If Wake is judged solely on last year then I think Grimes should be considered elite. Pff is a little off on Pouncey, Fields, and Denney IMO.

A lot rests on Lazor and his offense. I'm apprehensive about getting too excited about him until I actually see what he's bringing to the table, but the possibilities excite me. I'm not very high on the defense this year. Outside of the defensive line, I'm not thrilled with any unit and very worried about the secondary.

If we can get Dion, Wake and Vern playing together, with our corners and Dline applying pressure I'm not to worried about 1st and 2nd down with Misi in the middle..I think we will be better.

C'mon, Vernon below average starter? Vernon, Denney and Pouncey are much better than their grades.

Vernon played well early in the season and appeared to be headed for a very good year. Unfortunately, he hardly showed up in the last four games of the season.

In fact his season last year was very comparable to his career at the University of Miami. He played great ball as a freshman at UM, but his play steadily went down hill after his first season at UM.
Hopefully Jordan can come in and win the DE position from Vernon this year. Vernon can be a solid backup DE for the Dolphins but I don't ever see him being anything more than a below average starter over the course of an entire season.

Vernon also played the most snaps on the D-line last year, there's a good chance he was worn down by the end of the year. Jordan taking more snaps should help keep him and Wake fresher as the season rolls on.

Vernon had a respectable year though.

Why? Because of draft status? Whoever is better gets the reps. It will be hard for DJ to unseat Vernon if he continues to get better.

You can argue that based on Jordan's pressure percentage he should see more time, I will never disagree with that. But, Vernon has been playing very well in his own right. Nothing wrong with them splitting reps staying fresh and killing it out there.

Good question..Vernon looks to be a solid player, Dion needs to be a great one..for our teams sake we need him to live up to #3.

Fair enough. I'll take that. Would be nice if both can develop to their potential......thinking about days without Wake.

Would be nice, and if they do, with wake in the fold, one is gonna have to start on the bench, which I hate thinking about.

PFF is almost incomprehensibly positive about us. I want to believe but I've been hurt by this team before. For example, Tannehill is rated as the 5th best QB when throwing to the middle and 3rd best to the right (Hint: Wallace's side of the field). I just need to see this team play at this point. Numbers won't do anything for me anymore.
