I thought Davis was from the DC area when drafted. Did his grandma already live in Miami when he was drafted or did he move her there after that and she just stayed after he was traded?

I would not address corner in free agency, other than resigning Carroll. We need to see what we have in Jamar Taylor. Wilson's metrics in the slot last year were top 5-10. 3rd in lowest passer rating allowed in the slot. 7th in cover snaps per reception, 10th in yards per cover snap, 14th in cover snaps per target. His 2 ints tied for 3rd for number made while in slot coverage. Considering he and Carroll have both eventually blossomed as DBs, and they were Ireland picks, I think we need to see how his last two corner draft picks develop before giving up too soon. I was ready to give up on Carroll before 2013, and looking back, that was premature and incorrect.

Now, if Hickey wants to upgrade safety in free agency with one of two former Oregon Ducks, Jairus Byrd or TJ Ward, then heck yes.

I like Ward as a SS but Jones is pretty much cemented there and I'd take Clemons over Ward as a FS. Byrd is a big upgrade at FS but he comes with a much bigger price tag. Last year it was Davis, Dansby and Burnett, this year it's Soliai and Starks. How many good players are we going to lose?

There are homers, and then there are HOMERUS EXTREMITUS. Some of you go even beyond that.

Vontae Davis had one interception last season. ONE. He had 12 passes defensed. In SIXTEEN full games.

And he's still using SH*T FOR BRAINS.

And there's still a clamor from the walkers to bring him back; to compound the mistake that cost us a 1st-round pick.

    Wow.

But no, go ahead. By all means, keep lining the chain link fence and making those guttural sounds.

No way you offer Browner more than 1 year. Too many issues. Or maybe you structure it in such a way to protect from his substance abuse issues.

Carroll would be the best number 3 in the league. He isn't steady enough, IMO, to be a starter. The two starters you want to not necessarily be lock down, but never have huge brain farts. That's the definition of Champ Bailey in recent years, and why he has been able to hang on. Carroll to me is unsteady enough to cause an issue as a starting boundary guy.

Browner's only issues so far have been getting caught doing what everyone else does. Miami hasn't had many people get busted on PED's so I trust our system to keep him safe.

EDIT: He'd be banned the first 4 games of the season which will make him even cheaper. He is my second FA priority at this point. Eugene Monroe is number 1.

People get way too hung up on PFF numbers. PFF is, IMO, very important for assessing O-Lineman absent game film. Their grades aren't meant to be ordinal data. It's not contextual. Somebody could have 15 -1.0 games and 1 +20.0 game and end up with a season +5.0. That's why it's not meant to rank guys. Davis is the very definition of a player who has great games and clunkers, but averages out to a good player. Problem with that is at CB, you win more games with a consistently solid guy vs. a up and down player.

Carroll may not have the talent that Browner-Shields do but he's solid, he continues to improve, he played hurt last year, and he's a born and bred Dolphin. I'd rather bring him back at 5-6 million per than pay the 8-9-10 million it's going to take to get one of the other guys.

Browner can't ask that much. He's banned the first 4 games of 2014 and is probably another violation away from a year long ban. If he's not an idiot, he'll be the nicest guy on the team. He'll be about $6 million max and doesn't preclude you from re-signing Carroll. He, Carroll, and Clemons in total should cost you $16 million max in combined average yearly salary.

Good point, thanks for the correction on Browner. The drug issues concern me though, and Miami is a much harder place to keep your nose clean than Seattle is IMO.

I'm with you, I'd would love to have Clemons back, another born and bred Dolphin who's earned a new deal IMO.

Marijuana is still banned in the NFL. It is legal in Seattle. So suck it!

Plus every player on the Seahawks love PEDs.

Not sure. You'd have to confirm with her agent, Drew Rosenhaus.

I don't understand this. Carroll was a starter on the NFL's 5th best pass defense (passer rating allowed). His personal passer rating allowed was 9th best among CBs who played 25+% of snaps. His completion percentage allowed was 4th best. He gave up only 2 TDs (compared to 3 INTs), never gave up 100 yards receiving in a game and gave up only 1 pass over 35 yards. He was pretty darn steady.

Last year I think Clemons resigned for 1 yr for less than he could have gotten in free agency, then he totally outplays Jones. There wouldn't be anything wrong with just resigning the home grown DBs and working in the 3 rookies from last year as possible.

What did grimes just get, 4/32? No way in hell Carroll is getting 5-6.

Does anyone know if we have that Owens guys for next year?

Monroe your first choice? Torn b/w him and Albert who seems like everybody says is the best pas blocker. CK has me wondering about Collins too.
