Obviously a trade between the Jets-Dolphins will be rare although it has happened involving Wes Welker, but would you guys take our 3rd for him straight up?

might be a classic dolphin case of keeping somebody I year to long.In this case its Philbin as he almost made the playoffs with no contribution from Jordan. The offensive line was his downfall. He needs to win to stay employed so his solution is to trade Jordan and get two high pick offensive lineman that can start right away and fix his most glaring need.Of course being a dolphin fan the 2 lineman will suck and Jordan will go on to make the hall of fame.

Depending on price, I wouldn't mind it. His injury history is a little concerning. Haven't heard about pot or work ethic issues previously, but if they are true, then yeah makes sense to move on.

Wonder if maybe we would actually look for a player as well as or instead of a pick though. Mid-tier OT/G and a draft pick or two?

This team is beyond a joke at this point. They are literally an embarrassment to the NFL.

Embarrassment to the NFL? Are you serious? Ya...the NFL, above all in ethics and propriety...embarrassed by the Dolphins...not by murderers, but by the Dolphins...

    Embarrassment to fans maybe...

I would hope someone who visits here would understand the game a bit more than this statement would suggest, unless of course trolling is what is going on here.

This was talked about months ago. Apparently the Eagles have interest in him. Philbin reportedly has full final 53 control so if they don't like him, it makes sense that he's getting shopped.

I would have thought they'd have tried to get more usage out of him if they planned on moving him but at the same time Ireland was still GM.

I liked what I saw in limited action, but sample size concerns are there. I have more concerns about the coaching staff though. Between the report about Philbin liking Matt Moore a lot and the lack of creativity in finding a spot for Jordan in the D, I'm less optimistic this offseason. The trend is that coaches who tailor their planning to their available talent pool are doing well. You saw that with Harbaugh and Alex Smith in SF, Mike McCoy in Denver as OC, and to a good extent, Kelly in Philly. Parcellian hard-headedness is on its way out.

At first I was like... no way... no way this is true.. It's LaCrapfora talking here...

Then realized this is the Dolphins we're talking about, and got a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach...

...and was overcome with mixed emotions of anger, disgust, and deep deep sadness...

But I've since cooled off... and everything is okay now. It's all okay... Everything is just fine.

    Just fine.

LaCanfora has been wrong but he's also done things like break the Harbaugh-Baalke rift. We'll see what happens, this can be somewhat expected from a GM change. Is there a team in the latter half of the first round that needs an OLB and would be willing to give up a pick?

Nope. I'm not convinced Clowney will be the real deal and even if he is, I'd rather have a slightly lesser player like Dion Jordan who is more flexibld in his roles along with two first rounders than just Clowney.

Lol so our "stop-gap" GM is going to trade all our valuable pieces and try to rebuild a team from the ground up that missed the playoff by 1 win. Can't wait to watch the implosion...

Also I'm told Dolphins haven't actively shopped Dion Jordan and have had no discussions about trading Wake or Wallace.

If this come to fruition, how glaring is that, about the assessment by Philbin of Ireland. It's a complete indictment. The report also says Wallace and Cam Wake are being shopped as well. If Jordan and Wallace are gone it's a total face slap of Ireland.

    I'm not buying this story.

    1) Other teams will consider him to be damaged goods if the 'phins are shipping him after only 1 season. Therefore they are going to offer considerably reduced offers for him, 3rd round pick etc.
    2) He spent a lot of the season rehabbing/nursing a shoulder surgery. Shoulder injuries are well known to take up to 18 months to recover from surgery. The investment the 'phins have made in him is too high to take the risk that he fully recovers and becomes a genuine star.
    3) He has played well in the limited snaps he has been on the field for. As for the shoulder injury you are risking trading away a genuine star after we've spent time and money training him how to play in the NFL.
    4) I'd need someone expert in NFL caps to tell me this, but I understand that the cap hit for trading away first rounders after 1 year was prohibitive.

The only way a trade involving Dion Jordan makes any sense for the 'phins is if another team offers multiple high round picks for him. Minimum price to get to the negotiating table should be a 1st and a 3rd for a deal to make sense for the 'phins. On the other hand what team is going to offer that price for a player who only had limited reps and is coming off shoulder surgery?

Logically the 'phins will require a top shelf price to sell, and logically another team should only offer bargain bin price to buy. The same logic applies to Wallace for similar reasons.

Of the named players only Cameron Wake makes sense as trade bait.

Isn't his dead money at something like 17 million? I doubt this happens.. The most you will get for Dion is a late first and 4th round pick or two second round picks. Anyone that thinks we're getting something more than that is delusional. The guy's shoulder is a huge question mark and at this point the Dolphins don't even know if he can win a starting job.

More or less, we are media targets and will remain so until the season starts.

However, do think the Kraken is on the trade block, have since Dio was drafted.

The rumor could be a trial balloon by the team.Definitely deniable and likely to raise dust in the NFL.Some of that dust could mask true interest in those players by some teams. We will never know about it because if there is any interest it will all be dealt with through back channels.

No where in there does it say that the Dolphins are trying to trade either player.

    http://www.rantsports.com/nfl/2014/...dion-jordan-trade-could-have-multiple-layers/

I agree with the author that Hickey should be listening to every offer for every player on the roster not named Tannehill.

People have to realize that it's the time of year where teams are trying to gauge what other teams are doing. A GM may have called Hickey up and asked who is available on your roster. Hickey states that anyone is potentially available for the right price. GM goes back to his coach and says, "Hey, Dion Jordan in Miami could be had for the right price." A staffer, janitor, etc... hears this and calls LaCanfora and says Miami is shopping Jordan... this becomes LaCanfora's source, so he tweets it.

I think it's all BS, but IF they trade Jordan, it would cost them 10M and they would only save 5M. Wallace would cost them 8.8M, but would save a whopping 47M. No one wants to pay a pansy 15M a season, so we're stuck with him. Wake would cost Miami 4.3M to trade him but would save 22.5M. Wake could potentially draw a low first, but likely a second or third round pick. When healthy he is still one of the better pass rushers in the NFL, but he's 32 coming off an injury plagued season.

Bottom line - of course Miami is denying they are talking to other teams about trading Jordan, but I have no doubt they would at least listen to offers. It's only smart.

Yes, they've debunked it, but likely with the same media type spin the media you speak so defiantly about has  Typically, i agree with your stance, but lets be serious here, the media spin works both ways.

There's a topic worth discussing here, there was smoke well before this report that Philbin and company were not happy with Jordan. His lack of playing time supports the fact there's some issue here that we don't know about, even when considering what the Dolphins, and what the media have told us.

Honestly, as I said earlier... Trading Jordan wouldn't surprise me. Whether thats because the current FO and coaching staff is incompetent, or whether its because we blew the pick of Jordan with the previous FO, or whether thats because Jordan just doesn't have it. Given the track record of all of the above, I wouldn't be shocked.

I personally don't understand the freak out... let's not pretend we're trading away Jason Taylor in his prime... If someone made the right offer, we have to consider it.

If the Eagles' called and said we'll offer Lane Johnson and a second round pick for the guy, you guys wouldn't be interested? It fills a need, Lane will only get better.
