I like it too.... but I think it'd be better if it were a completely open draft where they could bounce around from position to position however they see fit just like Madden franchise draft.

I was hoping it would be like that. I would try to draft all 6 Lbers and 4 safeties and employ a crazy defense composed of them.

It's cool that they're allowing corners to press this year, and with them picking teams they'll probably take winning more seriously. Could be a fun watch.

GREAT player, but I would trade him for a late 1st and 3rd in heart beat.(49ers and Broncos) It's just a hunch, but I have a bad feeling about Mike in Miami.

I'm actually going to watch the game and see how this whole unconferenced game goes.. Got a feeling it's just going to be a clown show but what ever, maybe they'll make it interesting but I doubt it.. They should just do an All Star combine show.

I wish they had a "home run derby/slam dunk" event preceding the game. I remember the QB events (do not remember if they were before the Pro Bowl) and Marino won one when I was a kid. In the distance event, he only threw the ball something like 63 yards. I think he was fifth place in that particular event.

Anyway, something like that would be nice.

What's the point? Why trade a great player for a pick that you hope will become a great player? How does that help move the team forward?

He was number 47 and he formerly played with the Patriots and then strangely enough played for us as well. He was a Georgia product.

    His name, Robert Edwards.

It means nothing more than we have a new GM. That's it. Trying to attach the idea of success to a candidate to someone who hasn't even been hired yet is just hyperbole.

I have several reasons for wanting to trade Mike Pouncey.

First of all, like I said in the original post, I have a bad feeling about Mike sticking around in Miami.

2nd: This is the last year of his rookie contract, he will never have more trade value than this off season.

3rd: With what is happening this offseason, Pouncey is set to become the de facto leader of a patch work OL in 2014. That would be bad IMO. With Turner back at OL coach and Mike Pouncey the veteran leader of an OL that could be featuring 1-3 functional rookies, the Dolphins could end up again with no running game and another year leading the league in sacks.

I don't want that scenario to unfold.

4th: I am a huge fan of Gabe Ikard OC/OG Oklahoma. I believe he can be a day 1 starter as a rookie. All he lacks is power, and strength can be improved. He may be the smartest and one of the most athletic offensive linemen in this year's draft; grossly underrated. He has long since graduated with a 4.0 GPA and was in grad school last year. He is this year's poster boy for Coseida's Academic All Americans. A three year starter who played a mean LG as well. His leadership qualities are outstanding. http://www.seniorclassaward.com/athletes/gabe_ikard/

5th: I am a firm believer in the thought that truly great OL's are usually great because of their cohesiveness and their functioning dynamics, and not how individually talented each starter is. This is why I don't want Pouncey leading a new line. I don't see a future there. I want the Dolphins to build a new OL with high character guys and I never want to hear about Bullygate again.

Finally: Say the 49ers are the trade partner. It's not so unlikely. Goodwin will be 36 next year and he is a FA and was a weak link this last year. The Dolphins may be able to ask for original #15 value for Pouncey.

They could ask for a 1st and 3rd and some late picks as well, or a 1st and 3rd and OT Luke Marquardt and one or two 7ths as well. 49ers have like 14 picks or something.

If the 49ers thought a pro bowl center would be what could give their offense a new gear and put them over the top in their competition with the SeaHawks, they have the resources to do such a deal.

This kind of compensation is nothing to be sneezed at. Having five picks in the first three rounds could go a long way towards replacing holes left by departing free agents and adding competition/depth at the LB position.

The Robert Edwards injury was at a beach football event for rookies that was part of the pro bowl week at the time. Funny enough, that was the last time they've ever had the beach football event.

There's no way in hell you get anything close to what you're talking about for Mike Pouncey, and it doesn't make any goddamned sense to trade your best linemen in order to build a better line.

O.K. Then you declare it. The old, put or __up. If Pouncey isn't worth his original #15 value, then what is his trade value?????????? Or are you just being negative because that's how you roll??

If you look at the chart, the #30 and the #94 are nowhere near the original 1050 points that the #15 pick is worth. The point value is 746. Luke Marquardt wasn't even drafted, so his value along with two seventh rounders still comes nowhere close to the 1050.

Why would a guy drafted in the 1st round with the #15 pick who is now making pro bowls and is generally recognized around the league as being one of the better offensive linemen, lose so much of his original draft value?? Especially when you consider that he is still on his rookie contract and won't cost much until he get's his new contract in 2015.
Teams like the 49ers and Broncos who are elite and are in total win now mode will find his 2.5 mil salary extremely appealing. How often can you acquire a young pro bowler for that kind of cap hit.

If the Dolphins were to get #15 value for him it would take the #30 pick and the #56 pick that they have from KC. I didn't suggest that. I was trying to be conservative.

Listen, if you like Mike Pouncey and you believe he is a real good prospect to lead the OL next year, and you want to make him the cornerstone of a patchwork offensive line in 2014 then fine, that is your opinion; but don't say," it doesn't make any goddamn sense to trade him," because it makes perfect sense to trade him. It's a matter of perspective.

The Dolphins aren't going to the Super Bowl next year, I think the new GM is going to understand that and start building a team with a view to begin dominating our division in 2015. Moving Pouncey now, for the right price of course, would be a good start in that direction.

A 2nd, maybe? Can you name the last player that went for a 1st and a 3rd?

How is it a "patchwork" line? I'm not sure what you're trying to avoid other than seemingly having a talented linemen that previously was on the roster.

Again... even lets say we can get a 1st and 3rd. And the first happens to pan out as good as Pouncey (less than a 50% of happening)... that extra 3rd (only a 30-40% chance of being a significant player) is going to be a big building block towards getting better? And that 30-40% chance of getting a player is worth the roll of the dice of a greater than 50% chance that you're swapping Pouncey for a bum?

The answer is no. You'd have to hit on both picks to make it worth it... and it's statistically improbable.

Trent Richardson just went for an earlier 1st rounder, and he sucks! The picks are late, their point value isn't that high.

How many times do I have to point out that 4 starters from last year's line are UFA's, and Jonathan Martin won't be back. That leaves Mike Pouncey as the lone remnant of veteran leadership for a mostly new OL. He will be the de facto leader of a new OL with potentially 1-3 rookies. I would prefer to acquire draft picks and start fresh with guys who were not part of the Bullygate crew that gave up a league leading number of sacks and couldn't work together dynamically to run block.

    I already posted all this.

A 2nd rounder??? Really? For a young pro bowl player still on his rookie contract who was drafted with the # 15 pick. Now that.....doesn't make any goddamn sense, especially when you consider that a scenario like this will only apply to established elite teams that are real Super Bowl contenders. It would be a late 2nd. That's just absurd and pathetic.
