There is no way whether you could know if that is true or not, unless you are a member of the Dolphins coaching or personnel staff. Edit: I had to delete part of my post, because I mistakenly thought I was replying to LBsFinest.
His salary is pretty small for a bonafide #3 starter. The only reason I think Gibson could be in trouble is if he has injury set-backs - which, regardless of the positive reports right now, there's often the chance a guy has to get fluid drained, loses a few weeks, gets a tweak, etc. But, he's not making a lot of money ($3 M +) and cutting him now would only save about $1.7 M. If it's post June 1, they would save $2.7 M. Not anything significant if he is performing like he did last year. Gibson will not be a cap casualty! Only an injury one if he can't perform and others step in and are playing great. And they don't need the cap space right now. Next year is a different story.
Agreed. I inserted him into my list of possibles in thread on 2014 and beyond. Darkwa's pass blocking ability is really good in the videos I've seen. His speed helps also. That was a solid pick up for Miami. We'll see if he can run effectively. I'm tired of both Thigpen and Thomas. We know what they can do and their limitations. If someone even comes close to matching them in the pre-season I'd replace them in a heartbeat simply on future potential - as long as they can reasonably make some plays on STs and not be a major liability on the O.
