RoboCop...they didn't really attempt the black humor of the first one (other than samuel L and he was great) I think that was smart...much darker version I liked it I found the Lead actor compelling and the supporting cast better than I expected would rate 8 1/2 out of ten..just don't go expecting more than a couple of laughs.

I saw the original in the theater when I was a teenager. Other than the special effects, I don't see how it could be improved. 8.5/10? Really that good? That's a borderline classic score in my rating system.

I enjoyed the Lego movie as well. My only complaint was the main song, which was annoying (on purpose). But the animation and humor were very good.

It was very good imo but I judged it on its own merit...comparing it to the first would be unfair imo.

Keys for me to enjoying those (robocop etc) type movies...

1 I have to WANT the hero to kick someone's ***.
2 they have to kick it WELL.

This movie does both very well.

for me the humor lightened the origional up...phenominal movie. This film didn't really do that so maybe not "much darker" but darker.

The humor in the original was very dark.

I haven't seen the new Robocop, however mostly I have heard it is a sanitized version Robocop.

Did the bad guys win in the new Robocop?

Absolutely right! My son kept signing the song every once in a while just to annoy me. My son is not the kind to sing. He just did it b/c I kept complaining that I couldn't get the song out of my head.

I saw Grown Ups 2 last night and thought it was really funny. The first one was average but the second one I found myself laughing quite a bit. It started slow and boring but really picked up. Loved all the random stars that made appearances. Shaq was great.

Drive was a really good movie.

They always have Gosling stay pretty quiet in movies where they want his character to stay mysterious.

    Why?

I hated Gangster Squad. Some of the worst writing and dialogue ever. Sean Penn wasted a good performance.

It was a minimalistic movie that focused more on music and cinematography.

Robisi is very underrated, imo. He's got some classic roles.

The Counselor. Terrible movie. Don't know if I've seen a script seem so forced before. That writer needs to have both of his hands amputated. Not even worth a Redbox rental.

Much of the dialogue was flat out unnatural. Seemed like a writer trying to get too cute with his words and it showed, hence seeming forced. The entire movie felt like I was just listening to a script being read aloud rather than being immersed into the movie's world. I didn't feel each character. I only felt the writing, and it came across like a singular style and voice spread across all the characters, which bored me to death.

Compared to something like Top of the Lake in the above regard, The Counselor looks like a pile of dog s***.

His first screenwriting "effort".... and hopefully his last. It was such a sh-tty supercilious script that not even its A-list actors could save it. He needs to stick to being a book author and let others translate it to film.

Idk how a script becomes supercilious. Again, the story itself is very minimal. He clearly wants to focus on all the crazy visuals and cinematography they throw at us.

I still thought it was a decent, "action" movie without all the cheese that usually comes with them.
