As discussed by Jason LaCanGlazer, known Dolphins hater and over-eating imbecile... and Mike Mycock, NFL Network's version of Mel Kiper... he really does like saying the word "burst."

    Jason LaCanGlazer:

Really think Cleveland got away with murder here. Sure, Josh Gordon is a stud… but Crabtree is no diced pickle (I don’t even know what that means) and the five draft picks, three of which are in the first three rounds, really give me cravings for a double double at In N Out.

    Mike Mycock:

I think here you have a team that is a player away from winning it all and you go and get that player that has tremendous upside. Josh has outrageous burst. His hands scream all the things that make wide receivers great. Did they give up a lot? Well perhaps. But again, Josh Gordon gives reason to say he could be the best receiver since Jerry Rice. Coming off the season he had, with all the numbers, well to me, that’s what the NFL is all about.

    Jason LaCanGlazer:

Sure Levitre is five years younger and takes up almost $7m less in cap space, but I still think Andre Johnson has a lot to offer, like a bucket of wings with a variety of sauces

    Mike Mycock:

Your taking one of the best wide receivers this game has every seen and trading away for a French Canadian offensive linemen. Does Levitre block better than most guards? Yes. He has tremendous hip explosion off the ball. His burst in tight spaces is wonderful. But he’s best in a phone booth.

    Jason LaCanGlazer:

Aldon Smith was a troubled player last year, pulling the Charlie Sheen act midseason. The 49ers decided enough was enough and will turn in their stud pass rusher for a quick footed spark plug in Tavon Austin and a mid third round pick. It makes me want to stand in line at McDonalds for a salad.

    Mike Mycock:

Two players with tremendous burst. To me, Tavon Austin has all the tools and the 49ers have added him to the mix next to Jerry Rice Jr. Aldon Smith is a freak. There’s no question about it. Freakish ability at an all pro level.

    Jason LaCanGlazer:

Now this is a blockbuster trade. Makes me want to go to Hometown Buffet and camp out for three weeks. It’s hard to say who got the best of this one. Well, not really. The Rams in my mind are getting four studs, while giving up one stud and two of the highest picks possible that could be used on studs.

    Mike Mycock:

I think this is known burst vs potential burst. You take the known burst quantity and gambling that you’re going to receive some burst later on. It’s a savings plan for burst. To me, that’s what it is.

    Jason LaCanGlazer:

There’s no question in my mind who got the better end of this deal. Three for one really. It’s like three meals in one. Three course meal for one low price. You’ve got appetizer, entrée and dessert all at one low low price.

    Mike Mycock:

I think Decastro never really lived up to his pre draft buzz. He got hurt. Then lost some burst off the ball. I just hope the fax works for Dumerville in this case because he’s headed to another new team and the fax technician better not screw it up. To me, there’s no burst when it comes to fax machines.

    Jason LaCanGlazer:

Really… talk about fair value. Jay and his diabetes for a 2nd round pick. It’s a good thing I’m not diabetic as I can eat what I want, when I want. Who’s down for a midnight run to the border… Taco Bell?

    Mike Mycock:

Jay’s arm has lost a little zip on it latterly. It just doesn’t have the same burst it used to have. To me, he needs to rededicate himself to getting into the locker room and stop complaining about the guys up front not blocking for him. In Houston, he’s in for a rude awakening when he finds out Andre Johnson has been traded elsewhere.

    Jason LaCanGlazer:

Get out of here… no really, get out of here and get me some donuts for crying out loud… I’m craving. This trade was silly and yet smart at the same time. Philly dumps salary and overrated players for youth and activity. Sounds like a win win if you’re in Philly land.

    Mike Mycock:

I’m all about Brandon Burst Boykin. He’s a great great nickel cover guy that most don’t know about. I thought Jimmy Smith was overrated when I had him predraft. He’s never really lived up to the hype that other guys put on him.

