    Damn, dude.

Plus, neither of those guys would be able to surreptitiously join that cult—they'd be recognized in half a second. That Rust has been conducting an unofficial investigation? Absolutely.

something that struck me a bit was when Maggie (I think it was her) said when she was being interviewed that Marty had found religion for a while (I believe it was between 1995 and 2002). That would seem to jive with the possibility that he was somehow influenced along the way... but it also coincides with the time that he wasn't cheating on his wife (that we know of).

So who is the giant with the scarring around his mouth? It wasn't Ledoux.

A combination of a ceremonial mask and the mind of child, grappling with the horror of her reality and producing that one image to make sense of it.

He was a member of some "promises" group. A support group for cheating spouses. I'm not sure how much Marty really embraced it, but good catch none the less.

  6. I still feel like this story narrative has a david lynch twin peaks feel to it all which could fit the narrative of Marty being enslaved to greater forces, This is also a common Lovecraft narrative as well. I can envision the story being that there is a dark ancient force that uses peoples as its vessel on our plane of existence and it just moves from one person to another. It could be used to explain why he killed Leduex and cause him to be the one to hurt his own daughter, etc... It could also be a launching point for a series where these murders seem unlinked and start and stop without the benefit of a reasonable explination. The series could be season after season of following the dark entity from one host to another. Not saying this the direction they headed but I would not be surprised if they did.

in the last episode... doesn't the girl that Marty sleeps with and his wife Maggie order the same drink at the bar? Vodka Martini extra dirty? I didn't go back and rewatch it, but I recall the extra dirty part.

Heard a theory where Marty and Rust have been working the case together for a while in present time. End of last week works against that theory, but wanted to put it out there.

What if it's Maggie that's mixed up in all of this and not Marty?

The girls who talked to Marty at the revival tent also told him of the tall man with the scars on his face.

I think this is a callback to an idea posted earlier of the women reminding Marty of a younger version of his wife.

That was my theory. It doesn't discount it entirely, though every week it looks more and more like Marty is the bad guy. I still think Rust has never dropped the case. The end of episode 3 in the abandoned school makes that clear.

I feel like the first few episodes pegged Rust and the last couple pegged Marty/Tuttle.

The show does an amazing job of keeping the viewer off-balance

So you are watching it again?

I think Maggie is only important to Hart's view of women as either angels or whores. It was like when I put you on a pedestal until we banged. Then I didn't want anything to do with you

My .02 thus far. It's apparent that children are a large part of this story's there's a ton of symbolism threaded throughout.

    Murder Scene
    [IMG]

Child's "crown" when they were playing outside that got thrown into the tree.

I can't post it for nudity reasons, but watch the into. There's a playground that has a slide that looks like a stiletto heel.

Also Rust is right. There's a police coverup. "Big people" are involved.....I think this guy is one of them. He was there right after they caught the case in episode 1.

And again this past episode when they were getting yelled at and Rust got suspended

And he was of course there in episode 1 when Tuttle started the task force.

They also talked about the Bunny Ranch and the Sheriff having known what was going on, with an under aged girl. The first episode when the preacher reported the rabbit mutilations and no on bothered to investigate, and the girl who was chased by the spaghetti monster and wasn't taken seriously.

Thinking its Tuttle with this guy pulling strings in the dept. not sure about scars on the face guy.

After he shot leduex and they started firing at the other guy, did he explode? What that some super natural **** or did he just trigger a trip wire set to a grenade?

That's what I thought just didn't know if it was going to be THAT type of story.

I went back and watched the first episode. Rust seems like he knows a lot off hand and Marty mentions his books the books were sex crimes books rust had in his apartment, and that was before they got the case.

The grey hard cop is involved IMO. As mentioned earlier, he was there right away after case broke and other times.

I'm really stumped on how this all works out

I'm still most intrigued with the idea of witnessing something that makes you lose your mind. The old lady they visited saw it for sure. "You know Carcosa?" Unlike the young girl Rust rescued and visited, the old lady wasn't disturbed by it so much. It was more like she was lost without it

I'm sincerely not trying to bust your balls, but I don't think that was a subtle thing. I think it was a baseball bat upside the head swung by a screaming Viking in full on berserker mode while wearing bells.

Fair enough. I thought so too, but nothing was mentioned so far.

    Here is a good read:

    http://www.thedailybeast.com/articl...e-know-up-to-episode-7-after-you-ve-gone.html

A very good summary of what we know at this point in the story.

No. I just thought it was odd for someone to think like that. I knew from a very young age that I wanted to sell my body

Not sure. But I do recall it. Someone made a tumblr lol http://rustchole.tumblr.com/post/77011597653/i-lack-the-constitution-for-suicide

I don't think either one of them expect to come back. I don't think it's by suicide

I think he said it back in the 90's, which could mean he has that constitution now.

Damn. I remember seeing that scene and thinking it looked like scars, but writing it off as being light on his goofy facial hair patches. That and being irritated that Rust got called to the car abruptly. I was re-watching these to see if I could catch it, but I hadn't gotten this far yet :(

That is correct. He said it in the first episode when he was sharing his philosophy on life. In last night's episode he made reference that he's finally had enough and when the old black women starts yammering about Carcosa, she says that death is not the end, and Rust said something like he hopes it is.

I never saw scars in that 3rd episode, just a ratty beard. A lot of the scarring is on the right cheek, which we never get a good look at in episode 3. I don't think Rust did either. That would be something he would have picked up on. Last night, you could see it when he gets up off his lawnmower. But I know several people that missed it and thought it was scruff. You can find good shots online.

I think this case and show will unfold next week somewhat organically, with new info and breaks. I don't think it will be a major twist or surprise. Perhaps past characters briefly introduced may play into the finale, but I think it may just develop naturally.

Not sure how Rust didn't figure out the landscaper is the man with the scars by now.
