Yep, that was a more succinct way to get my point across. And quicker than I could deliver it too.

The good news is we agree. The bad news is we may share the same brain..........and based on my track record you've clearly got to use it more than me, so its now my turn.

I guess I just disagree for the most part.

One thing I loved about it, other than Captain America being a total badass, is that I had no idea who the actual bad guy was for most of the film. I was actually surprised in a good way. A surprise that both surprised me and didn't come out of left field.

yes it had the video game boss ending, but that wasn't any dumber than Batman Begin's machine that would have killed everyone and Bruce should have known how to turn off, or Unlimited Power Source that could blow up everything in Dark Knight Rises or any awesome impossible car chase scene in the Borne movies.

Please don't read the next bit if you haven't seen the film

Are you talking about the Winter Soldier reveal or the Alexander Pierce/Robert Redford one?

I'm not sure how I would have reacted to the WS reveal, but I knew about it before watching so that diluted the impact for me I guess.

On the Pierce one I just found it not surprising at all really. Maybe something about the casting, but I just twigged that he was a bad dude from the get go.

I loved the action in the film (some shaky-cam notwithstanding) and the characters were pretty great. The dynamics and chemistry between Cap/Widow and Cap/Falcon were especially good.

Agreed - I love all of those movies as well though, ridiculous or not. It think it would be nice to see a summer blockbuster style action movie that didn't have the massive set piece ending, but maybe I'd actually feel cheated when I walked out, who knows?

I knew the Winter Soldier reveal because I keep track of the comic books and the WS started about right when I decided to actually stop reading comics. Stupid Brand New Day.

Pierce was obvious of course because he screamed bad guy.

For me just how deep it went. I had no idea that SHIELD was going to be taken out by the end of the film. To me that was a "holy ****!" moment. There aren't many holy **** moments in movies at my age.

I also liked the tie ins with Gary Shandling(from Iron Man) being Hydra and the guy who was an important minor character on Agents of SHIELD being Hydra.

I also really liked how it wasn't all tied up in a little bow at the end. World was saved due to the worst design to place computer software ever. Why would you place a computer core there? It might as well be a flashing square! Well, world was saved but SHIELD was messed up beyond repair.

IMO Captain America Winter Soldier, did one of the best, "Wow that was a great movie and I can't wait to see what happens next!" It is rare for a movie to both be a good solid story and set up the next story without sacrificing anything.

Like The Dark Knight. I LOVE the Dark Knight, however I really hate the ending. Just want to turn the movie off after he captures the Joker. Also made worse by Heath Ledgers death that the set up doesn't even get a good pay off. Or Iron Man 2, which sacrificed a good story for being a good set up for the Avengers.

Yeah, that's a rare commodity in movies. I tend to agree that this one is a good balance between current movie story and set up.

Probably the last time I saw a movie with that quality was the original Matrix.

I feel like Ledger dying really hurts the end of TDK. You'd mind the ending a lot less if you knew you're getting more of the Joker in the next film.

Still the best superhero movie followed somewhat close by the first Ironman, imo. The rest is more or less a heap of crap.

I would mind the ending less. While I love the Joker, he should never win. TDKR makes TDK a Joker victory.

While I agree with best super hero movie, I totally disagree with heap of crap. Even those worst Marvel movie is heaps better than Elektra

Saw the new Spiderman movie. Much better than the 1st. I liked how they slowed the fight sequences down. It was as much story as action, a little too much angst for me, but that is a young Spiderman.

Saw The Amazing Spiderman 2. Its title is an accurate description. I really enjoyed it. Love andrew Garfield as Peter Parker.

Looking at the discrepancy between critics and user reviews on rotten tomatoes shows how detached critics are from reality. I don't even bother.

    Looking forward to the third.

Watched Infernal Affairs. I've seen so many people claim it's better than The Departed. While there was two aspects I enjoyed more with IA, The Departed is clearly better overall.

    The Departed was better because...

    - Streamlined plot and far more logical (Costigan/Costello connection) and far more tension.
    - More style.
    - Better characters and more fleshed out.
    - Better cat and mouse plot between Damon and DiCaprio characters as well as the Cops vs. Robbers.

    Infernal Affairs was better because...

    - Showing the Cop/Criminal informant struggling with his identity. His decision to kill the boss being his own, wanting to be free. The Departed unfolded in a way that Damon, had to kill Frank, rather than being a conscious choice.
    - Better ending, with the "bad guy" getting away with it, full of regrets. Although, I did enjoy Inspector Wong being split up into two different characters better.

All in all, The Departed > Infernal Affairs.

Are the sequels really that good? Might try and catch IA2.

