true. but the youth of america arent pauling. they're lebronning. its great when kids emulate you. when larry bird played, kids ran to the gym to practice shooting outside shots like their hero, when jordan played kids ran to the courts and tried to fly like mike and now in the new era, they emulate the great one, king flop himself, his greatest skill, what he'll be remembered for. i mean he's really perfected the art

Yeah. I am sure that Lebron will be remembered for a made up "fad" invented by a couple of butthurt Bulls fans.

    great observation.

Yeah, actually more then ever I do. Where's he going to rush and play? Who has an attractive team and cap space? Certainly not the Lakers. The Clippers have no cap and probably wouldnt move Blake for him so they have nothing of real value at that point as far as trade chips go. The Bulls? They could amnesty Boozer and try and do something but then do you really want to lock yourself in to the rest of your prime with Rose who has shown he cant stay healthy? Hes a great player but Im not so sure. To me theyre the biggest threat though for 2014. Next year is a weak crop of FA's, he cant really try and organize a team of 3-4 stars like he can in 2015. And no one really has that kind of cap space anyway next year save for 1-2 very young teams.

2015, different story. He can try and organize a trifecta or something. Melo with Love and Rondo? Melo with Aldridge and Marc Gasol? Tony Parker? Theres options. If hes thinking about this rationally, and I have no proof he is, he should be looking at was the NYK can clear out JR and Feltons player options for 2015 and that would leave them with Tim Hardaway Jr as the lone player on the cap for 2015. 58M in cap space + the NYK would have his bird rights. Theres a lot of potential and unfinished business. Plus his college coach, Jim Boeheim has been advocating he stay and I know he listens to Boeheim.

Ducking Folan. Worst. Owner. In. The. League.

We are ABSOLUTELY NOT 1-1 in bets. I bet you that the Heat would win a Championship before the Yankees. Since that bet was made: Heat: 2 Trophies. Yankees: 1 playoff appearance, 1 steroid investigation, 1 $200 million dollar payroll to finish 3rd.

I DID NOT say the Nets "defense" sucks. I said the Nets suck. As in they have little chance to beat any of the top two seeds and are even money to lose to ANYBODY in the first round.

Let's take it one by one:

    1) Top 10 in Def. Eff. by end of season? They are 24th right now....about 3 points per 100 poss. behind the 10th spot. This is really even money to happen if they can continue their January pace for THE REST OF THE WAY. I think they can do it...it's a flip of a coin...so no..bet that one with somebody else..although..fair warning it's a coin flip.

    2) #3 seed by end of season. Big eff'n deal. at one point the #3 seed in the east was at .500. First of all, you have to win the division to do that...(2.5 ms back of TOR) so yeah..that can happen...you are also just 3.5 of the #3 seed. So that's yet another coin flip. I'm not an action junkie, I like milking deluded suckers on these types of bets. If you want a juicy one...how deluded are you..think you can get the #2 seed? I'll give you 10-1..My 1k vs. your $100. Deal?

    3) that the Heat "don't" repeat. Well...damn...they are damn near 2-1 right now...and are gonna be even money vs. OKC, SAS or even IND in the ECF....so yet another sucker bet you think I would make. So no. Although..hit me up before the ECF's...if you want to lose money.

    4) As for the main bet..why would I give you 3-1 now, when the series odds might be the same but I'll have more info as to injuries? I don;t think it's fair to ONLY take your money on this "Nets beat Heat" sucker bet..so I will seek to make a point. I will TAKE your money on the straight series bet....but I also want to make a bet on the Over/Under of Nets wins. I'll take UNDER 2.5..you obviously take over..and we take the vegas odds.

When the time comes..we make BOTH bets. If you want to give me odds on a sweep or 4-1..I'll take that too.

and...yes....If you want, I might give you action versus ANY team you face in the first round as a favorite.

Sorry I haven't been to the thread in a few days. I would take the same bet Section stated. I do think the Hawks will finish ahead but I'm not so in love with then I'd place money on them. They aren't exactly a powerhouse, they couldfall off the map conceivably.

Looking at Melo's night??? When he is in that zone he becomes a god.

    Just a few stats..

