Attempting to ingratiate oneself with someone whom is messing with them is a textbook response, and something a person with basic emotional intelligence and perception should able to identify and understand at like a middle school level at the latest. There's really no bar you can lower appropriately to the point that Incognito isn't a tremendous ******* in this situation. Couple it with the other stuff that's occurred, and it's a very easy and logical determination.
There isn't a side to pick, just be glad that neither will play football for the Dolphins' again. They both suck at what they do on the field. What they do off the field doesn't matter to me. But by the way, several locker rooms, former players, NFL HOF's, coaches, have said Incognito's behavior is NOT common in the NFL or any sport. They have also said player leaders would have/should have intervened and set Incognito straight. And I believe them.
I'm not so sure if the notion of repeatedly adding "gate" to subjects around here, is as irksome as the frequency this team has managed to implicate itself with them. Among such numerous topics of contentious debate, Bullygate never fails to burrow under the skin like an insideous worm.
It's so textbook....someone....say a workplace harrassment lawyer would know to use as a reason for their son's behavior?
You're operating from the standpoint that Cogs knew this was a problem. I'm saying there's no way Cogs should have thought Martin was ingratiating himself and not just being friends.
From the comments of teammates, the number of photos of the two, I have to believe that Richie thought they were friends...I don't say that to excuse Richie of any wrong doing, but I have a hard time believing that the behavior came from a place of malice.
That's my point. I'm not saying Cogs is an awesome person, he should be in jail, but the Martin vs Cogs thing shouldn't be all on him.
Whether Cogs thought he was out of hand or not, whether Martin encouraged the behavior, whether it's right or wrong, it certainly reeks of 'damage control' by the Martin camp. Funny how this is coming back out just as the findings of the Wells report is expected to come out... I don't know who to believe in this and don't really care at this point. In cases like this, both parties are probably telling the 'truth' (as they individually saw it). It obviously was more than what Martin could handle, for whatever reasons and he blew this all up to begin with. But now, him suddenly 'breaking his silence' just smells like damage control to me...I'm sorry for what happened to Martin, I'm sorry for what happened to RI, but it's time to let it go and move on... Make the adjustments recommended by Well and move on...Martin will be happy somewhere else (I presume) and RI will have to move on. Ironically, I'm doubtful that Cogs would have been retained in FA even if this had never occurred. In a related sense, I'm sure Martin will not be trusted in any NFL locker room again...That doesn't mean someone won't take a flier on him, but he'll find it awkward in most NFL locker rooms. He broke the sacred trust of his team mates in Miami and that will follow him wherever he goes... Cogs, on the other hand, will look like the guy 'caught in the middle' here (despite the negative connotations of his texts and communications to Martin). How ironic if either ends up in NE, the jests or jills... I can see BB taking on either one as a 'reclamation' project as he's done with several before...
I would laugh my @$$ off if we did that. Ross would never let it happen. I wish he would. Cogs was on his way out even if this never took place I believe. His play wasn't up to par. You can find just as many former players, NFL HOF's, and coaches, who would say the opposite. In fact, many did when the story broke.
I'll believe the ones who say it's not common. Leaving stupid voice mails talking about ****ting and ****ing a players mom/sister and behaving like a complete monster provides NOTHING to your character. It doesn't make you look tough, it doesn't make you a better player, it does nothing. It's just a vomitus personality and I'm willing to be 95% of all sports locker rooms does not behave like that. I'm happy that Incognito is gone. Good riddance.
While dickish, at best the golf course thing would get is community service with time served. Even if he was a poor minority.
We know this for a fact because Incognito's dad(aka esteemed ThePhins.com poster mommabilly) said it was a problem.
I disagree, too many people get jail time. Fines and community service is good enough for me. Make them volunteer at a woman's shelter.
We stop putting in people for weed and prostitution our jail population would drop, then we can put in more guys who molest women.
Still says something about the team to me personally. The team lacked character and it showed the last few weeks for sure.
You can visit him at the message board of whatever team Richie Incognito ends up on in the future. (Leavenworth apparently had a football team when Mike Vick was there)
The team was young. McKinnie discussed this on Section's show Sports Bang. He said the team didn't have a lot of veteran leadership. People can say what they want about a strong leader in a coach, but the real rah-rah stuff (that everyone wants from the coach) happens more and more effectively from vets in the locker room.
It makes me sad that you've never had friends that you could say the most vile, ridiculous, politically-incorrect things to without anyone getting butt-hurt... ...or is it just me?
This country is so f#cked up, we have potheads serving life sentences while murderers get off with a slap on the wrist.
This is the best article IMO that Mando has ever written. http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolp...rview-with-nbc-dolphins-offensive-tackle.html
Martin basically admitted he doesn't have the cojones to play football in the NFL. The thing that caught my attention was that Martin said he didn't speak to anyone in the organization after he left. Does that make Philbin a liar?
Ok...who kidnapped Mando and wrote this article for him.? Lol..hey Omar..Deuces...as in Mando just let go with a double barreled Jonathan Martin *** blaster Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
The death penalty is a waste of an invaluable resource. What could science accomplish with all those able bodies for testing?
Here is a "Richie Response" article... http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2014/01/30/richie-incogntio-fights-back-against-bullying-allegations/
