Yup, me too most pitchers as well.....like Wells, Spaceman, Nolan, believe it or not I bet Matt Stairs would be cool to talk to because that guy was the opposite of what they do now but he was such a grinder/gamer......

How about you Fink for position players? Francouer eh eh?

I hate to be "that guy" but I've had many meals with "The Spaceman" and he's entertaining as hell. Wells would be another good one too. Probably Schilling as well since he's never afraid to talk.

As far as position players I bet Ortiz would be fun, I'd love to talk to Manny, Bonds, Pujols or Cabrera about hitting. Someone like Damon or Millar would be fun as well just to shoot the crap with. Jeter might not be bad either if he was relaxed and not trying to be "corporate PC" Jeter.

Ok been extremely busy but, Josh Beckett wow. I thought the guy lost it but I am happy for him. Big Game is back.

Just got XM back recently, would love to hear a win on the radio.

I remember when he came up for the Marlins, its a shame his career has been less than what it could be due to blister and other issues. So much talent Beckett had/has.

Good for Beckett, I'm really happy for for him. I thought he got a bum rap towards his end of his Sox run. Good to see him get that no no.

So that fight the other day started over Escober stealing when they were up 8-3, however Maddon said after the game that the Sox did it to TB in the playoffs last year up big.....Interesting if true, and not sure why the Sox got mad if that's the case....

If anything, TB surely does like to get under the Sox skin and speaking as a Yanks fan it is entertaining to watch.

I believe Maddon was referring to when Ellsbury stole when the Sox were also up 5 in the playoffs. So yeah I don't understand or get why the Sox were so mad at that. I certainly didn't see anything wrong with it. I think the Sox were just frustrated with the way they were playing and felt like they were getting kicked while they were already down.

As a Sox fan, I honestly can't stand TB. While I respect their talent and front office with how they put together a team with limited revenue I just think they are an extremely unlikeble franchise mainly due to the types of players they continue to roster, their Jet like chattiness and some of their 2nd rate type extra curricular stuff. I couldn't imagine the Yankees, for example, openly trolling teams on social media or before or after games, it just makes the franchise look poor. It's almost like what's the point?

I think alot of it has to do with the "little brother" syndrome.....Baltimore is the sameway in many respects, although alot of their cattiness is due to Showalter and not their FO....

But yeah for years now those 2 teams always seem to get into something at least once a year....I agree on the Yanks, but The Boss was definitely a little 2nd rate at times towards the Sox back in the day....

Manny knows hitting though, the guy whether it was because of PEDs or whatever was one of the best pure hitters I ever saw....yeah I saw that Papi said he has changed.....I applaud the move, listen is isn't going to be the next Stengal but it puts him around the game still, gets a little money in his pocket and he is out of sight....

Little brother syndrome with the extra stuff sure, absolutely but there's no reason why someone like Josh Lueke should be anywhere but jail right now. I can't understand how any MLB team thinks it's a good idea to roster him. How can you market the team with him on it? But TB always seems to look the over way with player's make up whether it's Escobar, Luke Scott, Delmon Young, Ellijah Dukes, etc etc. It seems like every year there's at least 2 or 3 guys like that on the roster. Not saying all 25 guys on the Red Sox or any other team are saints but it's absolutely a pattern with TB.

I have no problem with Baltimore except Showalter but Maddon is basically the same way Buck is with him loving to be in the spotlight and talk and talk and talk.

Sure The Boss loved to take shots at the Red Sox and the Sox look plenty of shots at the Yankees as well. But don't forget the Boss also left the lights on for teams to celebrate championships on the Yankee Stadium field while TB doesn't even play music for the Red Sox when they have batting practice there. It's just silly.

Again not saying there aren't examples of other franchises doing silly/stupid things because every franchise is guilty of it but it just seems like TB does it more often than not. I mean is there another MLB team that has a named section of their stadium celebrating the team making a huge regular season comeback to get into the playoffs even if they lost in the 1st round of the playoffs? I mean do the Pirates have something like that in their ballpark now that they made the playoffs for the first team in over 20 years? It's stuff like that that makes them look 2nd rate. Maybe a lot has to do with their lack of real history though.