Carmelo Anthony was 13-for-18 (72.2%) from the mid-range area, including ten makes in the first half. He has not had more than 11 such makes in his career. Carmelo Anthony was double-teamed on eight touches against the Bobcats, all in the second half. He passed to his teammates on six of the eight touches and scored two points in such situations.

Carmelo Anthony scored a career-high and Knicks' record 62 points on 57 offensive touches Friday against the Bobcats. He passed 16 times (28%) on his offensive touches and attempted 35 shots (61%), tied for his career high.

Carmelo Anthony had 62 points and 0 turnovers...It's the most points scored without a turnover since individual turnovers were first recorded in 1977-78.

Carmelo Anthony was 11-for-13 (84.6%) for 25 points with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist as his primary defender on Friday, 30 percentage points higher than any other defender. He made one fewer shot against Kidd-Gilchrist than against all other defenders, on nine fewer attempts.

Only the 6th player in the past 25 years to drop 60/10.

Not bad for 3.25 Quarters played.

    No...that's never been a debate.

But when a player does something incredible like score 62 in 3 and a quarter...quarters. You gotta tip your cap.

Definitely, he had a great game for sure. Maybe someday he will break 100. Honestly if there is one active player that can do it, its probably Melo. Followed by Durant and then James. I can't see Lebron doing it though, he doesn't look to score first unless he feels he has to generally.

how the hell do you figure 1-1...when you are the only one that sent a check?

the bet was simple. Yankees vs. Heat. First to a title....well..Heat got there first.... you paid.....then got there again.

Looks damn good. But they are bringing him along slowly, as they should. The surprising thing is that he looks really athletic for a big 7 footer that has had so many injuries.

So I've missed the last few games but I hear Oden is looking really explosive in his movements lately and has been changing a lot of shots defensively. He obviously has some offensive rust from not playing for so long, but this seems really encouraging.

Can anyone chime in on if that is accurate?

    Accurate.

His timing is most definitely off on both sides of the ball but just his presence down low on D alters the opposition. When he came in against SA Duncan looked noticeably less comfortable taking it to the rim.

His agility is surprisingly good to. He's put the ball on the floor a couple of times and he moves very well for a big man. Just needs conditioning and better timing...and to stay healthy of course

    For Oden,

    Pros so far:
He looks spry and shows little signs of knee injury. Makes / bricks a couple of dunks here and there. Gets blocks and rebounds pretty regularly. Looks very big out there. He plays better alongside Bosh than Beasley.

    Cons:
I'm sure this will be corrected with time, but he plays overaggressive and finds himself in the wrong spot often (usually to the detriment of team defense). Reminds me a lot of when I control the character in 2k14, and I'm running around trying to steal and block everything and it allows the other team to score.

    Other stuff:
He does seems quick, but I'm not sure if he's quick enough for a "pace and space" type offense. Spo will need to make some more tweaks when he's in there. Looks like he gets better with each outing. He should match up well with other big men for 15 minutes a game come playoff time.

I would say it's accurate. I expect/hope? that come playoff time we'll see a healthy dose of Birdman in the middle with Oden becoming the primary big off the bench and maybe Haslem as the third big in games where we need/want go that deep. I'm thinking Birdman will get as much as 20 - 25 minutes a game, Oden will get 10-15 and we'll go with a small line-up for the balance. That's during the playoffs for the few games where we need/want to go big. IMO the Heat's big line-up will be an improvement over what we had last season. On the other hand, the loss of Miller and aging of Battier makes our small line-up less effective than it was last year.

Lala (melo ' wife) says he's not going anywhere.

Magic Johnson said he should stay put and pull a Kobe...I.e. bang on management's door and demand a trade or some help (that's what lead to the LAL getting Pau Gasol)

And THJR is in a very Timmy like zone. Hes been draining 3's left and right. I think hes 1 short of the NYK rookie record for 3s in a game (6) held by Nate Robinson and Toney Douglas.

Also it should be said that JR is starting to play like last years JR over the last 10. Over that tme hes been over 45% FG in just about every game and hes shooting within the flow of the offense

Yea I've had the luxury of watching the last 4-5 Knicks games and they look like a solid basketball team. If this team could ever get and stay healthy it's the third best team in the east IMO.
