I can't recall. But as far as we know the subpoena was for gun running.

Noticing that some advocate a clean sweep of our O line, with the the exception of Pouncey, to bring in high character guys why would you excuse Pouncey? Given that he is a good player yet how do you over look his low life character and possible involvement with Hernandez and its legal/illegal consequence?

IMV it only assures for a continuation of the mess we now see plus guarantees more of the same season ending results we viewed this year.

I think it's just daunting to try and replace all five of your OL in one off season. That's how you get an "expansion level" line. That and hiring Jeff Ireland as your GM.

Pouncey, Incognito, Jerry and Clabo were proven starters, Garner was a proven back up and spot starter. That's not even close to expansion level.

Yea, that september exchange does make Pouncey look real bad.

In my opinion, Incognito and martin didnt want to continue taking "molly" or blow..... and Pouncey, or the people he was with had plenty of it. Maybe Pouncey hangs out with people that had Cog and pssybtch uncomfortable.
Im sure that has the conservative peeps on this site crying to lynch pouncey. But it just cements my position that these pro football players have lives of their own, details i dont WANT to know about. pouncey is still a pro bowl center.

Im sure there were players in that locker room that said no thanks when the night began and went home. Martin and incognito both accepted. Those are the facts

    It's amazing.

Leaving aside the drug scene - What is bad to me, is Martin doing this to Incognito - when clearly they were friends. And then, Incognito sent him a serious text that said:

"All that's important is that you feel better and know we miss you dude."

I can't wait until both of these dumba$$es are out of the news. I feel dirty for having cheered for a "team" with these two players on it and Ireland chasing away people like Jake Long.

Not that I'm hopeful for the 2014 season, but I am just so glad all three of those team killers are gone. And I can't believe there are fans who would want a douche like Incognito back just because Martin turned out to be a fraud...Why not sign Ochocinco also?

I'm glad Incognito asks Martin if he went to Pouncey's house & Martin responds "No drugs for me rest of season". So maybe that's why we have/had the worst O-Line in the NFL...They were either having meetings at strip clubs or doing drugs at Pouncey's. I guess this isn't new info? I haven't been paying much attention in recent weeks, so its new to me.

You're absolutely right, this whole thread between Incognito and Martin was ugly already, but as Abramson said, we really never should have been subjected to the raw conversations between them.

As much as I'm always in favor of facing reality head-on, I wish this whole thing would go away soon.

until/if Incognito is released, there is a real possibility of his return. all this hype & banter is ridiculous. in the end, our two pro-bowlers & best linesmen are Pouncey & Incognito. all the bluster & hypocrisy around the both of them is hubris... either you want to win or you want to have the nicest offensive line in the NFL. personally, I'd take mean, nasty & talented over nice. I play to win & to those whose salary depends on winning, they play to win too! this is not fantasy football, local politics or your church, it is the NFL.
much to do about nothing... :omg:

my bad, I know he is a free agent. but he loves Miami & the team is very fond of him... under present circumstances, I believe a franchise friendly contract could be worked out & should be. it would be mutually beneficial. you just can't replace four out of five offensive linesmen & expect a winning season the same year. the two that are definitively starting keepers & team leaders are Pouncey & Incognito... simple as that!

yes, I agree with you Martin was a coward & a very selfish one at that...
having agreed with you, I would add that the team has suffered enough through his treachery & it's time to turn the page & play football without the ghost of his cowardly & unbecoming actions negatively influencing the franchise. we need to field a play-off bound team in 2014. Incognito should come home.

THose are terrible texts for any public consumption. That said, the whole reason for their release was Martin releasing the few from Incognito in the first place.

I am not discounting that Martin felt intimidated. But, he gave it back to Cogs. And, more than that, it is very clear that Incognito actually liked Martin and just has a terribly filthy mouth for friendly trash talking. The final set of texts demonstrate this.

So, what is the league going to do now? Pass a rule that texts between players cannot include any bad language? Or insinuate anything?

In reality, from the text evidence alone and from the testimony of other players, I don't think the league can really say much. Martin was intimidated and did not handle it well. If, after he left the team, he said some things generically or wrote a letter to the coaches and ownership, without throwing Incognito under the bus, then I think things could have been handled better.

Cogs is a comedic genius. Still can't see the Phins bringing him back, but someone will pick him up. Martin, however, needs a new job.

I just cannot follow this line of reasoning... I simply don't think it is reasonable to throw one of the best guards in the NFL & a team leader under the bus in the name of political correctness or cowardly gossip. I believe the issue will be revisited & serious consideration given to returning Incognito, if the Dolphins are serious about a winning season & play-off run in 2014. Philbin's job depends on it.

