Adam Beasley @AdamHBeasley Dolphins announce they have parted ways with asst. GM Brian Gaine. He was one of the three finalists for the GM job Adam Beasley @AdamHBeasley Dennis Hickey: "We both agreed that this decision was in everyone’s best interests going forward." Mark Dominick come on down................
He interviewed for the Jets GM position last year and the Dolphins GM position this year. Has he ever been interviewed by anyone else for a GM position?
I'd feel better if he had stayed through the draft but oh well. Hopefully Hickey has a feel for this class.
It's hard to stay where you just got passed over by for a promotion. Hickey has his own guy in mind (the presumption is Dominck). I know less about Dominick than Gaine, but even then, I don't know much of what Gaine has done here, good or bad. I think Gaine has a good future in the NFL, he'll be hired on somewhere and that organization will be a bit better for it... On the other hand, it can be looked at as one more piece of the stench that the Fat One left behind is gone...
I wonder if he was the leak many speculated about. Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero As expected, assistant GM Brian Gaine and the Dolphins have parted ways. Gaine was only finalists not offered GM job. Clear message to him.
I know he was Ireland's right hand man and all, and we all know my thoughts on Ireland. But I really would have felt so so so much better about Gaine as GM over Hickey, all jokes about being the sexiest candidate aside. Not great mind you, but better. At least there would have been a continuity factor and he was his own man. It's sad he didn't get the job because Ross had to hire an outside guy to save face.
Don't like this guy already. First move : Get rid of your potential replacement next year if you choke. Oh boy I cant wait to see what happens next.
Philbin and Hickey will get 2 years barring an absolute collapse (6-10 or worse), and I don't see the current nucleus of the team doing that. Nor do I see them getting into the playoffs convincingly the way the roster is now, and how they performed at the end of last season.
I'm pretty sure this is standard with almost every single new GM....why wouldn't he want to bring in his own staff...
Your right...lets fire him! Why should he work with people he is confident in or actually knows?!!! This is outlandish! Oh boy I cant wait to see what nonsense is posted next. Ireland got 6 yrs...Hickey gets a couple of days...Dont like this guy already? sheesh
Because it worked so well in Tampa? Really are you that naive that you don't see what is going on here. He knows soooooooo many "people" that he was passed over for 18 ****ing years
Because it worked out so well for Gaine and Ireland in Miami?? lol I know you write things just to get a response but....This is the best you can come up with on Gaine leaving the Dolphins...Yikes
Gaine was leaving no matter what... that much was obvious... but let the new guy bring in his own people ffs....wtf. Such spazzes. Go outside or something.
Whatever. We should have made the playoffs last year with the talent we currently have. The coaches had this team crap the bed. One of two games is all we needed. We didn't get beat. We got smoked. We don't beat teams like Indy, Kansas City, New England and Cincinnati and then lay down for teams like Tampa, Buffalo and the Jets who we soundly beat two weeks previously. Soundly as in whipped their A$$. There is a ton of talent on this team, put there by Ireland and Gaine. A coup at the highest levels. There did I come up with something better. I think the coaches didn't coach as hard, because well.....I'll let you decide They (Philbin and Aponte) got what they wanted : Ireland out and now they are finishing the deal by outing Gaine
I'm sorry, I respectfully disagree...we had one and a half (Pouncey and McKinnie for 6 games) OL on the entire team. We had a sh!! load of FAs trying to be integrated into new systems, a developing TE that arguably didn't do much in the first half of the year, we had RBs (plural) that under-performed all year, some of that may have been due to the OL, but not all of it, we had one very good CB (that Ireland acquired) and one good one that couldn't stay on the field because of injuries, our #3 CB performed well enough, but not greatly, and so on. While I'll admit the team underperformed late in the season, the onus was not on the coaching staff for the entirety of the season... Aponte and Philbin may or may not have wanted Gaine ousted, but that move was made because of two reasons....1) Gaine was passed over for the GM spot and 2) Hickey wanted it that way...this was his move all over...besides, Aponte and Philbin do NOT have authority to fire Gaine...
Gaine escorted from the building...and he first heard about Hickey getting the job the same way we all did...through the media. RT @AdamHBeasley: Also in my story: Gaine found out that he didn't get the job from media accounts. what a classy organization
Will be curious to see if the next few years have more quality people (players, execs and coaches) leaving than arriving.
Wow. Quickly sliding toward Miami Marlins on the sports organization scale. Pretty close to Oakland Raiders too.
Great then Hickey should fit in with the great moral led dolphins. Hickey is known to treat his lower staff like ****. I guess he brings that wonderful moral to the team as well. They couldn't even tell Gaine he didn't get the job. He found out through the media. Nice ****ing leadership .
Ya just can't make this sh*t up. Now we know why they hired Hickey, same morals. I have never seen as much ineptitude in any sport --- ever
Im with you but for whatever reason Ross is all in for Philbin, can't say I agree with that but I will reserve judgement until I see what they put together.
Just sayin...maybe want to find out both sides of story. But letting him go was the correct move IMO..for Hickey. He has to be top dog. Cant have others looking at Gaine as though he was. Hickeys job is to create a unified front office...working from one script. Sometimes that means breaking a few eggs. Good move in my opinion. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
In all this..we only hear from those that leave. We dont know what was said. Funny how...if its a story you want to hear...youll believe it as gospel. Because you hate the Hickey pick...you eat up anything negative about the guy. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
Pretty common to escort people out of the building in the corporate world. I'm leery of believing any reports out there from "sources". Those sources botched the bullygate and GM search stories.
