It's not like we're trying to find out what Nate Garner's upside is. I would've given McKinnie a call already.

I suppose they can always kick Billy Turner out to LT if something happens to Albert.

Anyone if the 'open to the media' OTA's would permit one of those media guys to stream video? Would be awesome to see.

Omar's been tweeting out pictures, mostly of generic drills and guys moving from one station to another, but he did have this pic of Michael Egnew doing some in-line TE work.

Considering he's coming up from the FCS, I don't think you'd want to do that unless he were practicing at left tackle and you were confident he could handle it. But you can't have him practicing there if he's trying to win the LG job. So ultimately it makes more sense just to sign McKinnie, get him ready while you allow various competitions to play out however they will, and then make the tough decision on the eve of the season about whether you can afford to roster McKinnie, Fox and Garner.

Omar mentions Mike Wallace being moved over the field "like DeSean Jackson" but the fact of the matter is DeSean Jackson was pretty stationary at Right Wide Receiver in 2013. PFF had all 17 games classified at RWR which means he took more snaps at RWR than any other WR position in each of the 17 games. His throw and catch pattern shows that he played on the right side, as he was thrown the football 65 times on the right side as opposed to 14 times on the left, with those 14 times quite possibly coming on the left side due to him having crossed the field on crossing patterns which the Eagles favored.

Jackson was played in the slot about 26% of the time which is more than Mike Wallace's 3% (I laugh when people try and claim Joe Philbin inherently loves to move his wide receivers all around the field). So if Wallace is playing the slot more often, that would be more "DeSean Jackson-like".

But is it really "DeSean Jackson-like" or is it just more "NFL-like"? Because the average percentage of time spent in the slot for the 39 wide receivers in the NFL who ran 500+ routes in 2013 was 29%.

Mike Wallace's 3% slot participation was literally the lowest of all of those wide receivers. The NORM is for these receivers to actually move to the slot some. If Wallace is used in the slot more that really has nothing to do with him being used more like DeSean Jackson, IMO.

Hmm. Armando says that Knowshon Moreno looks thick around his belly and needs work that way.

I wasn't aware that his gym work ethic has ever been in question but Andrew Garda seemed to intimate on twitter that this is pretty unsurprising.

    From Omar's twitter:

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 5m
Charles Clay just made a big block to spring Lamar Miller on a respectable run inside the 10.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 6m
Cam Wake and Randy Starks just flushed Tannehill out and made him throw it away. Third down.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 7m
Stephen Williams is working with the first team receivers. Guess Dolphins like his size in redzone too.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 8m
Ryan Tannehill just misses Mike Wallace in the back of the end zone. Brent Grimes gave him a ton of cushion, which isn't the norm.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 9m
Lamar Miller is working with the starters today. Took first carry of 2nd team period, which is redzone work.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 10m
Dion Jordan has gotten a little bigger. Maybe he's stronger.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 13m
Jared Odrick continues to do his rehab assignment. Not sure the issue.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 14m
Rishard Matthews continues to be the first team slot receiver. Jarvis Landry is his backup.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 15m
Ryan Tannehill gets a chat in with his weapons before the second go at team drills.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 19m
Stephen Williams, receiver No. 81, is so much bigger than his peers. I'm intrigued by his size. pic.twitter.com/mnR4ptSW56

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 20m
Marcus Thigpen is here. He must be working with the receivers now because he didn't do tailback stuff.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 22m
This is your new Trifecta of power in the front office Dolphins fans. Can you name them AP students? pic.twitter.com/1PLggjoSYn

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 23m
Got to admit, this offense looks interesting. At least today it does.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 24m
Daniel Thomas just produced a big inside run. O-linemen were on the ground but no defender touches him for 10 yards.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 25m
Pretty sexy screen from Ryan Tannehill to Charles Clay for a respectable gain. Pace is challenging the D right now.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 25m
Jason Trusnik just destroyed a run from Mike Gillislee in the backfield.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 26m
Matt Moore with a nice 20-yard pass to Rishard Matthews.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 28m
Brandon Gibson just walked past me. He looks a little bigger than last year. He's not working with the team today.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 29m
Brian Hartline is participating in the first team period.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 32m
Mike Wallace just gained 20 on a double reverse. Fun stuff.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 36m
Sam Brenner is the second team center. He had a HORRIBLE snapping day last week when we were here. Let's see if he's clean today.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 39m
Shelley Smith, who is No. 64, is a lot smaller than I expected. He seems athletic though. pic.twitter.com/nYJM6IvHeO

