I'll rephrase since I suppose one can assume it a shot at GIK and not what it was in a compliment to Paul. From the sounds of it he believed since he was sort of "original" that the rules should be bent to cater towards him, where I'm glad Paul stood his ground was that Greg attempted to bully Paul into getting what he wanted since it was his first year as a commish. In short I like the way that situation was handled.
You guys should just start free agency over. That'll make the draft come sooner. Jimmy Graham. Round Two! FIGHT!
I think we need to be in shutdown mode. It isn't fair atm because teams dont know who is available or when the bids expire, hell even what the high bid is.
Was thinking one bid for each position Thread, unless you restructured, then you lose the bid in the position you restructured in for the 24 hours or whatever it was
For me the issue isnt time, it is the fact that some teams got player under the radar, or traded players as a result of their signings
Why is under the radar a problem? You could see who people were bidding on, you could use your bids however you wanted?
everything has been such bs rookies getting burned by so called originals. hayden should still be mine because i cant be here 247 to see illegal bids being accepted and now this bs with some oldie being a cry baby deleting things.
I almost posted a few hours before the franchise tag deadline if we needed to be looking for a new Saints GM, too, with Greg being heavily inactive, not making trades, and not tagging Graham nor restructuring Brees despite ample time to do so. His bull in a china shop reaction seems like such an extreme response by someone who appeared disinterested in running his team. He was grossly irresponsible, and the fact he lashed out at the league for it is despicable. Loser to the 9th degree. What's funny is he took the time to fix his team page after he was done trashing the FA threads. That right there tells you it was him.
Under the radar isn't a problem. But when a player goes under the radar solely because there are too few bids or not enough teams bidding is a problem.
That's what happens when you limit bids. The overlap between everyone's list with a restriction of 4 or 5 players is going to be very low. So instead of bidding matches, you get stagnation.
I agree. Other moves were made already corresponding to moves made in FA. How is that fair? If a team made a move based on who they signed they signed why should they be punished?
There's no way we could redo free agency. As already noted, too many trades occurred that hinged on either FA moves or salary cap stuff related to FA.
yeah that's not happening. That'd be like spending a few weeks working on a giant puzzle and then right when you're close to finishing it, your cat peels out across the table sending the whole thing crashing to the floor in shambles. The enthusiasm level to get back on the horse and start all over from scratch would be close to nonexistent.
Um how are we are very anti rookie? What the heck are you talking about? You had ample time to re bid on hayden. You missed the boat. Greg's actions don't represent everyone here hence why he's been given time off.
Because, for example, I got Jacoby Jones for the league minimum and so many other wrs were being sought after that nobody else realized Jacoby was bid on. I bet you if we re-do FA I wont get Jacoby for such a cheap price, and this goes with a lot of teams who stole players in FA
For me, I saw Jacoby going for so low, and I wanted to bid, but i have so many receivers I didn't want to be ”stuck" with him. But I see your point.
You guys can look at this two ways. An exhausting amount of work for Paul OR an opportunity to try new ideas. I'd be curious how unlimited bids would work as Mach suggested.
wont happen. One trade might've been the result of 15 different variables lining up. We can't just recreate those trades in a vacuum b/c all it takes is an early FA signing that deviates from the prior one to create a trickle down affect that alters the entire league.
