We didnt leave a 3rd on the table. Hindsight is 20/20. If you have your guy prime for the taking, you dont risk moving down and hoping he continues to fall....too many other teams after us that could of used a RT (Carolina, Arz etc) to risk that.
Just a question...if it was as clear as you say...so freaking obvious we could have gotten anothet pick AND gotten James...are you trying to tell me Hickey is so inept he just said..eh...we dont need another 3rd rounder...no trade. Really? And that seems entirely realistic to you? Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
Ive never in my life seen so much bed wetting over a mystical 3rd round pick..that NOBODY even knows was offered...everything is all assumption. Any chance we find out we couldnt have gotten the 3rd...and a bunch of people look silly? Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
I'm not patting myself on the back, predicting we'd try and bolster the OL first and foremost is about as easy as it gets. I'm sorry if you feel like the pundits and your personal opinion are enough to declare James a bad value. I'd rather wait to see him play, just as I would have done if we'd taken a WR or any other position. You're the one crying because Santa didnt bring you what you wanted for X-Mas.
Actually that's exactly what it makes him, and makes him perform like one. So in essence our staff has put huge pressure on our 1st round pick.
Please describe the bed wetting you have seen in the past which would qualify your opinion..... Imeister wants pictures.....now!
The trade happened right after the 19 pick. Not gonna bash Hickey for staying and assuring the guy he wanted. But it's obvious he could have gotten a 3rd for the swap.
I think the team drafted scared. I think a third rounder was there to be had but they saw any risk as too much even though the reality is that the risk was probably minimal to none. I actually believe that Philbin made the pick and that since he has zero experience in the draft he didn't know how to work it. And that if we'd hired an experienced GM with power that had reached the same evaluation on James that they trade down 9/10 times given the same situation.
Again I do take issue with the scenario but I also feel James is a starter who could eventually be a top five RT so I can't complain too much. Lets see how the rest of the draft unfolds.
Completely agree with this , it also points out the state of the franchise and how it is being run imo. I think Philbin was scared or made the decision he wasn't going to not have the RT situation addressed asap , and wasn't going to take a 5% risk no matter what. Safe , cautious , mediocre. Not that the pick won't turn out ok or even well , but just poor asset management and while other teams move ahead , we tread water. Every year.
That pretty much sums it up however taking James when we did makes it imperative that he is a top five RT. Absolutely no room for error with that pick.
Adam Beasly on 790 the ticket just now said that Dolphins had 13 players on their board for pick 19 and James was one of them. He also said that the Dolphins had strong indication that Carolina was going to jump ahead of them and draft James if they traded back from 19, and they felt they were not getting enough compensation to worth the risk. Say what you will, but it is clear that the Phins rated this guy very highly, for better or worse, and they did not get cute with a player they thought was worth the 19th pick.
That is literally what I have been saying for the past 24 hours. We also could have seen KC do that as they lost 3 damn good starters on their line. It only made sense to stay put and draft him there.
I wouldn't say that. Chris Johnson and Decker are major upgrades whether you like to admit it or not. I'm glad we didn't go WR in the 1st round because it's extremely deep. I'd like to go WR in round 2 and then TE in round 3. I like our future!!
Right..NO traded up to 20. How do you know they werent working the lines with both us and Zona..doesnt mean the offer was the same to both teams. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