    Jason LaCanGlazer:

Now we are getting somewhere… wait, isn’t Sean Spence done for? Like an expired coupon at Sizzler? I really do think McCoy is one of the best interior linemen and the Steelers stole him away.

    Mike Mycock:

You don’t just get a player like Troy Polamalu. You get his burst towards the line of scrimmage. And that hair.. how do you not appreciate him. To me, the best safety to ever play football. Now you have Revis and Polamalu in the same secondary. Lou D Cross.

    Jason LaCanGlazer:

Well the Steelers go and mess up my chocolate shake by dumping McCoy for Roddy White and a 4th round pick.

    Mike Mycock:

Roddy White… lost that burst last year in Atlanta.

    Jason LaCanGlazer:

Watt happens. I think Houston could have done much better in this trade market instead they settle for two aging vets and a top 10 pick… plus a mid fourth round pick… JJ Watt is one of the best players on the defensive side of the ball currently playing in the NFL. Watt’s for dinner?

    Mike Mycock:

JJ Watt plays with such burst it’s incredible. His vertical burst matches his horizontal burst. It’s a plethora of velocity. To me, he’s the best player to come along since Charles Haley.

    Jason LaCanGlazer:

Oh the Dolphins lose out again. They trade up for a player with a lot of promise and then dump him for two overrated guys. The Dolphins really don’t know what they are doing, never have and never will. Stephen Ross should have sold the team long ago but instead the folks of South Florida are stuck with him. You lose Miami, you lose. Good thing I can’t go down there anymore. Was never fond of those Cuban Sandwiches.

    Mike Mycock:

Well Dion Jordan is reunited with his college professor in Chip Kelly. He gets the guy he wanted in last year’s draft all along. So he gives up Peters who is 68 years old. And Barwin who doesn’t look nearly the same player when JJ Watt isn’t standing next to him. The Eagles could draft a kicker with that third round pick and still come out ahead. Really… they go from drafting Lane Johnson last year with the fourth pick and end up with both him and the guy taken before him. Two top 5 picks for peanuts, to me.

    Jason LaCanGlazer:

If Sam Bradford had shoulders like me, he’d be an all pro. I don’t get these shoulders by not eating. You have to lift some heavy food to come out sculpted like me.

    Mike Mycock:

I really think Bradford never got a fair shot in St Louis. Now the Texans after acquiring him, give up on him before he even steps on the field. Sam could be a great player if he can just stay healthy. The Ravens could be a great fit for him.

    Jason LaCanGlazer:

This one screams blast from the past… sort of like crossing Sizzler and Red Lobster in the 80s on the same night. You go to Sizzler to get your hibachi chicken and all you can eat salad… then end up at Red Lobster for their shrimp three ways meal. You can’t go wrong with that.

Now, if your trade didn't get mentioned here... it's because it wasn't controversial enough. Some will call them one sided, I call them scandalous. Like the Dolphins.

    Mike Mycock:

I think Ngata and Suggs can still play at a high level. The Ravens are giving up two hall of famers and getting back much less than that.

I might have missed one, but I don't think any of the greatest college players ever were traded in this group of trades... Yes, no Notre Dame Fighting Irish were traded that I'm aware of. It just speaks to how good they are because teams that have them, don't want to give them up!!

LindaJohn BucciCohn: We now go live to Chris MortenClayton at Steelers camp...

MortenClayton: I don't really agree with the criticism of the Steelers for flipping McCoy. It was an ingenious move to get him in the deal and get Barron too and cut salary with each trade accumulating more flippable assets with each trade. Its a well known fact that the Steelers started this off-season with some heavy lifting to do cap wise. The Steelers have have had to clear out some long time clubhouse leaders like Lamar Woodley, Ike Taylor, Troy Polamalu, and Lawrence Timmons because they combined to make over 45 Million for this year and over 137 Million in cap commitments entering this off-season. If the Steelers had kept those players where would the team actually have money to spend to improve? They'd barely be able to sign their draft picks. The truth is that the Steelers simply could not afford McCoy at 15 million even though they really wanted to. That roster has a lot of work still to be done, with only roughly 25 players on the roster. While the Steelers liked McCoy a lot and didnt necessarily want to trade him the Steelers front office knew it would be easier to flip White in this league as part of a more beneficial trade that filled multiple needs and they accumulated another top 100 pick. As for the acquisition of Mark Barron as part of the deal that was the main reason for the deal as McCoy doesnt really fit a 3-4 anyway though Im sure if I forced it I could make it work. And hey, TB asked for Sean Spence so why the heck not?

