Hmm a team whose fans I really dont like...interesting time in Philly once at a NYG/Eagles game at the old Vet that had a jail under the stadium. No I wasnt there. Yes, I did wear a rain slicker over my Giants jersey on a beautiful day. Why? Because the Eagles fans have a reputation for throwing beer on opposing teams jerseys. Jet fans are scum but Eagles fans take the cake. Classless. Anyway I digress... - Your quarterback situation went backwards in my opinion. Its no secret Im not big fan of running qb's and I question Kaepernick from the pocket on every level. But the depth there is very good. No one else can say they have 3 qb's who can be legitimate starters (if Freeman pulls head from butt and Schaub starts throwing to the correct jersey again) - Skill position depth is among the best across the board. The amount of height at WR is scary. Bryant-Evans-Cooper-Maclin...wow. its a matchup nightmare for a lot of teams. The backs and TE's are really strong as well and with the TE's you have some flexibility as you can split them out wide as well. - The line is definitely a finesse OL and while the depth is OK, I think the only real stud there is Mathis. Kelce is above average as well. Saffold is a better guard then tackle though hes OK there. Lane Johnson...meh. - I like the defense. The DL is strong and deep. The LB's off the edge are fearsome with Cole-Jones-Jordan. The ILBs are above average...Lofton is a stud, McClain is good enough. If I have a complaint its the corners lacking speed, particularly recovery speed and your strong safety spot. I like Swearinger but his style lends itself to injury and penalties and hes terrible in coverage. Not a whole lot to say here. Well done.
Thanks. I agree for the most part except for QB. I think Foles had a fluke season in a good offensive scheme and Kaepernick is a big upgrade for the offense. My CB plan went out the window when all the FA CBs were tagged. I wasn't expecting that when the league started. I think my offense is my strength and my defense is full of young studs (Jordan, Jones, Kendricks, Cox) that if it develops properly could be scary. I feel this is probably the best overall team I put together, although I really liked my last years Bengals too
I'm not a fan of Kaepernick myself but I do feel he fits a Chip Kelly system well so I applaud that move. Foles obviously had a great year but I doubt he ever duplicates that level of success. I just don't see the physical tools. I just see the ability to find receivers open in space...which is a great attribute to have don't get me wrong. I just don't know how it translates to other systems. You did a great job at WR as well. Id agree your defense has a lot of potential but it also has a lot to prove IMO.
appreciate it. I think those are all fair comments except for your issue with linebacker. It was funny, after putting together my depth chart for a 3-4 look, I did have problems piecing together the 4-3. Teams these days spend so much time though in nickel and dime packages that IMO you have to be flexible in those situations. So if I were to put my best six front seven players on the field, I'd think it would be: Long, Dareus, Williams, Hughes, Alonso and either Van Noy or Borland. That's an interesting group. Anyway, I've got 9 guys that can stand up and play linebacker, I did notice one mistake though.. Dunbar I have listed as a 34 ILB, he, if anything would be an outside guy, but he's better suited for WLB in a 43. In the 34 I've got Long, Hughes, Lawson and Van Noy as outside guys. How deep do you want it?
Solid and realistic roster compared to some, even though you still made trades. Dalton vs Flacco is interesting. Im a fan of both honestly. I do like Dalton more but I think Flacco and his physical talent are better for you while Dalton and his better anticipation are better for my receivers so we both won. Getting close to the deadline hopefully a few more guys pop in and copy/paste their roster.
- Im a fan of your skill positions. Cam with a reliable running game and elite weapons around him is a scary thought. Hes a very good QB on the verge of being great. IF I have a complaint about the skill positions your RB depth if/when Foster gets hurt is shaky and the WR depth. I like Freeman but theres little in the way of experience and players that can handle a 20 carry workload for a few games here and there. Im not a huge fan of Davante Adams but you could do worse as a 3rd wr. Love the TE's. - Keeping Mack was a big move and a good one (even though it screwed me a bit...when I traded Pouncey I was gonna go after him. That worked itself out just fine though). I like the line though an all rookie right side is a bit of a concern. Still the prospects are good and at worst it should be adequate with some upside and at best you have 2 starters there for a decade. - My biggest beef with the defense is the DL. Its marginal at best. Quarles is an interesting Open End (RDE) prospect. Hughes provides little to no pass rush but hes the best player on this DL by a healthy amount. Hes an elite run defender and an ideal 3 technique making him a perfect closed end. Cam Thomas is a marginal NT. I like him but as a backup. The one thing ill say is a lot more teams ran 3-4's this year making this harder. - Love the LB's, particularly inside. Luke and Cushing are the best LB combo in the league and you have Matthews and Graham. Graham has a little something to prove but this might be a contender for the best LB unit in the history of the GML. 3 monsters and a player who could be a stud in Graham. Would like to see a little more depth as its rather shaky. - DB's are good, not great. Haden is elite, Ward is good. Banks and Bush have upside and have shon flashes of being very good players. Depth is pretty solid at CB, non-existent at safety
I would say they should be able to, but I'm not the final authority on that. The only drawback to co-GM's voting would be getting an extra vote for themselves, but with teams not being able to nominate themselves, I don't see why it would be an issue. I would even be in favor of letting someone like Griddles give noms considering he was around for the whole thing.
Thanks to everyone who has nominated me for anything so far or will in the future. I don't think any of us played for awards but it is nice to see when others agree with your moves or like what you did generally.
Is my O-line that bad that I get nominations for best offensive weapons but not really offense? Dalton? Just curious how my evaluations of players is perceived so next year I can improve.