Watched the Bourne Legacy last night. It wasn't anywhere close to as good as the first three, and not because of the actors. I like Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weiss a lot, I just dont think that they we given much to work with.

I watched Spiderman 2 and I wouldn't recommended it. The love story between Garfield and Stones character was so overwhelming and cliche I thought it was going to be a twilight movie. The teen age girls in the audience loved it and I am sure the the comic book fans would have cringed.

ASM2 is getting killed, both critically and at the box office, where it couldn't hold on to #1 for more than a week.

The only people who buy the hipster doofus Andrew Garfield as one of the greatest super-heroes of all time are generally people around his age.

I don't love him, but I do like him as Spidey more than I liked Tobey as Spidey. But again, I am 23 and I judge Spider Man of the animated series vs the comic book, and I don't know how that holds up vs the original.

How did you like Tobey as Spider Man?

Bad ****ing ***. Pretty cool ****ing movie, I definitely recommend it.
Going to make points without really giving anything away. With that being said, I know there are people who don't like to know ANYTHING going in to a movie, so I will throw a spoiler tag on it. Again, there are absolutely no spoilers, just couple of thoughts on the movie.

    • Movie should have been called Godzilla and Friends.
    • Semi big twist early on, definitely don't see it coming based on the previews.
    • REALLY picks up over the course of the last 45 minutes, not that it's boring or anything.
    • Sort of turns in to a WWE match lol
    • Juuuust a little bit corny and cheesy but I am knit-picky.
    • The movie will change your take on Godzilla as you know it.

IMO Garfield fits well as Spiderman. I was a big Spidey fan growing up. As a kid I liked the young, immature, irreverent teenage quality of the character. I'm not as much of fan anymore, but that's b/c I'm a different person. It's not b/c Garfield didn't do a good job of personifying the character. He did and younger fans love the character as I did. It's us old farts who changed.

I was scornful of the decision to cast him, as many were. But I was surprised to find that I accepted him well enough. Then again, I've always liked Tobey since I saw him in a local stage production of 'The Cider House Rules'. Way before the movie.

I still don't think it was a good decision, though; look at the casting of Marvel's superheroes—those guys LOOK like superheroes! And that's what I expect to see onscreen.

For instance, Henry Cavill is a fine actor and I'm a fan, but as Superman? Not convincing.

    The Guard: 8.5/10

Starring Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle. Dark comedy about an apathetic Irish cop with a dark, wry, and belligerent sense of humor, who stumbles onto a drug deal and gets forced to work with a black FBI agent. Written by the brother of the guy who made "In Bruges". If you liked that film (If you haven't seen it, **** off and watch it, it's also great), you'll like this. Gleeson is amazing... In both. Steals the show in The Guard.

    Will watch Sunshine. Sounds interesting.
EDIT: Speaking of Superhero movies, X-men: DOFP is getting great reviews on RT. Looks like Singer killed it once again with the X-men franchise.

    Sunshine: 7/10.

The science of the film is beyond me. I know a little about the sun from science docs, but really, the movie covers material beyond my scope. I'll just go with it... Somewhat formulaic in certain parts. The whole, "we must leave the ship to fix something" and the inevitable goes wrong... And I didn't like their reasoning for departing from the mission. One of those writing mechanics that makes me roll my eyes. Chris Evan's character was the only one making sense. And of course, the antagonist was underdeveloped and a bit supernatural. Like Bickety said, the 3rd act was weak. And the antagonist is the big reason why, even if it did add some suspense. The movie isn't unique in terms of plot points. Many sci fi horror films have been there, done that. The movie's real strength is the actors. Murphy and Evans are as strong as you would expect. Rose Bryne is such an underrated hottie. She looks like the love child between Cobie Smulders and Natalie Portman.

Not a bad movie, not great either. Entertaining enough to watch.

Pompeii... the unwanted and constantly disappointing bastard child of a Gladiator, LOR, and Titanic three-way after a failed abortion. Screen play had to be written by the 16 yo emo chic daughter of whoever got credit for this rubbish while she was high on heroin in a bathtub of vomit.

Dialogue was cliche and Kiefer William Frederick Dempsey George Rufus Sutherland was just poor casting with his out of place poncy accent that stood out gratingly among all the British accents at play.

Much chick flick s**t that makes you wanna stab the writers and director in the face after already beating them for the stolen fight scenes from better movies, and just ruining what could have been a decent sword 'n revenge flick.

Best part of the movie - everyone dies. Just not soon enough. Fkrs.

Yeah, I really hated this fkn movie. Wife made me watch it. Even my kids boo'ed it. End rant. lol...
