Just not a fan of the way we are navigating the draft. I like the guys, but today we trade back 13 spots in the second and 9 spots in the 4th, to move up 14 spots in the 3rd and gain a 5th. I don't get that.
Or we gained an extra 4th, while getting a guy we could've taken at 50 without hesitation. And then felt comfortable enough to move up in the 3rd using a 4th rounder because we have another one, and landed a likely 3rd round rookie starter on our offense.
Worked out pretty well for Richmond Webb and Keith Sims. Just sayin... Although they were on the Left
Amidst my recent criticism, for those who think I don't like the players, I do. I called this draft 5 days ago when discussing how to handle the O-line and people were mentioning a trade up for Matthews so that he could play RT now and then move over to LT in a few years when Albert is done.
we still need some size, on both sides of the field... CB Dontae Johnson, (NC State) and Brandon Coleman from Rutgers in the 5th?
Clowney and ed werder doing a one on one interview...hilarious, good thing that dude can play football.. Man when your that good at sports it must be hard to study.
Hickey looked at too many mid round running backs to not grab one now that our O-line needs have been addressed. He won't be the choice of many but I like him- Devonta Freeman. LB- Carl Bradford CB- Marcus Roberson QB- Zach Mettenberg DT- Caraun Reid Maybe he doubles up on WR with a speed/vertical guy like Bryant/Herron or a bigger and more physical receiver like Kevin Norwood.
Good call man. It's quite easy telling who on here "know" what they are talking about versus those who "think" they know what they are talking about. There's a reason I was posting with you in the NON SPOILER thread Same time tomorrow? lol
Some guys I like, not all in the 4th round but somewhere in our remaining picks: HB Devonta Freeman HB Ka'Deem Carey HB Andre Williams TE Trey Burton LB Lamin Barrow WR Bruce Ellington HB De'Anthony Thomas WR Kevin Norwood WR Martavis Bryant DE Jame Gayle LB Shayne Skov WR Brandon Coleman OL Wesley Johnson DE Taylor Hart HB Lache Seastrunk WR Devin Street TE A.C. Leonard
agreed..still, ive got to think that some of what im seeing and hearing comes from just complete negligence over the years.
I'd like to see #125) DT Jones or Eliis #155) RB Ka'Deem Carey #171) FS Kenny Ladler or ILB Max Bullough #190) TE Jake Murphy #234 CB Shaquille Richardson
Cohen makes a good point: And finally, my catchword for today is “reliability”. Look at the three players the Dolphins have chosen so far. Ja’Wuan James started 49 games in college, a team record. Billy Turner started 56 of a possible 57 games. Jarvis Landry missed one game in three years and had one drop in 106 targets last season. Get the idea? The Dolphins wanted players they could count on. They wanted answers instead of questions.
I swear SF is turning into a big time "football program." Two deep at key positions. They got McDonald backing up Vernon. Picked up Stevie Johnson. Red shirted Tank & Lattimore last year. Now Brandon Thomas? Got Borland to go w/those backers, Ward to go w/those safeties. There's no freaking way they'll be able to keep all of this talent.
well, if it's like a big time football program they're not trying to keep all the talent. It's "next man up", and by doing that they get to load up on compensation picks when they let the starters hit FA, of which they can use to acquire more redshirts and "two deep" guys. Rinse, repeat. Not to mention they now have extra Navorro Bowman insurance after blowing out his knee.
...ok? The point is their roster is stocked and they keep restocking with high grade players. It's unheard of for a franchise to store multiple top players who are injured in today's win-now NFL. Having a plethora of picks alone doesn't guarantee success. You have to pull the trigger on these guys and SF is clearly displaying their level of talent eval & execution. Sheeeeit, the league can give your boy irish 12 selections in any given year and it will still result in a bad draft. "Rinse, repeat?" Yeah it's so easy everyone is doing it right?
my boy Irish? GTFO here. Secondly, your last sentence of the post I responded to was, "There's no freaking way they'll be able to keep all of this talent.". Do you need a refresher on that err does it only appear that you have short term memory problems? That statement is what I responded to b/c it was a dumb comment. So either respond accordingly to my response or go on your merry way. Thirdly, it's funny you speak of "having a plethora of picks not guaranteeing you success" but in the same breath you're already anointing San Fran's picks as being successful by saying they're "clearly displaying their level of talent eval & execution". You're all over the goddam place.
I thought trading down was going to result in more draft picks in the 4th round ? the jets and bills both have a lot more picks then we do . if we don't get more then one 5th rd pick I will be pissed. I thought we were going to get more picks in the 4th, 5th and 6 th round picks , so why did we trade down ?
They we're suppose to have two in the 4th but lost one when they traded up for Turner. They have two in the 5th.