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 41m
Do you see why I love the bubble practices. I'm right on top of everything. pic.twitter.com/lpOVnlnetY

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 44m
Marcus Thigpen, who has a back injury, is missing practice again.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 45m
Daniel Thomas remains the biggest back the Dolphins have. He's not guaranteed a spot on the 53 though. Big year.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 46m
This is the new model of Dallas Thomas. Leaner and stronger than last year. pic.twitter.com/giISKXDVDB

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 48m
Rookie tight end Arthur Lynch appears to be participating a little more this week. He's nursing an injury.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 51m
These are the wanna be backup safeties. Dolphins have a goo trio. Need to find one more. pic.twitter.com/v55kJ9G9V0

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 53m
Brandon Gibson continues to watch the practice. He was very limited last week. Doubt anything changes as he's still rehabbing knee.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 55m
Nate Garner is working as the second team left tackle and Jason Fox is the second team right tackle.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 56m
Michael Egnew just got chewed out for lining up in the wrong formation by Bill Lazor, who has a presence to him.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 57m
Dolphins tight end Michael Egnew working on the line.

    Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 17m
Two RBs in the backfield. That's different.

    Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 20m
Dolphins WRs are practicing their shifts coming out of the huddle. After not doing much of it last year, of course it needs work.

    Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 38m
Read option keep by Ryan Tannehill.

    Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 40m
    The old double reverse!

    Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 47m
DC Kevin Coyle also spending time with DBs. Lots of attention for that position so far today.

    Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 49m
GM Dennis Hickey watching practice with director of pro scouting Anthony Hunt. Both focused on DBs.

    Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 53m
Second year player Dallas Thomas continues to take first team LG reps. Shelley Smith at RG.

    Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 55m
Entire roster is present for this voluntary OTA.

    Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 55m
Jared Odrick is not working today. Missed open OTA last week with unknown injuryz

    Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 59m
Sam Brenner, who spot started last year as a rookie, is working as the second team center.

    Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 1h
Billy Turner working at second team LG next to backup LT Nate Garner. Yeah. Nate Garner backup LT.

    Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 1h
Tight end screen to Charles Clay. Anyone remember that being run last year?

    Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 1h

Jensen and Devlin exchanging body blows in their fight for the third QB spot. Devlin threw a TD pass just after Jensen fumbled a snap, then Jensen threw a pretty looking TD pass to Matt Hazel on a fade route which was followed up by Jimmy Wilson intercepting Devlin.

Won't be surprised if Miller tops the depth chart week 1.

Been saying this since they signed Knowshon: adding Moreno on a one-year deal was a vote of confidence in Miller, giving Lamar one last chance this year to be the guy. He'll lead the team in carries, imo.

Much more action today for sure...

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 36s
Brian Hartline catches a TD pass from Ryan Tannehill. This score wasn't on Brent Grimes.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 56s
Brent Grimes is back again for more abuse from Mike Wallace. This is mind blowing.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 1m
Matt Hazel drops a beautiful floater in the back of the end zone. GREAT throw from Pat Devlin, who still celebrated it. Amazing throw.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 2m
Pat Devlin throws a forever floaters on what's supposed to be a quick hitch to Kevin Cone. Steven Clarke blasts him for no gain.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 4m
Armon Binns just caught a Matt Moore 25-yard TD pass, beating Will Davis. I just don't see the magic everyone sees in Davis.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 5m
This has to be Brent Grime's worst practice of his life.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 6m
Mike Wallace just scored a 25-yard TD from Tannehill ON Brent Grimes. That's it. I'm done! (in my Ricky Williams voice)

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 7m
Teams again. If Brent Grimes gets scored on again I might retire for the day.

