No soup for you.. Lets hope our boy is sleeping at headquarters.. Time to shake up this linebacker group, we've heard that Ellerbe will be moved to the outside, that's at least a start, now we gotta figure out how to get this freak on the field on every play..I have to believe that Coyle is at least smart enough to do that.. Change the scheme to fit your players personnel, build around this kids skillset, do whatever's necessary..ya hear.
Thanks man, should put that discussion to rest. Where was the news about Ellerbe moving outside? I don't remember hearing that before. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
It was in the Herald yesterday. If Jackson gets signed, Ellerbe moves to Will and Wheeler would compete with Misi at Sam if he stays. http://miamiherald.typepad.com/spor...t-cb-and-more-rileys-view-um-heat-luongo.html
It should, but it won't. There have been soooooooooooooooo many stories that have been debunked but are still considered true, our fans would believe in Martians riding flying hippos if it was a negative towards our team.
Heh. This desire to move elite physical talent off the roster in favor of plow horses is amusing in our fanbase. But hey at least the whole "Hartline does not score Td's!" stuff finally died, so the Dio stuff should suffer the same fate sooner or later.
I won't believe you about there no being Martians riding hippos. Jason La Confara stated that there were, with Armando confirming it.
Weird, it's almost like someone in the media fabricated a story to get more attention and ultimately sell more advertising without any basis for their story.....
No sure why they wouldn't listen....not say you have to do a trade but at least listen.... IMO Grimes/THill is the only untouchable....
Because it would have been said they were shopping DJ like they said before. This is why i harp on this stuff about the media all the time. The media (and fan reaction to this crap) is actually hurting the team.
4 touchdowns is some sort of big accomplishment? The bar must be set really low for Hartline then. The guy is not a red zone threat, neither is Wallace. We need an upgrade at receiver just as much as we need offensive linemen.
If Coyle is determined to stick with the 4-3 then I don't see how Jordan ever lives up to his potential. I swear no one does a better job of not playing to their player's strengths than this staff.
I can see him succeeding at DE a la Michael Johnson if he gets stronger functionally. I'd be disappointed if he doesn't overtake OV at some point this year.
When we run some 3-4 play LB, fill in a little at 4-3 LB, split a little more time with OV, fill in for Wake more as he ages. With his athleticism there should be plenty of snaps for him to be able to grow this year.
How big is Johnson? Cause Jordan looks like he plays in the 245-250 range. I think Vernon is the more natural DE. He was probably the only front 7 guy we had who's better in a 4-3. Soliai, Starks, Wake, Ellerbe, Misi, all 3-4 guys.
Soliai and Starks are pretty good 4-3 guys. In fact, I think Starks is much better 4-3 than 3-4. So is Wake. To be honest I don't see how Wake is a better 3-4 person at all.
That would be awesome IMO. Unfortunately it looks like we are letting Soliai and Starks walk and the 3-4 ideas are probably leaving with them. I don't want it to happen but I wouldn't be surprised if Jordan was traded, especially to a 3-4 team like Philly.
Great Hoppin' Horney Toads!!! Did you HAVE to drag THAT up again! Some people seem to forget that side of the team - in fact, some teams seem to forget that side of the team - like Green Bay! I have noticed something in the past 50 years of watching & playing football. If the other team scores 0 points, they don't win! That seems to have happened to us a couple of times in the past year or so.
Amen. As the SB showed, a dominant defense can completely embarrass the greatest statistical offense of all time.
After we stated unequivocally that Dion wasn't available, I wonder what the Eagles said when we surely followed up with the question about Lane Johnson's availability?
They're all decent players in a 4-3, just not as good as they are in a 3-4. Soilai and Starks especially. Those guys are two gap space eaters not one gap penetrators. Coyle had them out there running slants, stunts, shooting gaps etc when their strengths are locking down gaps and keeping their LBs clean.
You can use two gap space eaters in the 4-3. Jimmy Johnson's 4-3 defense was dependent on having two, two gap space eaters, which allowed Zach Thomas to roam free. IMO, Starks is the perfect 4-3 defensive tackle. He is a good 3-4 defense end as well. Soilai, I would also have better in 4-3 because he is athletic enough to be more than a nose guard space eater. Odrick on the other hand is a prototypical 3-4 defensive end. I do agree that Coyle doesn't do a good job of using them to the best of their abilities. Though I do think Starks is good at slants, stunts and shooting gaps.
IMO C. Rodgers is our best position coach. He gets guys to play to their potential, DJ should develop under him and if he isn't playing it says more about DJ than Rodgers/Coyle. I'm giving DJ the benefit of the doubt with the shoulder and missing some camp. JT had like 5 sacks his rookie year so hopefully he takes off this year.
Johnson is 6'7" 270lbs...now. I think he came out of Ga. Tech around 255lbs, pretty close to what Dion played at this year. Dion has said he wants to get to 260 - 265lbs, and if he does, I think he's got the potential to play how Johnson does. The other thing to keep in mind is that in 2012, when OV was a rookie, Coyle had quite a few packages where they had OV standing up; so that's something they could incorporate with Dion as well. I just think you have to give him some time to make that adjustment period. Yeah, maybe he didn't develop as much or as quickly mentally as the coaching staff would have liked - they certainly did themselves no favors there as well - but when Dion played, he played well.
I think he could do it if pressed (he did it at the U), but I wouldn't want him there. My vision for him going into 2014 would be for him to be the starter in the base packages and when you go to sub packages keep him at end when Dion stands up at OLB (like last year), or even reduce him inside and have him rush over the guard (as they did last year from the Pittsburgh game on). There's definitely still a BIG role for him. But I think that Dion Jordan on the field more makes the entire defense better. So while, eventually, OV might not be out there with the base unit starting the game, he's still probably going to be playing more snaps in total than someone like a Paul Soliai or whoever they get to replace him at the 1-technique DT spot.
No, that is Babu Bhatt, an immigrant from Pakistan. He had a restaurant for a while but it didn't succeed. He was deported when Jerry accidentally got Babu's visa renewal forms mixed in with his mail. George's girlfriend was a lawyer and was going to help Babu, but then she and George broke up and she refused to help. Babu said Jerry is a very very bad man.
