My apologizes then to the first paragraph in your post. I got your posts mixed up with JT's.

I wouldn't want you to go through the whole shows history, however I don't see an issue with any of that stuff as it's used for comedy and none of it is malicious. I'm sure there are similar examples in HIMYM of that stuff too (I just honestly can't think of specific examples because I don't remember the show all that well). Ted, Barney and/or Marshall never got into a physical fight? Barney never lied to another character to get them to do something for him? All of that stuff you listed in regards to Friends I'm sure if you look at any comedy has happened before. Every person in an TV show/movie/real life has done something for their own gain. I don't see how Friends is any different.

You're really not understanding my point, so I'll try to explain it again.

Every character on Friends screwed the others over and/or lied to them repeatedly over a majority of the show's life. That's not to say HIMYM doesn't have moments of friends being douchey to each other, but that comprised the majority of the show Friends and it wasn't just part of most episodes, its that they were all guilty of it. They were horrible friends on Friends and they are not on HIMYM.

Also ftr again, I started this all off by saying this was MY problem with these shows and ONE of the reasons i love HIMYM.

IDK I still think the people of Friends were as good as friends as HIMYM if not better. they were also there for each other when they needed it.

Except a lot of times when they needed a friend its because on of their friends did something to screw them over.

Same could be said about Robin when Barney used her to get other girls in the playbook just after they broke up. Barney is a worse friend then anyone in the show friends.

I don't know why i have to keep explaining this.

The show Friends is mostly about friends who all screw each other over and lie. HIMYM has that rarely. And Barney has done waaaaaay more for the other people on that show, than Friends member has done for any other.

That's fair and perfectly fine and normal.

Its just that you weren't really countering my argument by pointing out once and awhile things that one character did, when I'm talking about the all the characters and bulk of the episodes of the other show.

Every episode I watch on HIMYM I see Barney thinking of himself first. Two episodes I just watched, Barney was trying to get Ted to leave his party. Ted wanted to stay to meet the slutty pumpkin. Barney wanted to leave and go in a party with the Victoria secret models. He did not care that ted wanted to meet him potential future wife. He wanted to get laid and cared less about Ted feelings. Even fooled him as the Penguin. This episode he got ted and him to join online dating just so he can get laid, could care less about ted. Also everything he says negative about canada to robin, trying to poke fun at her with Robin Sparkles, the slap bet him and Marshall have, they psychically harm each other. Also lilly breaking up Ted and Robin, and Teds other relationship he had, for her selfish purpose is worse then anything they did on friends.

At least Ross told joey how he felt about Rachel to ross before anything happened with them, Barney just did it

When Marshall quit his job, Barney held a grudge on marshall and did things to his coffee mug and other things. Also the meatball grudge. I mean there is so much more barney did thats worse then anyone on friends. Hell right now it looks like Ted is going to ruin Barney and Robins wedding

No nerve touched, just showing how HIMYM friendship is not as pure as it seems

Again, you're not really though. You're trying to show one character is usually bad and how other characters are occasionally bad, when I'm saying every character on Friends is almost always bad and screwing over or lying to another. I'm not saying nothing ever bad happens between friends in HIMYM, just that happens with significant less frequency than in Friends.

You know what, let's just move on haha. I still disagree about them being horrible friends on Friends though but I think we'd both agree it's probably not worth going back and forth over and over again.

I did however enjoy the debate, you're a good guy Fin.

I think Scrubs and Everybody Loves Raymond are the two top sitcoms of the 2000s.

Seinfeld and Curb are tops IMO. A lot of those characters, especially Larry David, have redeeming qualities.

And if anyone hasn't seen Veep yet, it's right up there.

HIMYM fans, what did you think of the final episode? I personally didn't watch it myself but read the recap and the outrage online. Just curious because I know we have a few hardcore HIMYM fans on this board.

I do find it interesting that the writers always had this ending planned from Day 1 and stuck with it, yet people were still pissed. Just funny because most TV shows get blasted for not having any future plans (ala Lost) but this one did and still gets blasted for it, although I kind of get the backlash here too.

i hated it...especially the last 5 minutes when those 2 hooked up in their 50s. it was just dumb. plus, the show skipped so much stuff. i wasnt a regular follower of the show, but i watched it every now and then. i totally understand if the hardcore watchers are pissed off.

I liked the finale. I thought the finale was funny and also hit the appropriate emotional notes. It tied up the big plot lines and showed how each of the main character's lives turned out.

The main plot line was obviously about "the mother" and why he's telling the story. Most people who were paying attention figured out or at least suspected that she had probably died so that shouldn't have been a surprise. I haven't read about the "outrage online" but I assume that's where it's centered. I thought that was fairly obvious though so I kind of see any outrage in that regards as people just being oblivious.

It was also obvious that Ted and Robin belonged together. The one part that cast that into doubt was when they admitted early on that she wasn't the mother. The majority of the shows have been about Ted looking for love and most of those have been about his never ending love for Robin. You even had episodes where Robin wondered if Ted was the one she should be with so it was something that went both ways. As much as I loved the mother character they chose there was always the feeling that Ted and Robin belonged together. The ending allowed Ted to have a great life with the mother and still end up with Robin.

I liked Barney finally finding out that his daughter would be the woman he would always love. It showed that even Barney progressed and changed as everybody does.

And Marshall and Lily were always the constants on the show. They remained that constant and Marshall got his dream of being a judge after giving it up earlier to fulfill Lily's dream of living in Rome.