Good to hear. Ethier is a tad overrated and isn't as good as he once was.

Plus the Sox should just trade Will Middlebrooks, Brock Holt and Clay Buchholz to the Marlins for Stanton.

FWIW, Pedroia was on WEEI this afternoon and said he didn't have an issue with Escobar stealing up 5 runs. Pedroia did have an issue with Escobar jawing at the Sox dugout and walking towards it. Pedroia said he would never turn around and jaw with Maddon or Price.

Other than the Red Sox, Baltimore is really the only other AL East team with good enough prospects to get a major piece like Samardzija at the trading dead line. Should be interesting times come July.

Although I still say because of two WC spots the trading deadline should be pushed back to mid-August and the MLB should just get rid of the August 31st waiver wire thing.

I didn't realize he is 29, where has the time gone? he is cost controlled for 1 more year (next) then he hits FA at which point he will be 31....I am not so sure if I am a GM that I am unloading a ****load of top level prospects for that....

If I'm Toronto I absolutely would for the right player and if I'm Baltimore I might as well. They only have a limited window to realistically compete with the Red Sox and Yankees. The Jays went all in last year why not again?

The good thing is that they would have him under control for at least another year so it's not like he's strictly a rental. Which again is why I don't think the Rays should wait to trade Price if they feel like they're out of the race because they're not going to get back a bigger package if they wait until the off season or next trading deadline.

It all depends if they open up a little bit (wallet)....TB cant we know this, but there isn't a reason other than the owner that Balt cant continue to do what they are doing...

And what (Tor) are they going to give up for him? MLB ready and high level guys.....?

    Who is his agent?

I'm actually surprised he hasn't been signed yet already. I still think it will get done but I'm not sure what the hold up is.

I would think the Cubs would want prospects back in any deal and would probably ask for high level guys that are a year or 2 away.

According to BR his agent is Mark Rodgers.

Yeah it was pretty good. It was a nice little celebration they had last night.

Stupid Red Sox not scheduling the rest of the year against the Braves....

De La Rosa is going to start Saturday in place of Buchholz. He's been throwing pretty well in Triple A, hopefully he's turned the corner. As bad as TB has played since sweeping the Sox, this weekend is going to be a challenge with Workman and RDLR starting games.

It would be silly if RDLR hits someone the Rays flip out over it since it's his first MLB start since 2011. But if a brawl does happen I'm rooting for Gomes to single out Lueke and go nuts on him.

I am kind of jealous, because the rivalry is them 2 not with the Yankees. Sox/Yanks play boring games.

And to think it all started because David Price got bombed at Fenway in Game 2 of the ALDS last year.

EDIT: The umps did a horrible job tonight keeping control of the game. Don't understand how an umping crew could have 3 rookies on it at once.

I got no problem with it. Home runs are apart of the game. David does have a lot of them. But getting hit for standing at home plate after hitting the ball is part of the game too. Has been for ever. Stop crying. You got hit on the back. Not up and in. Take your base.

By the way Fin. Meet Nick Goody yesterday. He came to the facilities and hung out before he pitched for the Tampa Yankees against the Bradenton Marauders. As you probably know. He's working his with back from TMJ surgery.

Good guy. Helped us with a recruit that is in town who just happen to be from Louisiana. (Nick went to LSU)

Hardly one of these days his little temper tantrums are going to do more then kill a bullpen phone.... Hell we all saw how he reacted when he thought he deserved a RBI ( think of a certain press conference ;) )

I will say if these comments by Ortiz are true about after Game 2 of the ALDS then that was kind of a bush move on Price's part hitting Ortiz tonight.

You can read the rest here: http://live.bostonglobe.com/Event/Red_Sox_2014_season_updates/117275219

Either way the bottom line is the Sox won the game and that's the best revenge.
