hypothetically speaking of course. Given the recent story and Ross' previous dalliance with Harbaugh, would you be willing to trade a draft pick for him in 2015? Assuming Hickey/Philbin doesn't work out and Harbaugh can't agree to an extension with Frisco, I think the odds are pretty high Ross would do everything in his power to acquire him. The question is would he be worth a draft pick + huge salary + personnel control.
I definitely would give him the keys but as usual Ross has practically made that imposible by demanding preconditions as to which employees should be retained. We will never get a high profile HC or GM until he makes a clean sweep of those people who have proved to be losers if the candidate demands it.
Yeah but I don't see this happening. IF there was a serious power struggle in SF he would probably win and I don't see money being an issue. Something crazy would have to happen for him to become available.
No way.. I just could not watch him week in week out jumping up and down on our sidelines throwing his teddy, dummy and whatever else he can out of his cot when a decision goes against him. Guy can coach agreed but Jesus he is a moron as mentioned earlier.
I would be happy to have had the last couple of seasons the 49ers have had under him. Hell yes, why is it even a question?
Hypothetically maybe, but I feel the Dolphins would have difficulty recruiting any successful coach to Miami.
As opposed to our stoic leader......gee which one would you rather have? And who cares what the coach is doing on the sideline? Have you ever watched a game for the coach?
Sure. Even if it didn't work out, it means Ross would be hands off and probably some of the **** smears involved with football operations of this team will be ejected.
Hell no. For one his contract is up after this next year and if SF is seriously listening to offers for him then I think it's likely they won't resign him. Secondly, he behaves like every small, spoiled child I've ever encountered. Third, it should be telling that a team like SF, which has been successful by most people's standards, doesn't seem to want him back.
I'ma get flamed for this...but no. In fact, I think he's over rated, in that his star is going to burn out very quickly, pretty soon. I think he's going to lose his team at some point in the near future and they are going to spiral out of control. He is a loose cannon, IMO.
The last time we gave up a draft pick for a HC, it worked out pretty good. I'm not sure it works that way anymore, there are different rules now but I'd do it...
yes...one every day and two on Sundays. Yes...yes...yes. Harbaugh is my dream coach Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
Not only is he a great coach, but he had the vision to select colin Kaepernick, dismiss an already effective Qb in smith, and has been to a conference champ and Super Bowl with that guy.. Yes, I would do it in a heart beat..
Don't believe SF is splitting with Harbaugh. Not at all. Guy turned that team around completely. They'd be idiots.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/1...francisco-head-coach-jim-harbaugh-draft-picks They did try, they didn't, .....who knows? There does seem to be a geniune divide between him and management for whatever the reason. I doubt its money. If he doesn't have a deal in place going into the last year of his deal then you really have to start and wonder what really is going on.
Isn't Harbough's contract up after the 2014/2015 season? So if we are going to wait and see if Hickey/Philbin work out why would we need to trade for Harbough? Won't he essentially be a FA and available to the highest bidder (assuming he doesn't sign an extension)?
Deadspin has a nice summary of the alleged issues with Harbaugh and 49ers management: Has Jim Harbaugh Worn Out His Welcome In San Francisco?
I think Jed York would claim that SF was more inept than Miami over the last decade before Jed York. He became CEO of the 49ers in 2011, and then hired Jim Harbaugh while elevating Trent Baalke to GM. That's kind of the point. A lot of people behind the scenes in the 49ers organization will have had their egos inflated by the team's success, and are likely to be a little bit miffed that Jim Harbaugh is being given all of the credit. It doesn't help that Harbaugh himself is kind of a jerk and really wears on people that work with him behind the scenes. I'm not saying Harbaugh will for sure split with the 49ers. But I am saying that there's a reason the Cleveland Browns and the University of Texas and the USC Trojans all came sniffing this off season. And it's especially telling that the Browns came sniffing, because their General Manager at the time was Mike Lombardi who remains to this day close friends with Jim Harbaugh. Would anyone be so naive as to think the two friends never speak casually, off the record? In fact I heard after Lombardi was fired that one of the big reasons he and Banner were fired was because they could not follow through on their promises to Jimmy Haslam about who they could hire at head coach in place of Rob Chudzinski. Connect the dots here. Mike Lombardi and Joe Banner promised they could bring in Harbaugh or perhaps one or two alternatives (probably one of them being Chip Kelly in 2012)...and they continually struck out. They were fired for that.
I was careful to say "I think". I'm not basing my stance on anything other than the impression I've gotten from his interviews and interactions I've witnessed. Based ont hat stuff, i don't think he's completely emotionally stable. i don't think he has the ability to keep the team together through a major scandal or season threatening injuries. His ego is massive and apparently to the point that the people whose living depends on how well he coaches are considering letting him go. This is isn't like Al Davis being crazy and letting Gruden go. Or Jerry Jones being Jerry Jones and letting JJ go. These are a group of people whop also happen to be excellent at their jobs getting fed up with his insanity. Ultimately, I think Harbaugh knows how to get the most out of a QB, and that goes along way with the talent the 49ers have.
