it's all about Dion Jordon: http://www.thephinsider.com/2014/2/...e-dion-jordan-a-defensive-end-or-a-linebacker mix & match: WLB 52 Phillip Wheeler 59 Jonathan Freeny 53 Jelani Jenkins MLB 59 Dannell Ellerbe 93 Jason Trusnik SLB 55 Koa Misi 57 Josh Kaddu 95 Dion Jordan build your defense around what we have waiting & capable looking for an opportunity. I would start Dion Jordan with Ellerbe & Koa Misi in the 4-3. we have talent that has been misused, time to correct it.
It's as simple as this..put his *** out there and let him play, or as the cool kids would say, ride or die.
Jenkins. I guess a lot of you Florida boys have seen a lot more of jelani than me. Some youtube highlight vids. He looks talented in those but I guess that's the point of a highlight vid. How does anyone think he's gonna develop?
We need a Mother****er like Bryan Cox or Zach Thomas take a look at the hit from Thomas his first game..He came into the nfl with a bang.. http://m.youtube.com/index?gl=DE&hl=de&desktop_uri=%2F%3Fhl%3Dde%26gl%3DDE#/watch?v=i_BiIVvt_DM
Re: there is no line backer problem, only indecision & incompetantcy Agreed, but I'm pretty sure his name is Deon. Deon Jordon, Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 4
Misi, Ellerbe and Misi would be a good group IMO so be prepared for Coyle to start Wheeler, Trusnik and Spitler.
Re: there is no line backer problem, only indecision & incompetantcy I like it. 4-3 with 5 DB's. That's the sort of innovation that could bring a championship. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I'm sooooooooooooo out of touch with what the cool kids say anymore. Back when I was a kid, we would say things like: Baaaaaaad! (meaning Gooooooood!) She's a fox! (meaning she's good looking) I'm going with Diane. (meaning I'm dating Diane) We were cool. Believe me. Then, I grew up and had kids, and the cool thing to say was: Talk to the hand because the ear ain't listening. Or so I was told. So, now, the cool thing to say is "ride or die"? Huh. I'll need to drop that line on my teenagers (probably totally out of context). They'll love it. Suppose for me, it's the same as it ever was, and it's just hip to be square.
what we have (Dion Jordan) is the #3 first round pick that is a linebacker & pass-rushing delight. the guy is a beast & can stuff the run as well as pass defend & get after the QB. you build your defense around that kind of player, you don't hide him or use him on special teams. I like the idea of Zach Thomas as LB coach, would be a nice touch.
I think Jenkins has a very good season ahead, probably as a passing downs guy. But that doesn't solve the run stopping issue, which is a big one at this unit. Would love a 2-down plugger at MLB, but it's probably not gonna happen. Hopefully Dion playing more will have some ripple effects. We need guys who take good angles to the ball, and we need a LB with some quick-read instincts.
I like the positivity and agree there is great talent there. But does Ellerbe have the skillset to play the middle? He struggled last year, does anybody above have the skillset to play the middle? That's the concern, Ellerbe needs to step it up for this linebacker core to thrive and Wheeler needs to see less reps.
Misi has the skillset, but we don't know about the instincts..I'm willing to give him a shot in camp preseason game to find out.
There is a linebacker problem but I believe it's just that, a linebacker problem, not a linebackerS problem. Wheeler is fine, he had a rough year but I think he is salvageable. Dion Jordan needs snaps and a chance to play. You know what? I don't care if he has lazy practice habits, don't give a ****. The kid made an impact everytime he saw the field. Koa Misi is fine when used in a proper role. Set the edge, play the run, occasional pass rush. Jenkins has potential but for now he is just a coverage player. The problem, and it's a glaring problem and his name is Danell Ellerbe. He is total horse ****. He can't diagnose and attack because he is too slow mentally to see the play and get to where he needs to be. When he does attack, it's usually the wrong angle or the wrong gap. He is the worst middle linebacker I've seen in Miami in a long long time. I would dearly love to spend a 1st rounder on a plug and play MLB but when you currently have AIR as your starting right side on the offensive line? It's not a luxury we can afford.
Not sure how I feel about a LB in the 1st. Actually, since I cringed when I read that I guess I would rather go some other directions. A playmaker would be cool; Ebron, Evans, Cooks.