IMO Richie is getting the raw end of this deal and I definitely think he has been one of our better OL over the past few years. However, even without Bullygate, I think Richie's days may have been numbered. His play was down this year, he isn't getting any younger and he is not an ideal fit for a zone blocking scheme. If you are looking for some continuity, I'd resign Mckinney to a 2-year deal and then draft an OT to groom to replace him. I'd let the rook battle with Dallas Thomas for the RT spot and then pick up some experienced guards in FA.

I think everyone's focusing on Jonathan Martin (a scumbag) betraying Richie Incognito (another scumbag).

But nobody is focusing on Richie Incognito having betrayed several teammates by releasing that full text history to the press. By releasing the texts, he's linked Mike Pouncey and Will Yeatman explicitly to drugs. He also linked several other teammates whose names were redacted by the media outlet that released the text history for legal reasons, when he said that they showed up to a place "doobies deep". He also very likely dragged a teammate forcefully out of the closet.

What about Richie Incognito's betrayal of all of those people? Nobody focusing on that?

I thought the most telling text was when Martin bailed on the charity event and Incognito told him to contact the charity and pay them back for his plane ticket because it was the right thing to do. A total example of a vet taking a younger player and showing him the way to carry himself.

Martin went out of his way to betray Richie. Any betrayal on the part of Richie IMO was damage control and protecting his image.

This is a big deal too. All the drug use conversations they had together are damning to the other players that initially weren't involved in this at all.
Do we know who initially provided these texts to the league office? Martin was said to not cooperate with the investigation, maybe he didn't want to incriminate all his other teammates?
Maybe Incognito provided the texts to clear his name, blindly handing over his phone without thinking of the reprocussions of everything else in the messages?
We are just seeing these texts now, I'm sure the league saw them back in november when this all broke...

My point is it doens't really matter IMO as a player if the public knows I smoke a little weed. And obviously he didn't mind the public knowing he pays for sex most of the time. But I wonder who provided all this initially to the league office, because they probably care a lot more.

There is NO DIFFERENCE in what Richie Incognito did by releasing these texts to the media compared with what Jonathan Martin did.

In fact Richie's offense is probably worse because Martin purposely only released very specific and targeted texts and voicemails to the media. He was careful not to incriminate other teammates. Incognito just went scorched earth for his own SELFISH reasons.

That's what it comes down to. Jonathan Martin is not just accusing Incognito of bullying. He's accusing the locker room atmosphere of being hostile and the closest evidence he had to hand was the texts and voicemails from Incognito. So he released those in order to selfishly make his case that his mental problems were the result of the workplace environment. Incognito was really just collateral damage to that selfish aim.

Well now Richie Incognito is trying to prove he's not a bully. He has a selfish aim of his own. So he's releasing this giant glob of texts that link teammates explicitly to drugs and may even drag another teammate out of the closet.

If you're Mike Pouncey, Will Yeatman, Josh Samuda, (name redacted) or even Sam Brenner then what Richie Incognito just did to YOU is no different whatsoever than what Jonathan Martin did to Richie Incognito. No difference.

Yes there is a difference. Richie was backed into a corner and had to release his texts in response to Martin, to defend himself. Big difference.

Sorry, I'm confused for some reason and I'm serious. What do you mean?

Do you think he would have been able to cherry pick the texts he released? Not sure that is possible. Don't know.

    Bingo.

So now Mike Pouncey, Will Yeatman and others are going to release a bunch of private stuff to try and get back at Richie Incognito for their own selfish purposes, and in the process they will hurt other people, who in turn start airing dirty laundry in order to defend themselves, and so on.

It all started with Jonathan Martin's targeted release of texts but even he was "backed into a corner". He just had a mental breakdown. He left the team during the NFL season and checked himself into a mental hospital. If he didn't do anything then he (and his representation) had to consider it pretty likely he would find himself unsellable (see: Robbins, Barrett). He had to find a way to explain his breakdown as the result of unusual circumstances. Richie Incognito was just collateral damage, the nearest evidence to hand that he could point at and say the locker room forced me into this.

Absolutely he could have. This is a mass of texts that Incognito's lawyer specifically released to the media. This is not coming from the Wells report. Ted Wells would never release this stuff to the media.

The league office tells Martin they wanna see all the texts and Martin won't "cooperate". They then go to Incognito and say, you will never play again in the NFL unless you cooperate with this investigation. We want to see all the texts between you to make sure criminal charges aren't brought against you because these Martin allegations are serious.

I thik his hand might have been forced. I doubt he could say, I can't give you all the texts but I'll pick and choose some. The league wanted to know exactly what the nature of their relationship was, and now they see it. None of this would have been leaked if Martin didn't first threaten legal action against the team, and the NFL, and also slander Incognitos name all for a few bucks. It's not like he released this after the investigation was over as an F you to his teammates, this is all information that is already in the report that's gonna be released on thursday I'm sure.
