I was very excited to bring him in with his versatility to help continue to build our line to improve our passing and running game but now it seems very very unlikely. Now I am almost thinking of getting the linebacker from Alabama, C.J Mosley if zack is gone and he is there. Also I wonder though because Nick Saben does such a good job it seems of setting up his players for success (even though that whole thing of him being our head coach messed us up) so I wonder if he will continue to grow and improve alot or if Nick just got the best out of him. People say he has great instincts and I have and I have not watched alot of film on him but i feel like if our gm sees something in him and zack is gone I would like to take him. Also on a side note did hickey have much success in drafting for the bucs? Because the other day I was watching espn or nfl network and they where kinda putting the bucs down for their drafts for the last few years and i was like o that sucks for the bucs fans then i was like o ya thats our gm now lol. But hey im happy to see the outcome of our new gm and hope philbin has great influence in his picks, Ireland found some gems in late rounds but I feel like he just threw away some high picks smh. Hope you all have a fun draft im going to make my gf watch it so hopefully she doesn't fall alseep, GO PHINS!!!!
I'm actually fine with it because I'm not sold on him. I'm really hoping that either a big name skill player slips due to a run on OTs and QBs early, or that we can trade back and pick up a RT like Juwan.
We won't know until we know. The Draft is always highly unpredictable. Someone always drops....someone always skyrockets. It's why its an exciting day.
Or a guard if that's what we want. 100% correct. Of all the OL available to us in the draft, Martin would be one of the last ones that I want. And I don't want him for all the reasons that the drafniks keep saying he is so great. "Versatile" He's played LT his entire career but there's no chance of that in the NFL. But he can possibly play RT in the NFL and if not, he'll make a helluva guard! Uhhhh... What? If we're drafting a RT, there are better prospects available. Although those guys probably won't be as successful if they fail at RT and need to move inside to OG. If we're drafting a OG, there are better prospects available. Although, again, those guys probably won't be as successful if we tried to kick them outside to play RT. I'd much rather take the best RT on the board than trying to "hedge our bets" by getting a player that maybe can play RT and if not can play OG. And as Mexiphin said, there will be quality players at RT and OG available at either 50 or at whatever spot before then if we traded down. We need a playmaker in the first. Not some player of equal talent that we could have gotten later, and certainly not some OL tweener who has never played either position that he's being projected for because despite that he's still thought of as a "Safe pick"???
Go back to all the drafts you've watched and count how many players you fell in love with and were taken before us. How many panned out? No go back to those same drafts, and count how many players you didn't even pay attention to. Nobody hits 100%. Some hit more than others (and those are the guys who stay in business).
It's all luck and no skill don't ya know, just take the consensus of what everyone thinks and you'll build and sustain yourself a roster full of championship talent and chemistry.
If I was the girlfriend of me, and I watched me watch the draft, I'd be so turned off..lol. Some things are better done apart.
That might get people upset, but that's a sure fire stud you can plug and forget at RT, and then move to LT when Albert starts to fail. I wouldn't say I'd like that option because you would be giving up a 2nd in a deep draft with a team that has multiple needs, however Matthews is as ready an NFL player as you're going to get, and he plays a positions of need. The O-line would instantly become a strength with bookend tackles and pro-bowl center.
My girlfriend can barely make it through Heat playoff games. I probably couldn't get her through the first three picks, let alone the whole round.
