Yesterday I went to watch the Atlanta Braves play and was wearing a Ryan Tannehill jersey. They was an employee who started to talk to me. He said "my nephew just got drafted by you guys". He showed me pics of him and ju'wuan together just to prove to me he was being serious. He said juwuan's dad prayed the dolphins would draft him ever since he met with the team. I asked him what Ju'wuan thought about playing for the dolphins and he said Ju'wuan told him he's going down there to start cause he's never sat on the bench ever since he started playing football and didn't plan on it in the nfl either. He said Ju'wuan was one of the hardest working kids he knew and was mature beyond his years and a lot of us may have hated the pick but we will be happy having playing on our offensive line for the next 10 years
Sounds like james knew exactly where he wanted to be. (Sure, its cause our **** line gives him the best chance to start, but ill take it)
Being a tennessee fan my opinion of him is real biased but from watching him play there he was always solid. Never remember many times when pressure was coming from the right side of our line when he was there but I felt the same way about Dallas Thomas and that went all to hell
It hasn't went to hell just yet, he's just in year two and with an old friend of his joining the team now, it might spark a fire in his ***. Thomas, Smith and Turner will all be battling for starting jobs. And yes Smith too, because he's very average. Better than what we had last year but that's not saying much. Journeyman for a reason.
Him and dallas are really good friends. His uncle said he was excited to get to be with dallas again. Said he called him as soon as he got drafted
I don't think anybody hated this pick unless they're dead set on being a whining ***. Some people hated the perceived lack of value, but if the guy's a 10 year starter for Miami and locks down the edge then it was a great pick.
We don't need the 1972 O-line. We need a solid, workmanlike O-line to give Tanny and the backs a chance to get something going instead of having people in the backfield before the handoff or before he can look downfield. James has always been a right tackle; no need for a switch in position. If he comes in and is middle of the pack, we will have closed a wound that cost us a couple of games last year, and the pick will have been positive even if we didn't trade down. I'm really rooting for the kid.
I think Branden Albert's health will have something to do with James getting to really shine, or struggle. If Albert gets hurt, and James is asked to play LT at all (not sure if he'd be asked, or if someone else would play there) then it could, obviously, set him back in developing.
We don't know what the depth chart looks like, but I'd think that they'd have a contingency plan already for Albert as opposed to moving James and have 2 rookies starting on the left side. We still don't know what we have in Dallas Thomas either, who played both Tackle and Guard. Depth chart could be this: LT - Albert / Turner / Thomas LG - Turner / Thomas / Brenner C - Pouncey / Brenner / Larsen RG - Smith / Garner / Brenner RT - James / Fox
Good to hear. Really excited for this guy, I hope to hear his name being said by the announcers as little as possible. I heard Clabo's name way too much last year. OT, but I was at the Braves game on Saturday too man.
Great story. What many of us keep forgetting (I do it sometimes too) is we got a brand new, top-notch, O-line coach. Our old coach, with the crew he had last year, managed a few "decent to slightly below average" showings...I'm hopeful for what this new guy can do with the new squad. If Pounce can act anywhere close to a professional, there will be an entirely new attitude and swagger (ya Philbin...suck it) on this O line. Can't wait to see the competitions in camp for this unit.
He said he was a bears fan but a lot of his friends were dolphins fans, said they loved that the fins drafted Ju'wuan but hated we picked a lineman in the first round
I read yesterday (don't remember which site, sorry) that Dallas Thomas is being played strictly at guard now.
I am a TN resident...but I don't watch the Vols lol. I do like James quite a bit, and I think it's too early to give up on Dallas Thomas.
We don't know what we have in Dallas Thomas yet. I think people forget that he was a rookie who throughout training camp was moved around almost every line position because the coaches knew how bad the line was going to be. He never got a chance to play an extended amount of time in anyone spot to get acclimated and he didn't have a lot of quality help from his teammates on the line when he did get in there. In reality, we saw too little of him to make an assessment. I just think we can dial back the doom and gloom on him till we see more.
