I don't know why, but I like looking at the mock drafts, but some of the morons over at NFL.com still have mocks that don't take the combine into consideration. I'll be ready to see what they come up w/ after today. I have noticed that most of them show Cooks going late in the first; wonder if we trade back and try and get him? He is exciting.

Looks like they've added a new feature which lets you choose whether to use the Fanspeak, Walter Football or Optimum Scouting "Big Board".

    I choose Optimum Scouting.

It's funny but to me that really is like setting a video game on "Easy", "Medium" or "Hard" mode. LOL.

The idea I would like to pursue is one where the drafters themselves provide through their choices the data that is incorporated into the system and used to update the mock draft tendencies.

The one I did pretty recently using the OS database involved picking up

    OT Taylor Lewan, Michigan
    TE Troy Niklas, Notre Dame
    RB Lache Seastrunk, Baylor
    WR Donte Moncrief, Ole Miss
    CB Ross Cockrell, Duke
    OG/OC Marcus Martin, USC
    CB/KR/PR Chris Davis, Auburn

Two corners may seem like too much but frankly there was nobody that could rate higher than Chris Davis available at that 7th round pick. I'm not terribly confident in guys like Jamar Taylor and Will Davis anyway...though still a little intrigued with Davis. I took Ross Cockrell because I believe his brains and skill set are good for Miami's style of coverage.

You could plug Taylor Lewan in at right tackle immediately and feel good about that spot. The only guy left on the free agent market I could say the same about is probably Strief who will be expensive. Marcus Martin can play any of the three interior positions.

Lache Seastrunk is an easy choice. As is Troy Niklas. I believe as I said before that Donte Moncrief would be an interesting Marques Colston type of slot player for the Dolphins, who prefer big players in the slot.

Probably because he's not viewed as an every down back and because there might exist concerns about durability b/c of his body structure.

Dolphins would do very well to grab Seastrunk. That would be a homerun pick.

Aren't you concerned about his pass catching or blitz pickup abilities? Granted he is a dynamic runner, but it seems in the NFL that backs need to be more than just a runner.

I'm not sure I buy the criticism about Lache Seastrunk's pass catching. The Baylor offense has NEVER gotten the ball to their backs out of the backfield. It's not the way they're constructed.

He did actually catch 9 balls for like 109 yards and a TD in 2013.

To me about 75% of a back's viability as a receiver out of the backfield is about what they can do with the football in their hands in space. And Lache Seastrunk is a HOMERUN hitter with the football in his hands in space. Just because the Baylor offense is constructed to where they don't hold the football long enough to get it to their backs on checkdowns and the like doesn't mean he's not good at it.

In reality when you throw him the football out of the backfield, you get good plays just as you would expect to get out of as dynamic a ball carrier as him:

    Hence this:

    And especially this:

My favorite would easily be the one I did using WalterFootball's big board. Right side would be set with Turner and Lewan. West-coast TE of the future Amaro, a Kacy Rodgers-coached Will Sutton, a fast bruiser in Jeremy Hill, a thumper and leader in Andrew Jackson, and just a flyer on Snead. I like Snead's size.

Man, looking at various mocks they are all over the place. It could get pretty interesting on draft day. I hope that these QB's look really good to teams so that they take them and not other players I would like.

A few like Ebron, Lewan, Donald probably will not be there at 19 but I think guys like Amaro, Cooks, Martin, Mosley, Jernigan, Hageman are likely to be there, and that is a pretty good crop of players.

This would be a great draft.

    * Immediate help on both sides of the line in rounds 1-2
    * Playmakers with starting potential in the mid rounds
    * QB insurance policy in the fifth with big upside (IMO anyway)
    * DB depth in the sixth
    * Low-risk, high reward TE in the seventh

I hate Antonio Richardson as a prospect, unfortunately.

This one's the toughest one I did so far, set to the Walter Football rankings which I find very poor in some ways. There are players on there that aren't even in the draft, and other players that should be available just aren't.

    DT Aaron Donald, Pitt
    WR Allen Robinson, Penn State
    RB Lache Seastrunk, Baylor
    OG Trai Turner, LSU
    DE Ben Gardner, Stanford
    TE Crockett Gilmore, Colorado State
    QB Connor Shaw, South Carolina

If that's who we came out with I'd still be quite happy...but I'd have appreciated the opportunity to take guys like A.C. Leonard, Jonathan Newsome and Jack Tyler.

add me to that hate train as well.
I can't stand Connor Shaw either, but that's more of a testament to how sneaky good and often times clutch he is. If Tannehill has to sit out a few quarters of a game, then what better a backup to come in than a poor man's Russell Wilson who's a real pain in the *** prevent from eatin' your lunch all day long with his feet. Arm is a little underrated in my book.
