That's kind of a problem, given how much the team would owe them. In that unlikely event, the team would consist of James, Wade, Bosh and 12 folding chairs.

No do on the 12 folding chairs, they have to give one up and bring in the mop bucket.

This is backwards. They have to opt out from, not opt in to, their 5th years. They have until June 29 to opt out.

Pat Riley is so good that he is making me be late for work right now, Pat Riley can sell anything to anyone, don't see Lebron leaving.

Most newsworthy item was that Pat revealed LeBron and his wife are having a baby girl.

Not sure if LBJ wanted that revealed yet, but there it is, lol

Don't say things like that unless you're willing to have Maynard break into your house and force you to "prove it".

But, given that this would probably take an entire offseason for him to accomplish, we as a nation cannot afford it.

    Boik...

this is what my plan would be:

Get Melo to opt in for 1 year at current salary with the promise of giving him added pieces in 16'.

Then immediately go and build the SUPPORT system for my contender in 16'....NOW.

it will mean that you will barely be a 8th seed if that and get your teeth kicked in...but you will have a year of binding before you add your Max and Mini-Max the following year to go with a reduced salary Melo.

All of this can work if Melo takes a realistic cut.

Cavs get the top pick in a draft where Oladipo is the best player and now Embiid goes down a week before the draft? I mean...this just isn't even fair at this point, right?

Aside from the fact that they had the top pick in a draft where the best player ever came out.

You should have been taking Wiggins anyway. You might have been saved from yet another monumental error.

Of course you'll then go and hire Tyrone Freaking Lue as your head coach and the cycle will continue

I was hoping the Cavs would take Embiid so Parker or Wiggins would fall to the Sixers at 3. It will be interesting to see how this draft plays out with any potential trades, etc.

Actually it could be taken a couple different ways, THAT is what is interesting about it. No need to be so defensive, more than ever I'm convinced he stays. Atleast one more year.

I like Parker the most, followed closely by Embiid. I'll be happy with any of them provided they're healthy though.

I'm not defensive. I am responding to the defensiveness by the competition's fans on twitter. I realized after this presser that the Spurs don't matter. They are irrelevant. People understand what it (The NBA) really is about, and they understand how the pecking order will go for a while.

Well, the way I see it is whatever team Bron is on will be the favorite too win it all for the next 5-6 years. He is THAT good and THAT much of a difference maker. His supporting cast struggled and they ran into a pissed off veteran team that knows how to play basketball.

Lebron is the star of this Heat movie.

Parker is the most pro ready prospect this year, so he can come in and contribute right away. Embiid has great potential, but his recent injuries may scare some teams off. With the Cavs, you never know. I'm sure not many people saw them taking Bennett last year.

This might be the best thing for the Cavs because they should have been taking Wiggins all along. They still could find a way to screw it up though. Embiid may have the higher upside for impact considering he's a big in a league with very few good bigs, but there's a reason why there are so few good bigs. Many of them don't pan out whereas backcourt players do more often. I'd rather take a less-risky gamble and still end up with a guy with major star potential.

In the big picture they are. Look at how the Spurs won their 5 championships. They never went on any run of championships. In fact, they never won any back-to-back. They won them with a great organization that was competitive for 15 years straight. It was never about beating any one team, it was building a winning organization. The Heat have a guy in Pat Riley that can build that.

Yes. as irrelevant as the Mavericks were / are now.

The league is about where the power is..and the power is with the very best players. He who has Lebron, Durant, Blake, etc...longterm..wins.

Would you rather have 5 championships in recent memory or 2 championships and alot of unknowns? Isnt Lebron led teams 2-3 now in Finals?

Mavericks won once not 5 times. And the Spurs are still set up to be on of the favorites next year. So a team that just won and can win next year is hardly irrelevant.

I think you can throw away the first one in Cleveland and this one due to supporting casts.

I hate stats like that though, even Lebron James alone doesn't win a title.

We got 3 in 8 with 5 finals appearances.

They better win another lottery soon.....

They have certainly maintained success and allowed themselves to win five titles which is great. However I feel as do many others they have never been a dominant team for any sustained period of time and have mostly been a second fiddle champion. In other words always the team you think "Wow they would have won even more titles if not for the Lakers" or whoever.

I think Parker is the most sure thing. I love Exum more then any other player. I think hes Grant Hill/Penny Hardaway rolled in to one but he might be a better scorer then either.
Say what? They havent won less then 50 games in Duncans entire career! For heavens sake the only comparable team to what theyve done is the Bill Russell era Celtics. And they would have had a few more had they not gone up against the Lakers with Shaq (only the most physically dominant big man ever), Kobe (a top 3 SG of all time), and the greatest coach in league history. They easily could have 7-8 if not for LAL but they ran in to a buzz saw. Conversely no one has had this kind of extended success in terms of consistently being a top seeded team. What theyve done is basically like what the Braves did in baseball winning their division pretty much every year except they sealed the deal a handful of times.

Now I dont know if you can point to any one of those teams as being an all time great team but man, theyve done it like no one else in this era.
