'll be able to defend this problem for a long time because Ross cannot be fired. He's the perfect mark.

For the record, while I do believe Ross is a poor or at the very least inexperienced owner, I will give whatever GM he hires the benefit of the doubt. I'm not really *****ing, just concerned at the GM hiring process.

You can point it out all day and night, but I was very consistent with my Ireland stance. I challenge you to go back and read what you thought was defense of him. Then again a consummate hater like yourself doesn't remember facts otherwise it would be hard to be a hater.

The line is not tired. It is true. You and all your insane hate mongers wouldn't shut the **** up about Ireland and how he was the reason this franchise wasn't winning big. He was fired and before any other move was made, all of a sudden, Aponte, Ross and Philbin became the reason this franchise wasn't winning big. Barely a peep about these guys all season long, then as soon as the target of your hate is removed, they now are in your guys cross hairs. This is absolutely about you guys preferring to hate instead of objectively looking at facts...and it always has been (which is what my argument was that you continue to mistake defending Ireland.)

Sure. While I'm busy not digging through the hundreds of posts you made explaining why Ireland should not have been fired up until 3/4 way through this season, why don't you find where I blamed Philbin or Aponte for the reason this team lost games in 2013. Just your typical MO, lump me in with everyone else who has said anything you deem negative or pessimistic.

You claiming you are objective is laughable. So funny that all the players, coaches, GMs who ultimately have been unsuccessful with this team and been fired have had this "objective" defense from you and others.

And add to that the fact that you literally spent years crafting posts defending the continued employment of Jeff Ireland, and somehow now claim you were still "right" about Jeff Ireland is the very reason why debating anything about these Dolphins with you is the most pointless way I spend my time every day.

Dude come on. Your seriously going to defend Miami's crap tactic writers? When Dave Hyde uses a "source"..or Ethan Skolnick..they are fair objective writers who have good reputations. When Armando Salguero or Chris Perkins and any of that ilk do...well..to each their own. You believe who you want to believe.

Typical. I defended the notion that Ireland wasn't in control during the Parcells years, Your hater fueled brain can't see that as anything other then defending Ireland. I consistently and repeatedly claimed if we didn't make the playoffs this year it was time for Ireland to go. I have not gone back on anything about that.

You wouldn't know what to do with yourself if there wasn't anything to rage about with the Dolphins.

Btw, the Bucs job Licht has been tabbed for is a "real" GM job as he has control of the draft & other personnel decisions.

Lovie gets to decide what players make the roster, Jason Licht will get final say on draft day.

i don't honestly see a difference there. Just means licht will have to go with whoever Lovie wants when it comes to the 5th, 6th and 7th rounds cause if lovie doesnt like them, they probably won't make the squad.

Why does that mean Licht has to do anything. If Lovie has final roster say that's on him if he makes a cut. How does that have any effect on Licht
