The TV version is basically the Cliff's Notes written by a guy distracted by a bad headache.

Well there's a difference between HBO and AMC. Game of Thrones' budget is twice as much per episode as TWD.

Budget has precious little to do with the character development.

The main difference, is that the source material for GoT is encyclopedia like, and TWD is moderately long comic books.

It does seem low. But the numbers for the big Blackwater battle are just an estimate, and that could have been estimated low. However, there could have been only so many ships affected by the wildfire, and only so many troops on board each. After all, they were just wooden tall ships.

That or the TV series isn't nearly as bloody as the books.

    5 ½ hours until season 4.

I'm of two minds on the subject. Clearly, A song of ice and fire > TWD comic book. It's not even debatable. One is written by a terrific writer and the other is written by a Zach Galifianakis lookalike.

Budget has a lot to do with the Walking Dead's craptasticness. Take season 2 for example. It wasn't suppose to be 10+ episodes at Hershel's farm. But AMC refused to give Frank Darabont a legitimate budget, so most of his ideas were scrapped. Like the cool episode featuring the soldier (POV) from the tank that Rick got the grenade from, which was going to be a World War Z "Battle of Yonkers" type battle. The idea would of been incredible, but I digress... Frank Darabont was fired for not wanting to make the show suck. And season 2 suffered tremendously. The group was forced to hang around Hershel's farm wayyy to long and the show had to write in Grey's anatomy type BS drama to fill the hours. If you condensed season 2 into 6 episodes and cut out the filler, it would of been incredible. The 2nd half of season 2 would of been the first half of season 3.

The first half of season 3 was terrific. The best string of episodes the show ever produced. Everything about the first half was interesting. But once again, AMC didn't get them a real budget and the show had to hang around in the prison longer than it should have, delayed the Governor's war, and subsequently dragging out boring *** storyline's and adding in a dash of grey's anatomy type drama once again. There were only two good episodes in the back half of season 3 (This Sorrowful Life and Clear), which featured characters outside the prison, where the boring took place.

Would the show still be on GoT level? No... Again, the source material for GoT is too rich. But TWD would be ****ing awesome with the right budget.

GoT... 1 hour and 19 min.

This must be what it must feel like for a drug addict to relapse.... so good.

    - In fact, the only thing about this episode that sucked was the new casting for Daario. Daario went from being a charming, charismatic, cocky and dangerous badass, to an underwear model trying to get in the sugar walls of my Khalesi. **** that guy. Not a fan. Maybe he gets better, but so far, I'd say it was a major downgrade.

    - TPTB scored big with casting Oberyn Martell... One of the sickest/coolest characters looks to be in good hands. I really was hoping we would get back to Kings landing for more of him, but I suppose that'll have to wait... Can't wait for more of his story to unfold. Also, Niobe from Rome! Sweet... Now all we need is Ray Stevenson, Kevin McKidd, and James Purefoy back and this show will officially be godlike. They would all make great various Greyjoys... hint hint.

    - The opening scene with Ice being melted in two... I was surprised they opened there. And I'm a little more surprised that Tywin didn't get more upset with Jaime. I figured they would go for more thunder in that "argument" rather than passive aggressive. Obviously a little bit has changed from the book in terms of Jaime being in Kings landing at this point rather than later. Curious to see how that plays out. Oh and Jaime is money. Always. More Jaime, more better. Really, the Lannisters are great in one form or another.

    - I hate Shae. You're no longer being ****ed by strange men, have a good life, and a devoted man. Given her background, you would think she would be grateful rather than an entitled *****.

    - Joffrey is an *******... Such a great villain. Honestly, he's got to be top 3 all-time on TV. Even with only a sparse amount of screentime, I ****ing hate his guts. Wanted Jaime to backhand him with his new gold hand.

    - Arya and the Hound scenes were great... Really, the Arya part of the equation makes any duo she's involved with pretty awesome anyway. The hound definitely brings the lulz too. Tag team champs of Westeros.

"The Wolf & The Hound", Westeros' greatest comedy tour.

All Joffrey fans/haters should pay close attention to this season. If this season follows the book chronology decently well, then Joff will have a shining moment of Twitter glory.

I am happy I am not the only one who hates the TV Show version of Shae. Yes, she has more "depth" than in the book, however the character in the book made so much more sense.

    So, so correct.

I don't like this guy, but I really didn't like the last guy. He looked like Fabio.

Sorry, after "The Following", Purefoy should suffer a little of Theon's punishment.

Watching his sword get melted down and knowing what happened to his family, was a gut punch. Just brutal.

    Agreed on Jamie.

Its not that good of a life. She's basically a slave and a slave to the girl that married her love whom she can't have. That's a pretty significant amount of torture actually.

I read that he won the job by portraying Joffery as a spoiled child while other actors had tried to make him more brooding evil. Jack Gleeson does not get enough credit for his acting on this show. Its a shame, talent-wise, he'll be giving up acting after his run.

I could watch a 8 season run (22 episodes each) of Arya and The Hound traveling Westeros and getting into hijinks and adventures.

The Hound's reaction to Arya approaching the pub was priceless. Also any dialogue between the two of them.

It is good in comparison. She was a slave to random people every night, now she is a slave in the castle. A love she can have if she isn't a moron about it and is willing to be patient and understand her situation. Just like she did in the books.

In the show, she was a free woman when we first meet her, but a prostitute. Now she has to be the hand maiden to her love's wife and her life is constantly in danger and her love is pushing her away. She didn't seem to struggle with being a prostitute, she is struggling with this.....soooooooo.......

Her struggle with this make no sense. Her character makes zero sense to me.

Her love is pushing her away because he doesn't want her to die and there has been plenty of proof that her death could easily happen. Now she lives in a castle, gets to eat good food, and have a pretty good prostitution life.

All she does now is complain, complain, complain. It is almost like she doesn't even understand the situation she is in.

What I realized watching that S04 premiere is: I don't give a **** about almost any of these people anymore.

Arya is the best character on the show...which means she'll be killed soon or die of dysentery in a pool of her own ****, or something like that.

I love to hate Joffrey, but that's a given. That has to be one of the most hated characters in TV history, and when all this is said and done, might be #1.

I've figured out that the good guys, the ones you are fooled into rooting for, DIE. ALL of them. The bad guys? ****ing indestructible. Except for Danaerys' brother, Goldfinger. That was fun. So? Root for the bad guys.

Honestly, by the Red Wedding I was all "**** YEAH, more blood!" I didn't really care. What did upset me was that they killed the direwolves like they did; those are the only truly noble creatures in that universe—they deserved better.

What made you care previously? Just curious, because there's still major players left in the game. Even the smaller characters are awesome. Vary's, Littlefinger, etc... There's not a single storyline I don't care about. Maybe Theon... Just never really got into his character. Although, his capture, Ramsey Bolton is rather an awesome villain, so even then, I'm still invested.
