Ted Ginn Jr. [26] + Ronnie Brown [102] Samson Satele [59] - Vernon Carey [58] this is gonna turn into a war over TG19
Ted Ginn Jr. [29] + I still think Ronnie should take it home, but I like Ted Ginn better than Samson Satele just because I think he's the more exciting player and has much more room for improvement. Ronnie Brown [102] Samson Satele [58] - See above. Vernon Carey [56]
What's more exciting than seeing your offensive linemen open holes for the running game and pass protect so your QB isn't on his *** and has time to get the ball to those WRs?
Ted Ginn Jr. [26] + Ronnie Brown [103] Samson Satele [60] Vernon Carey [56] - The Battle of Ted continues.
Ted Ginn Jr. [23] Ronnie Brown [109] + Samson Satele [58] - Vernon Carey [55] Interesting. 1 Rick Spielman pick, 1 Dick Saban pick, and 2 RanCam picks.
Ted Ginn Jr. [23] Ronnie Brown [108] - Samson Satele [59] + Vernon Carey [55] Dont mess with Samson, thats my boy
What I don't understand is why all the Ted Ginn supporters aren't voting against Ronnie Brown. If Ted has any shot at all of winning this thing Ronnie needs to be reigned in and soon
Its obvious that Ronnie is going to win. It's not even close anymore. but 2nd or 3rd place are still attainable.
Which WRs? Wilford and Hagan? They barely constitue a decent #3 and #4 WR on a good team. without Ted you're throwing to cornerbacks this year. Two words: coverage sack. That said, I love a strong running game, and this O-line might prvide THAT. Bpk
While I agree that Ginn is the flash of the bunch. I don't think it's fair to belittle the rest of our WRs just yet. Look how far Dallas WRs got by feeding off the same system we have here now. Big strong oline, two very talented runner, one big play WR, a smart strong TE with good hands, and a confident QB who can execute a gameplan. Fasano may not be a Witten, and we haven't seen proof of success from any of our QBs. But I will argue that with the success of the ground attack, combined with a big play threat from Ginn; Wilford and Hagan can easily achieve what Patrick Crayton did in Dallas. There's also a guy named Davone Bess who is already a fan favorite. Just to keep things clear. I'm not arguing that Wilford or Hagan can be a Reggie Wayne or Tj Houshmanzedeh, just that they can be successful as #2 and #3. It wouldn't be fair to compare them to teams that have the luxury of 2 #1 WRs.
Fair enough... I just get surly over the idea that there is more dropoff if we lose one of the linemen than if we lose Ginn. He is the only one who does what he does on this team: create any deep threat. Without him, defenses can compress the field and play tight to the line, bringing the safeties up a bit, and blitzing more freely. That makes it harder to run, AND harder to pass protect, negating any benefit of keeping one lineman. If we lost a Samson, or a Vernon, then the running game would suffer a bit, but they are only1/5th of the line... AND there are at least other people capable of doing what they do, just not as well. We could plug another guy at Center or RT and give up a few more sacks, sure, but still do what a line does... just less well... but who else on the team has the speed to scare a secondary? Not a single person. Removing Ted impacts this team much more than removing one lineman. Bpk
Ted Ginn Jr. [24] - This is for all you ginn fans who keep subtracting from my boy vernon Ronnie Brown [110] Samson Satele [58] Vernon Carey [53] +
But your'e looking at it from the wrong perspective. Yes, Ginn is a deep threat. And no, at this point no one else on this team is a bonafide deep threat receiver. But do not belittle the contributions of the Offensive Line. Without a stout offensive line all the deep threats in the world are meaningless. The offensive line opens holes for the running game. Making a defense respect the running game opens passing lanes. Open passing lanes don't mean much if the offensive line can't give the QB enough time to throw. And please do not give me that tired excuse you don't need time to throw to Ginn cause he's downfield so fast. You always need time. If the defense knows you're only going to have 3 seconds to throw they're going to play like you only have 3 seconds to throw. And if you do try to bomb to Ted Ginn on every passing play they'll rotate a deep safety or double cover him and chuck him at the LOS. You have to be able to get Wilford and Hagan and Fasano and Ronnie in the passing game. And that requires good blocking. The offensive line is the most important part of the offense and having an all-pro at tackle is much more important than having an all-pro at WR. Because without that all-pro at tackle that WR isn't going to do what he does half as well.
