This has been a great start to the series. Should be interesting when the venue switches to Miami.

Okay so on that play where Lebron smacked the ball off Parker out of bounds....best part was the expression on Lebrons face as Parker drove. He was just like "Man...whatever. SMACK"

I still can't believe they gave the ball to the Spurs after the review. It looked like it went off Parker's leg and James didn't touch it after, but doesn't really matter since the Heat ended up winning.

It looked like Lebron did touch it with his hand again, but it looked like it rolled off Parker again after. Oh well.

Regardless of the replay outcome Lebron made Tony his ***** on that play.

This is a tough series. Getting leads on this team tonight was like pulling teeth.

Maybe I'm wrong but Tony Parker hasn't had a real Tony Parker game. And Kawhi Leonard is borderline blowing it. That's kind of what is scaring me because the big three (MIA) have been showing up but those two on the Spurs haven't and it's 1-1. Miami has room to go down and the Spurs have room to go up, so that is a bit scary. On the other hand this series will now be played in Miami, where the support shooters are more likely to make killing shots rain.

I think Kawhi is getting worn the F out defending Lebron. Last year Lebron was weirdly passive for the first three games. This time he's kept the throttle open and I think Kawhi is expending so much energy on Lebron he's got nothing left for the other end.

A Tony Parker game is taking guys off the dribble, hooking your arm around your primary defender to turn the corner and finishing at the rim. With a guy like Lebron guarding him he will never have a big game in this series IMO because he can't play Tony Parker basketball.

What it does do is take Lebron off someone else though, I actually agreed with JVG when he said they need to run their offense through Ginobli when Lebron guards Parker. The problem for the Spurs when that happens is that Parker is essentially useless or at best just another guy if he isn't handling the ball directing the offense.

I agree with MrTree on Leonard.

Game three should be pretty telling in terms of where this series will go because either team could be up 2-0 right now.

Maybe the bottom line is on the road it has to be all about the big three finding a way to steal one, and at home is when all your shooters and specialists come out to play.

I think you're selling short what guys like Lewis did tonight. It wasn't all about the Big 3 tonight. Not even close. EVen though Lebron and Bosh had nice games.

Bosh was actually -11 on the floor tonight with Wade at -8.

Obviously +- only tells part of the story, but other guys stepped up defensively, and Lewis with 14 and Allen with 9 played solid games.

The interesting part I took from that is how we can put size in him. How many teams have one guy who is bigger than him that can keep up with him?

    We have two.

I think sometimes Lebron has a comparison of era's problem, meaning the media recalls Jordan..thus compares him to Jordan, reality is he is more Magic Johnson but more explosive.

Spurs loss tonight demonstrates one of the problems with being the team that has to execute flawlessly, 4 missed FT's in a row pretty much sank their battleship.

Did not really notice DW being DW, where he just steps on the gas and gets to the rim

Definitely. I guess my post can be read as a slight to Parker but I didnt mean it that way...he is a slippery PG who knows how to create an advantage for himself and he can finish from all angles at the rim. Tony Parker is a great PG because bigger guys can't keep up with him and he can finish over smaller players. However we do have the tools to make his impact minimal and not many teams do.

He is definitely more Magic than MJ....but I'm one of the few that would take Magic over MJ anyway. So I'm fine with that.

Jordan had more Ray Allen in his game, would just hit daggers, Magic and LeBron can do it all from playin PG to being the hot hand scoring when needed.

Bron's game is Magic, only better, granted he has not started at Center ala Johnson in the finals, he also has not been asked to do that either.

IIRC, Heat win the title, he ties Magic for rings?

Got to give credit to Spo for a game plan putting LeBron on Parker. Parker loves the running floating tear drop but against LeBron's length his options diminish. Overall Miami's ball movement was a lot better than the spurs. The ball for some reason stuck for the spurs and they went away from what that were good at. With LeBron imposing his will and opening things for the Heat he gives Miami the edge for the series. Plus they have home court now.

As exciting as this series is, this offseason is going to be exciting too. Could be some major changes.

I'm enjoying the momemt but I'm also interested in what this team looks like next season.

There has to be major changes. We have 5 guys under contract and three with early termination clauses. That's 10-13 signings.

It's not "could be", there will definitely be big changes. Battier gone, Allen most likely gone, Haslem might be done as well. Then depth like Beasley and Lewis and Jones need to be evaluated. I'd like to see a bigger role for Jones next year if he comes back, and Beasley might be nice to retain as a regular season rotation body.

I sort of feel like the Heat have a decent chance at Melo and might have a way to fit him under the cap.

No guarantee Allen is gone. Haslem either. Just because contracts are up doesn't mean we are done with said players. Battier is done. Thankfully. I'd assume Beasley and Oden will return. Cole as well.

The changes may not be as big as we assume.

Haslem has an ETO which he will not take. He's guaranteed $4.5 million. He will be back.

I imagine Allen will be back as well if he wants to keep playing. No sense going somewhere else at this point.

One page the Heat needs to start taking from San Antonio's book is valuing those late draft choices a little more and taking them more seriously. SA drafted most of their role players will late picks, in addition to grabbing developmental guys off the scrap heap (like Danny Green). Riley used to be a master at this, but we've gotten away from it. We haven't uncovered an Ike Austin or Haslem in a long time.

I also wouldn't mind a Shabazz Napier this year.

I agree, but for too long we've treated the draft with only a half seriousness, unless we had a top 5 pick.

Some of that was for cap purposes which I understand, but there is no reason we can't find rotation pieces where we draft.

Napier is obviously a guy they should look at. Mitch McGary too.

Tony Parker has been sensational in both games. Heat throwing kitchen sink at him..and it is not working.

What is happening to the Spurs with Lebron is that they switched their strategy to guard him straight up..and they are actually doubling Wade on the strong side...last year...they sagged..and played Wade straight up.

Now..the thinking on that is that Wade is a post player essentially..so they don;t want him to establish himself..and strong side doubles can induce turnovers. It is a sound strategy.

Where it fails is that you have to guard Lebron straight up, and he is WEARING Leonard OUT.

Spurs are in desperate need of an adjustment to save a game out of the two in Miami..if not..they are going back to San Antonio down 3-1.

    He still is.

Patrick Beverly was a Heat project that never developed. He then...DID.

The Heat also have this guy stored away, and he will be a rotation player soon:

BTW...Wade was great all night guarding Green. In Game 1..he blew two assignments that were killer down the stretch.

He left him ONCE..and that was trying to cheat to get a steal on an entry pass to Duncan....Lebron gave him a look and told Wade.."Don't leave him". He didn't.

Fronting Duncan has been a disaster all series.

We switch to guarding him from behind, and straight up with ball pressure...and he shot 2-8. Go figure.

This series has been a DEEP chess match between the coaches..and Spo is ........winning.
