Looks like we don't want anything resembling a nose tackle, Mitchell, Starks, and Odrick, hmmm, time to split the gaps I guess..

I think Randy Starks and Earl Mitchell split some time at the 1-technique.

I might be wrong, but maybe Misi as MLB is part of this strategy. More athletic/rushing DTs and a physical and big MLB to help cover the run.

I don't like him much, but Timmy Jernigan seems to have fallen down the boards. Could possibly be had in the second round if we're so inclined. I wouldn't mind Hageman much though.

Hell, he might be the same weight. I think Tony Sparano referred to him as being "one big muscle" when they drafted him a couple years ago.

You're just trying to get Lmeister3 to pass out with words like "one big muscle".

Nah he's trimmed up big time.

I just wanna know how it's gonna make his game better, quicker is good, he's got great hands, to me so far I haven't seen the impact I'd like to see, he gets washed out and doesn't change direction or track very well, so this extra quickness may help in that regard.

I just don't want him to be content with his level of play, cause personally I don't think it's up to par with a first round talent, I just hope he's just not going all GQ on us..

He looks more like a LB now than a DT. Hopefully we'll get more pressure from the position now if nothing else.

Nothing resembling a classical 2-gap nose tackle, but you can get the job done just as well with a 300lb guy who is more of an upfield, stunting player than a take-on guy. I'd take Brandon Mebane at the position over most all the 330 pound guys in the league any day.

I got him in the GML League on this forum at 26. Managed to snag 3 firsts (23 Lewan, 26 Hageman and 32 Tuitt). Damn straight I am happy in the league this year ;p

Sure, I'm willing to committ to this true 43, I like the way Odrick, Starks, and Mitchell play that way, I never wanted Odrick to be a def end, or a nose, I always wanted him light and quick because that's what he does best, uses his hands and slips gaps.

Probably not if he's dropped more weight, but if I recall correctly Odrick was primarily a 1-technique in college and I think it's pretty plausible he could have done it as a professional.

He's really trimmed up. He lost a lot of bulk. Hopefully his tackling technique has not suffered any.

Timmy will be long gone by pick 50 unless he does something to get thrown in jail before the draft. I've not noticed him falling anyway. NFL Draft Scout and Draftinsiders.com both have him 24th. National Football Post has him 22nd. Ourlads has him 27th. The Huddle Report has him 28th.

I like Jernigan personally, but I'm not sure there is a premium on what he does. He's pretty well an obligate 1-gap/1-technique type guy. He might be the next Brandon Mebane, but it's a bit specific and undervalued a position.

  38. MrClean

There are 4 DTs at the top and then a pretty good drop off IMO. I guess it depends on how many teams need one. I just don't expect him to get within sniffing distance of 50 though. With Starks, Odrick and Mitchell it's far from a major need for us in the short run and if we did draft him, I think people would be complaining about how we used a high pick on a guy that's getting so few snaps. Not that obtuse fan rants should matter to the front office for that matter...BTW, Timmy can play 3 tech just fine too. He is not limited to 1 tech. His main drawback is not being the quickest off the snap. He's young though and may be able to improve that. Perhaps overly concerned about not having any NZI called on him.