GML Fun Fact: Did you know GM Fin-Omenal predicted Mike Pettine as Browns Coach in 2010, when her hired him as Head Coach while running Cleveland and hit on Alterraun Verner, CB, UCLA in the 6th round.
GML Fun Fact: In the 2011 Season Tim Tebow was the 10th best QB in the league throwing for over 3,000 yards, 28 TDs and only 8 INTs. Also the Carolina Panthers led by Kevin Kolb won the Superbowl over the Tom Brady led New England Patriots.
well, I haven't opined, but since you asked... yeah, not a big fan of Dalton personally, his days in Cincy are numbered IMO. Just too inconsistent.
GML Fun Fact: - Only 1 QB has gone 1st overall in the past five years. - 11 of 13 first round QBs have been drafted in the top 10. - The #9 overall pick has the highest rate of reaches for QBs. - QBs drafted in their exact spot for the exact team has only happened twice. Andrew Luck and Blake Bortles. 2010: Skull Destroyer (Washington Redskins) - #4 Overall: Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma Silverphin (Buffalo Bills) #9 Overall: Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame 2011: Fin-Omenal (Miami Dolphins) - #2 Overall: Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri Silverphin (Seattle Seahawks) - #3 Overall: Cam Newton, QB, Auburn Ether79 (Jacksonville Jaguars) - #9 Overall: Ryan Mallet, QB, Arkansas Desides (Cleveland Browns) - #28 Overall: Christian Ponder, QB, Florida State 2012: GridIronKing34 (Indianapolis Colts) - #1 Overall: Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford DevilFin13 (San Diego Chargers) - #2 Overall: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor Stringer Bell (Dallas Cowboys) - #14 Overall: Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M 2013: Duss (Detroit Lions) - #5 Overall: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia 2014: Nappy Roots (Jacksonville) - #3 Overall: Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida finfan7273 (Denver) - #5 Overall: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville finsbuck719 (Detroit) - #6 Overall: Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M
me either - guess i should have done a better write up - but i'd put my OLine and Defensive front 7 up against any team. Honestly, i was really thinking that between my WR's and RB's id get a hit there. But, oh well.
I like your front 7 and love your D line depth and versatility, but 2 of your 3 pass rushers will be rookies, so for that reason I couldn't list you in the Best Front 7 category on faith alone of first year production. Personally, I thought you were more than fine at DT/5-Tech to not need Louis Nix and felt cornerback not only was a bigger need but also represented better value [Jason Verrett]. Outside of your drunk trade I thought you did a decent job overall.
I was up for rookie of the year, feud of the year and best in trades my rookie year. Walked away with feud of the year ;p Although I've come to realize that if Todd had played out that season..I would have never sniffed that title OL noms can be tough though. I didn't get a nomination last year with Eugene Monroe and Phil Loadholt at tackle. Donald Thomas and Greco at guard with Rinehart backing them up and Schwenke at center. I'm just putting up noms that others have missed. Going thru just now I would have put up a nom for your front 7...but Todd already did it.
I'll have my full list of nominations up later tonight - sorry for the delay in everything GML-related the past few weeks; work has been very hectic. Thanks to all those that have voted for the fighting Mike Browns thus far. Edit - Mike Brown was conscious enough to cast his votes in between naps. Bengals votes are now in.
you're not eligible for feud of the year EDIT: I see that you posted "your" roster... and you're over the cap...
No arsehole. I know you're just messin' around..... but to clear it up just in case: I had a 2 and 1/2 month premature step granddaughter due [born 3.5 pounds] who was gonna require a lot of attention and care on my part while her mom was dealing with health issues [constantly in and out of the hospital (currently there again as we speak)] and my wife was working a travel nursing job on the weekends. She could fit in the palm of my hand when she was born. tiny tiny tiny. See, biatch.
Mega surprised I haven't gotten any Best in Draft nominations, especially after how many times you guys BK'd me. I started the season with the last picks of the 1st & 2nd rounds and no 3rd rounder but ended up with 3 1's and 2 2's and did a GREAT job filling needs early with top players at their respective positions and then killed it in the late rounds/UDFA by adding value, didn't have any players go undrafted, was off target on only 1 player, and used a trade-back to add my starting ILB of the future [Paul Worrilow] whom I rated above every ILB this draft sans Mosley. I mean c'mon: 1. Grabbed the draft's #1 DT [Aaron Donald] to replace the starter I lost to FA. 2. Grabbed the draft's #1 SDE [Kony Ealy] to replace Michael Bennett whom Ealy just so happens to draw heavy comparisons to. 3. Added the draft's consensus #1 rated RB. 4. Grabbed arguably the draft's #2 slot corner [Bradley Roby] to replace the departed Walter Thurmond. 5. Satisfied my draft's greatest need by grabbing the draft's #1 & #2 interior nickel rushers [Aaron Donald & Kony Ealy] to replace the two I lost [Bennett & Clinton McDonald]. This was a MUST for Seattle's nickel/nascar packages. Plus I killed 2 birds with one stone by having them double as starting DT & SDE. 6. Grabbed one of the draft's most promising upside receivers [Cody Latimer] to groom behind Anquan Boldin. 7. Grabbed the GM League's best value in the 6th & 7th rounds and UDFA: 6.165: Aaron Colvin [4.114] 6.169: Kevin Norwood [4.123] UDFA: Justin Britt [2.64] UDFA: Russell Bodine [4.111] UDFA: Kevin Pierre-Louis [4.132]
No a single "best in trade" nomination either despite adding Cam Wake, Von Miller, Star Lotulelei, Jason Peters, Julius Thomas, Tramon Williams, and Tommy Kelly? Perhaps if I didn't have trades reneged on Randall Cobb & Curtis Lofton it would've happened, right?
