http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/26/report-brian-gaine-likely-to-leave-dolphins/ what u think guys?
link not working I pasted it. Took a minute but worked. obviously play here. Gaine is pissed so he leaked to Armondo. He wants out. Cn't say I blame him. Ross will give him a raise to save face. Man the plot thickens Was Gaine the leak the hole time? Did Ross pass him up as a result?
huge loss actually, Brian Gaine knew his ****, now we've traded his talent for a Bucs (snicker) player pro guy to be added to the chaos. Bad move Ross
I would have not like Ross' settling but it would have been a better move. Now reports are out that the GM job is not a real GM job and that Philbin has control of roster for 2014 I have not seen the reports just what others are saying, so take it with a grain of salt
Smart man to get out of dodge while his resume is still unblemished. No sense potentially going down with this ship after he was absolved of any poor doings during the previous regime considering he's still here and was considered for the GM job and with all the blame being dished out elsewhere. I'd rather take a year off while waiting for another job offer, even if it's a step back, than remain involved with this mess.
Bad news. This was our Senior Bowl guy. No one else bothered to go (brilliant move by Philbin and Co.). Obviously the new staff can watch whatever tape there is BUT player interviews are important (think Jonathan Martin) and we now missed that opportunity entirely.
Executives generally stay on until after the draft due to the amount of work they've compiled over the year. Spielman didn't leave until after Saban's first draft. He's definitely gone though.
So.... Joe Philbin was in control of the 53 man roster in 2014 (according to rumours) and that pushed a few candidates away. He decided to skip the Senior Bowl, sending Brian Gaine. Hickey did not attend the Senior Bowl. Gaine is quitting. Essentially, we had no one in authority at the Senior Bowl.
Even if Gaine leaves it is a professional courtesy to stay e ith your current team through the draft. It happens often.
I think Ross will promote Brian to Associate-GM or whatever it takes, paying him enough/sufficient money to keep him until the new GM has control of things & a chance to prove himself a keeper... just an opinion. a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush
That's a relief. We get the guy helping to set up our draft board who doesn't want to be here anymore and might even feel snubbed by the organization. Phew.
Sure its possible. However if he sabotaged an orginization on the way out, and it was ever known by ANYONE he would never have an NFL job again.
God knows what it actually true, but unsubstantiated Twitter reports suggest that we either offered the job or intended to offer the job to... Caserio Licht Farmer Dawson and we obviously just hired Hickey So there is a decent possibility that Gaine was #6 overall, maybe a lot lower on the original board, and was purely an emergency fall back option. I'd be insulted too after putting in years of hard work with the team.
It has nothing to do with sabotaging. He could simply not put forth the type of effort he would otherwise, no?
I think my idea would suit a businessman. Ross is no fool. I think Ross will promote Brian to Associate-GM or whatever it takes, paying him enough/sufficient money to keep him until the new GM has control of things & a chance to prove himself a keeper... just an opinion. a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush
The effort is mostly done I would think. I'd assume he has watched tape, collected notes, and been active since the season began. Probably has notea years old from when kids were freshman. Obviously that is only part of it, but if he is a professional leaving his post under his own decision I expect him not to mail it in. He wasn't owed the GM spot. It isn't in his contract that if Ireland leaves he takes over. If he doesn't wish to keep his current job that is his own decision. I'd hope he's man enough to finish the job he started before leaving under his own power.
Gaines draft board compared to Hickeys most likely would be very different......so we got that going for us.
Chris Grier, Director of College Scouting. Joe Schoen Assistant Director of College Scouting College scouts: Ron Brockington Adam Engroff Ron Labadie Mike Murphy Cody Rager Matt Winston I'd bet all of them were there too.
Is it just me or does this organization just look totally dysfunctional and out of whack? I don't remember ever hearing of an NFL team being turned down by so many candidates, not that it hasn't happened. Evidently Gaine was a last resort in case the other 6 - 8 candidates turned down the offers. It sure looks like the Miami franchise doesn't appeal to a lot of people one way or the other.
I had a feeling Gaine wouldn't like the stench here either. What does it say when your internal candidate doesn't even want to stay?
I am not quite following...he wanted to get the job...then does not get it...then wants to leave because the job and organization stinks?
I would not blame him if he GTFO. Maybe he can find a job in an organization where the owner has a clue. I did not want Gaine but I would have chosen him before Hickey that's for sure.
I agree. Gaine should leave because he felt bypassed for a job he thought he deserved. Not because the organization stinks
