Probably could have gotten James at 27.

i don't hate the pick, he is a good player, who was projected in the first round to early second. reach maybe, but if he comes in and protects tannehill and plays like a good RT who cares if the dolphins reached for him?

Exactly my point having watched some of his games..
We got him for RUN blocking or at least thats why we got Marino right?? To run the ball?? So we draft a reach at 19 player whose weakness is run blocking and pad level... Thats what I said earlier on... HEs going to get beat on rush moves, and avergae run blocker! Great pick.... Sigh...

Then they'd probably risk losing him to KC, SD, Arizona (had they stayed), or Green Bay

No, last time I checked, we got him for PASS, blocking. Since, you know, our last RT couldn't block for our QB for anything.

Our WR's also couldn't separate. You grab a WR like Cooks here and then go RT in round 2 and you solve all problems. We took a RT at #19, a right tackle at #19. Think about that.

    Great Pick

IMO he was in my top 5 offensive lineman in this draft.*

He's so consistent. Great feet. Doesn't take penalties. In fact probably why people never heard of him is for that reason. His number was never called.

His feet are great. He can play in the NFL tomorrow.*

His negatives is he needs to be coached up a bit. He misses stunts and in the run game doesn't always drive. But that's simple coaching. Not like overhauling bad feet..

I get the feeling if we were to draft a MARINO clone, it would still be criticized.

We need OL big time. Gotta at least try.

It's amazing how people can work themselves into a frothing, towering rage over something as stupid as perceptions of value in the draft.

Hickey is probably a bad GM but it has nothing to do with him picking the guy Mel Kiper or whoever has a couple slots further down the board.

You do realize that our next pick is at 50. Who at pick 50 would you take that you'd be confident in to protect Tannehill on the right side?

People are idiots if they think we weren't going OL in the first. We had 4 open starting spots on the OL to start the offseason. And what will be there at our 2nd round pick will be questionable as a RT starter. James is a better prospect then Carey was at 19.

What is worth roasting him for is not taking the Saints 3rd. Extra picks in a deep draft is worth the risk.

Now if he goes OL again in the 2nd....then I'll crucify him. Good guard prospects in the 3rd. Get us some playmaking in round 2.

Do you not understand that James WOULD STILL HAVE BEEN THERE maybe even until the second round. Maybe we could have packaged that extra 3rd round pick to move up in the 2nd or 3rd round and grab someone good like a Seferian Jenkins. And yes, we very would could have selected Cooks with all the buzz on Wallace, even Todd Mcshay had us maybe taking a WR.

Bottom line is, we should have traded down.

Most guys you hire are going to be bad, it's even more likely when you have to get your 4th or 5th option because no one wants to deal with your ****ed up organization structure.

It's pretty obvious to me, you either trade back and pick up an extra 3rd and draft James or Moses, or you take Brandin Cooks at 19. It's really that simple. You maximize your value that way. You don't take a 2nd round prospect at 19.

And how many Tackles have gotten picked since we took our guy at 19? Assuming we would have traded back with the Saints we would have been three picks out with James and Moses still on the board.

I'm just tired of watching the Dolphins do the same **** every year.

Let's see how many OT get drafted between 19 and 27. #25 just went off the board and still no OTs.

Dude, value is relative. If they valued the protection of Tannehill over grabbing a Wide Receiver, then they are maximizing their value.