Brandon Gibson is so bored he's throwing passes to himself while he's sidelined by his knee rehab. pic.twitter.com/7acpqdKRp5

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 15m
Brandon Fields is booming his punts during special teams drill AS USUAL.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 20m
Jimmy Wilson just picked off a Ryan Tannehill pass in the end zone, returned it for 30 yards.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 21m
Mike Gillislee just scored a 6-yard TD on a flare pass from Matt Moore, out sprinting Don Jones.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 22m
Don Jones jumped a receiver route, but dropped the interception of a Matt Moore pass.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 24m
Just watched Arthur Lynch stonewall Philip Wheeler on a blocks. I'm intrigued.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 25m
Knowshon Moreno just dropped the first pass of team red zone drill. NOT IMPRESSED with him today.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 25m
Koa Misi is doing a pretty good job directing traffic. pic.twitter.com/HVRl3lyVfX

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 27m
Damian Williams just caught a red zone TD from Ryan Tannehill. On who? Brent Grimes, who yells "DAMN!"

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 28m
Matt Moore just throws a TD pass to Mike Wallace, who beat Brent Grimes. What the hell is going on today with Grimes?

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 29m
Matt Moore misfires to Mike Wallace in the back of the end zone. He loses his reps.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 31m
Stephen Williams just dropped a pass. Stock is dropping a bit more. He might be pressing.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 32m
I swear, the coaches have asked Brent Grimes to play off more because he usually doesn't give this much space.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 33m
Just discovered Stephen Williams is lacking in the body control department. My excitement is now tempered.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 35m
Before the Tannehill to Wallace TD pass Tannehill missed him in middle of field. Delmas warns "you gonna get him killed."

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 36m
Beautifully placed 20-yard floater to Mike Wallace from Tannehill for a TD. Showed touch.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 37m
There is a lot of motion to the offense. I see penalties in their future. Motion creates confusion for offense and defensive players.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 38m
Joe Philbin just yelled play speed to the offense. Tannehill throws a TD pass to Clay which Clay drops. It was broken up. Didn't see defender

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 38m
7-on-7s and Ryan Tannehill's first pass is a 15 yard gain to Armon Binns in the middle of the field.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 41m
Dallas Thomas is making me a believer. Maybe he can hold that starting LG spot.

Hopefully that jersey was a Titans one. Kearse was a shadow of himself with the Eagles... his final couple years were a damn shame. Hopefully Jordan continues to hone his craft and take care of his maintaining his body the way Wake does.

Top performer of today's practice was clearly Mike Wallace, who scored a handful of TDs. Was an embarrassing day for Brent Grimes.

Y'all are misinterpreting what I'm saying...clowney cannot go out to the perimeter and cover a wide receiver with good technique, balance and movement..

N.S.E.W..at that size no one can move in those directions more fluidly than Dion Jordan imo.

Love hearing the Koa stuff, leadership abilities...cool.

    Finnegan helping Jamar after class..cool.

I want those three on the field, grimes, finnegan and Taylor, all three are all around corners with excellent tackling ability..Jamar has the potential to be the best tackler on the defense..he can zero in like a missile.

Definitely a Titans jersey. I got it mainly for the baby blue colors, though. lol.
    Got to coordinate.

I agree with everything you said though.

Seems like Sherman made some comments last year to the effect that they felt that Tannehill needed to focus on improving his play from within the pocket. I think he purposely kept Tannehill tethered.

Rewatching the Colts game from last season, Tannehill definitely looked like he wanted to run more in that game and subsequent ones at times. I think that Sherman had the best of intentions for developing Tannehill, just lacked ability to do so in the framework of today's game. Didn't help that the OLine struggled as much last season as it did.

Excited to see how we perform under Lazor and with Benton coaching the oline now.

Really if Koa, Delmas, Jamar, Dion and finnegan can win their jobs our defense will be so much better, and way more nastier.

If they an win their jobs that lineup has a chance to be good to very good.
