I just got back from seeing it, laughed my *** off. Had a good plot and it all worked very well. Defiently another great Will Smith movie. Was kinda of a short movie, but didn't have the feel like it was rushed with the plots.

Just saw it earlier, it's good, probably not the best this year but still worth the $9. Kinda used the camera swivel one too many times for non-action scenes and sort of bogged down in places.

And does the fiancee know about this personal hobby?

I saw it last night with my wife. We enjoyed it, although not to the level of say, Iron Man. Still, it's worth seeing.

I agree with most that the first half was great, but they dropped alot of the film's premises by the second half by taking it in a different direction, which I didnt think was necessary. Its like they had two scripts and used one they thought they could surprise us with. I also couldve done without the motion sickness afterward.

I saw it via a share group I belong too. I'm glad I didn't waste the $ 10 bucks to go see it. It started off good enough but the 2nd half of the movie was bogged down. And the whole angel subplot at the end was just very poor storytelling.

[post edited by me because I had spoilers I am removing]

Its not the way I would have done it, lets just leave it at that.

Saw Hancock yesterday and I think this post sums it up.

The first half of the flick they had a good entertaining movie going.
Action, comedy and a really good premise.

Then as mentioned they veered off into an entire different direction.

They would have been much better just focusing on the original premise of a down and out "super hero" being helped to appreciate his powers and to win public acceptance.

Despite that, overall it was entertaining and worth seeing. Certainly not deserving of some of the awful reviews I've seen.

Nope. It was written for the screen about 10 years ago languished in development hell for many years thereafter.

Not directly, but probably influence by superhero anti-heros like Iron Man.

I saw this on Saturday. The first half of the movie was solid and entertaining. I liked the direction of the film, and could have used more of it, actually. Then they took the story into bizarro world with a stupid second half twist. The latter part of the film should serve as a warning for when studios don't know how to properly finish a movie.

My wife said that the whole "two immortals protecting the world" was actually a Scientology thing. I had also heard that Will Smith had converted to Scientology, so this may explain why the film went in such a strange direction. They would have been much better served with Theron serving as a foil for Smith - his true polar opposite, if you will - instead of what they went with. On the record, I absolutely hated the "immortal" thing. I thought it was stupid and made no sense at all, based on what I had been told through the movie.

The film couldn't decide who it was aiming for either. It was too kiddie for me, but probably too adult for kids, and there were just one too many jokes about butts - things going in them, kicking them, etc. They should have just aimed for a hard R or went for an all out Superhero movie - the gray area really hurt the film, as it seemed to lose it's identity.

The ending of the film (I can't really call it a climax) was also completely over the top and really pointless. I found it difficult for me to believe that our hero was in any real danger, despite what I was seeing. I was completely unimpressed with it, particularly given the action pieces presented in the first and second acts.

Emotionally, I actually found the scene with the dinosaurs, while Hancock was behind bars, to be the most touching part of the entire film. Again, I believe they would have been better served with that serving as the lynchpin for his turnaround and end of the film - rather than a catalyst for the second act.

I still love the concept and liked the movie, but I came away deflated and a little disappointed. Maybe they can fix the formula for the inevitable Hancock 2. 3 out of 5 stars, and that's being generous.

i was really disappointed. I have liked every will smith movie i have seen until this one. The beginning was funny and then the movie got dull and dragged on. There was way to much crazy stuff going on and the twist was stupid. I wouldnt recommend seeing it, unless your gonna rent it

Oh, you should rent it...good story, Will Smith plays a highly educated man, teaching underprivildged youth in south central LA how ebonics work. Great tear jerker...

at the end when his class finishes winning the spelling bee championship, and the Reporter asks the kids of Smith's class "did you have fun", and the fat little boy who hadnt said anything all movie reponds, "yes, it was a Blasphemy and all my team mates"...it brough tears to your eyes.

7 stars and 3 thumbs up!
