right after Scott McLoughan resigned....well they had a good run http://www.kffl.com/gnews.php?id=902315-seahawks-jeff-ireland-hired
Seahawks hire Jeff Ireland as a draft consultant Wouldn't have predicted that in a million years... lol http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/26/seahawks-hire-jeff-ireland-as-draft-consultant/
Ireland was successful at one thing.Convincing owners and higher ups that he is competent and that all of the mistakes that occured under his watch was someone elses fault .
go figure. pre draft consultant? while that doesn't exactly sound like a full time gig, at least it's a job in the NFL which some said he wouldn't receive again.
Ild love to see hid draft board seems like he got hung on physical stats too much. His picks were very average
Be sure to remember how bad Ireland supposedly was when you're screaming for Philbin and Hickey to be fired for not cleaning up the mess in one season.
Maybe he will piss off some of the good players over there by asking if their Mom's were prostitutes and out of spite for him they will come to Miami
Not quite getting what you are saying. How could Philbin and Hickey clean up after Jeffy in just one season anyway?
Wow. This statement is true though. "Ireland didn’t exactly cover himself in glory during the six drafts for which he was G.M. of the Dolphins"
I don't see the big deal. He will be no more than a glorified scout. He won't have even close to final say on anything. When Jeff was in Dallas as just director of college scouting and not in charge of the entire show, he did ok.
Nothing more than a 'get your foot in the door' or at least a 'well, he did a good job as a consultant for us' type of thing...doesn't sound permanent at all...
Your P.O.V. doesn't give us a chance to feel better about ourselves, unfortunately. I like how Seattle suddenly became a bad organization with this move. I'm thinking the Dolphins will shoot above the 'hawks in the preseason power rankings.
People have really dumb opinions about Jeff Ireland. He's not unqualified to be in the NFL, he's legitimately quite good at some aspects of the job. He'd certainly need to demonstrate he's learned lessons in areas before he becomes a GM again, but it's certainly not something that is such a bizarre thing either.
Finally Jeff gets to shine the Sea hawks are now primed to win at least 2 or 3 more. Heck they may even set a super bowl record for consecutive wins
Some of you people are major knuckleheads to think you have a better grasp on what Ireland can or can't do than the best organization in football who also happens to be the best scouting and drafting organization in football. Since I wrote this in the wrong thread, I might as well put it here too:
Sorry Seahawks fans, but prepare your boards to be inundated with lol... positive Jeffy posts by his cult followers.
Don't forget Brian Hartline. Rishard Matthews was a nice pick. Davone Bess was a fine UDFA signing. Even though they're out of Miami, Vontae Davis and Sean Smith have both proven worthy of their draft status. Reshad Jones too. Chris Clemons... If or when Jordan, Taylor, Thomas and Jenkins are solid starters in a year or two, we may be looking back philosophically on his fine 2013 draft.
Good question! My girlfriend saw it and was all, "what are you reading?" and I was like "Dolphins stuff..." That sig pic that isn't even mildly pornographic, but it draws everyone's eyes to it... P.S. Reverse image search didn't work.
Well, Im sure im in the minority here... and I'll preface this by saying I am drunk, andhome now from a good friend of mine's bachelor party... but as bad as Ireland was here as GM for us.... in a role with much less authority, with more knowledgeable people before him in the chain of command, I think he has quite a bit of value. Lets be hoenst here... not all of his picks were horrendous... many were, especialy free agent signings... but he does possess some skills in talent evaluation as evidenced by some of the bright spots on our current roster... Im sure the Hawks will consider him for nothing more than his opinion on scouting and personelle. Not as a decision maker, but more so as an evaluator with an opinion.
Well put. Especially well put for a drunk guy! It was definitely time for Ireland to go. That said, I still expect something from last year's draft picks.
Well that's fabulous news. I was running out of reasons to hate the shehackss. Got a fresh one now. Thanks
