He was removed from his role and offered a different one with a raise. He declined. Since he did not have the option of remaining with the team as the GM/decider guy, from that position he was essentially fired.
that is simply your opinion vs mine. Despite a crap of an oline we had the talent to beat some good teams this year. If we had a coaching staff worth a crap we would have beat one of those sorry two teams at the end. Think about it like this... What do you think our record would have been if Bellicheat was coaching our team? I'd say a minimum of 11 wins. Not to mention, the NFL is designed for everyone to be mediocre. So when you say we have a mediocre amount of talent, that tells me all we need is an above average coach to get over the hump.
If not GM, what role was he being offered and is that role any different from what's being offered to the GM candidates we are pursuing?
He's not making it up. It is factually what happened, if you choose to neglect truth he can't help you.
So John Wooten of the Fritz Pollard Alliance told La Canfora that Farmer is actually mulling over a 2nd interview with us...lol does he really even want the job? That would be so funny if he actually turned us down.
The current candidates are being interviewed for the GM job under the exact same parameters Ireland operated under when he was GM. Since Ireland never accepted the different role that Ross offered him, we won't know exactly what the job would have been. We do know however he no longer would have final say on personnel.
Why would it be funny? It seems like you actually wish misfortune on the team. What sort of fan does that? Are you also into Sadomasochism?
Looks like Xanders is out... "The Miami Dolphins informed Brian Xanders on Wednesday he would not be a finalist for their general manager position." http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/2014/01/23/xanders-finalist-dolphins-gm/25616/
That's a little scary IMO. I was kinda hoping that any new GM could come in and not have to worry about being "fired" bc Philbin disagreed with him.
lol it would funny....our top candidate (well, our top candidate after all our other top candidates turned us down) declining a 2nd interview after mulling it over and deciding there was just too much dysfunction and it would be in his best interest to wait on a better situation and hold off on his dream of running a team. really it would probably be best for us to promote Gaine, get the 1st pick in the draft so Ross can completely clean house or even better, sell the team.
What sort of fan derives some perverse sense of enjoyment out of the perceived dysfunction they think they see in the team they claim to root for?
It's facts. If you have a playoff caliber roster then you make the playoffs. We don't have one, we haven't been in the playoffs since 2008 thanks to Bernard Pollard and got absolutely destroyed by the Ravens.
I've been tweeting it for a few hours. May as well try it at this point. If someone had told me a month ago I'd miss him I would have questioned their sanity. Now? I am wishing he'd stayed. That way when we go 7-9 again Ross would have been forced to fire everyone. Now, a 7-9 won't get anyone fired.
someone punch the ******* who said be careful for what you wish for Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
I will be infinitely happier if the Phins do not have a GM, then if Ireland was a GM. Firing Ireland was one of the best decisions in the history of the team.