Lastly two interesting tidbits about the Steelers I discovered today HeShe BucciCohn....One is that LeVeon Bell may be available after the acquisition of stud back Ryan Mathews.
Secondly, the Steelers now have one of the best salary cap situations in the league to as they prepare to enter free agency where GM Boik14 has lead multiple killer free agent classes on the Colts, Giants, Steelers and Seahawks. Who are we to doubt what that man has done in his previous stops?

Bears chuckle while looking at game sheets on their QB play from last years' games and celebrate the fact that they were able to unload the 22 million, 2nd best QB on their team

Andre Johnson was getting crap for offers. Lot of folk are really against age and high salary caps around here....who would have thunk it ;p Plus I envision my OL using Levitre like Buffalo did by utilizing some zone read and trap plays. My OL will not be a physical man blocking type like I was aiming for last year.

As for Sam Bradford. Once I got Jay for cheap (and it does say a lot when Trestman went right back to Cutler with no hesitation. He's the QB and offensive guy) I couldn't exactly hold out on my stance for the same value. So I discounted and got a happy future trade partner.

J.J. Watt I did get one better offer. Unfortunately, it came with a $20 million cap back end for players that don't fit my defense that I'm not sure I could re-trade for much cause of those hits. Also, again..future happy trade partner who knows I could have milked more from him and he was open to it.

Cutler is also only going to cost me $11.25 million after the restructure. McCown........you really think with his history he'll keep up anywhere near that pace? He's Flynn fools gold. He's in an offense that works for him...but he'll break down fast if he loses a couple parts to it. It's not like Cutler's throwing to chop liver either. I've got Nate Washington who I see easily back over 1000 yards with Cutler throwing the ball. Hopkins and Gibson working the slot. Plus I'm not done there by far.

The one I'm surprised you didn't go after was my trade with Fin-O. That was flat out a bad bad trade that if I had been more awake I wouldn't have done. Once I committed though I don't back out.

I'm now sitting with an expected $42 million for free agency and an expected 12 draft picks (5 in the first 42) and at least one trick still to come.

For the decastro trade, I upgrade G and fill in my opening at safety while giving away a few players I wasnt expecting to keep. It helped to solidify my defense.

For the trade with Philly I may have taken on 4M on cap but I upgrade both LB and CB while swapping players that would have not worked out well IMO.

The Bradford trade was a good value at QB for cheap

The one that looks really bad is the Suggs and Ngata trade, but combined they totaled almost 30M in cap and I would rather not deal with two players being so expensive. I wasnt getting much offers for Ngata and no offers for Suggs, I got something in return for getting rid of them and pick 1.2 will go a long way in this league

Yeah I don't think you got hosed at all. I was happy to grt Dumervil for Griffin though, because I needed to get rid of that cap. You still got a n even player back.

And let's not forget we got some inactives this year with a lot of marketable players. Hard to get better value when there is less competition for players.

I dont really think I got fisted. I dumped 9M in salary and a 4th + a flippable asset that helped bring me Fluker, Mathews, Ladarius Green, and Liuget with 2 draft picks. Without Roddy White that deal never comes close to happening.

Dont think for a minute Ive gotten soft....I knew exactly what I was doing

I knew I was going to have to sell the farm to get Josh Gordon and had no problem doing it. Agree with Mayock's thoughts 100%. Not knowing whether I was going to be around for the draft had something to do with paying almost an entire draft for him as well...
