Beyond the obvious...Kyle Anderson and Shabazz Napier, both of whom could very well go in the teens...who are the other guys on Heat fans' wish lists for the first round?

I know okc's been in negotiations for shump as well. They have 21 and 29. I don't think I'd be inclined to sell low on him for 26 or 29...shump shad ups and downs but potential is there. Maybe 21+29. Phoenix has some interest as well so for a top 20 pick I'd jump obviously.

    That is ridiculous.

Pat Riley would deliver #26 on a golden platter with a complete seafood spread for Shumpert. Phil isn't that stupid.

Not sure how I'd feel about Shumpert. I'd honestly feel very bleh about it.

Most of my info is still embargoed till after the draft....

    But I can reveal this:

Heat have heavy interest in Luol Deng, and value him more than they do Trevor Ariza. The Heat feel as if Ariza will have too much competition (namely a pile of cash from Washington) and they don't wish to get in a drawn out pursue for their new 6th/7th man/ possible starter. Nick Arison will be key in recruitment of Deng, and he is the one pushing for him. They have deep ties going back to Duke. Some dominoes need to fall before it happens though.

    Those Dominos:

Heat is interested in bringing back Chalmers but they will be tough in negotiation. Don't expect a raise. Spo and Riley often clash on players, and one they will clash on is Michael Beasley. Spo wants no part of him next year, and Riley wants to give him 1 year to crack the rotation.

The Heat feel as if Greg Oden is a rotation player next year.
Omeka Okafur is looked at as a 10 minute big and a bridge/fringe performer.
They feel as if Marcin Gortat will be WELL out of their price range.

Heat will explore Kyle Lowry, but not at the expense of Luol Deng and others.

    They will touch bases with:

    Shawn Marion
    CJ Miles
    Avery Bradley
    Jodie Meeks
    Thabo Sefalosha
    Anthony Morrow

(Some of this is dependent on Ray Allen coming back or not)

That is their main target list of guys they think will be int heir price range, with Deng and Lowry being their major targets.

These guys they really like, but they feel will be overpriced:

    Andray Blatche
    Ed Davis
    Greg Monroe
Channing Frye (They REALLY Like him)
    Spencer Hawes

    Some notes....from rotoworld

    - love to GSW is dead. GSW doesn't want to deal Klay
    - rumors that Jabari Parker tanked his predraft workout with cavs
    - Duncan opting out of the last year of his deal probably for a 2 year deal
    - Philly loves Exum. Can't say I blame them. Best player IMO.
    - mavs interested in deng and Pau as well as melo.
    - Dario saric withdraws from draft; signed with euro club for 3 years
    - bucks making John Henson available in trades. Young athletic bigs are always in demand so hopefully Phil gets on that ASAP

If it ends up playing out that way, I'd be interested to see how Exum and Carter-Williams would play together. If they do pick Exum, they need to find a shooter because neither of them are great shooters right now.

Glad he's back. I'm not a defeatist fan who wants a team we "Match Up Well" with in the finals. Spurs are still the class of the West and if Miami is able to make it to the finals again they are who I want to see.

They could trade MCW. 76ers will pick Exum...you can bank on it. Their coach Brett Brown had coached in the Australian league and for the national team for over a decade. He still currently coaches the Australian national team. It's a sure thing.

You could be right. Over the last couple years, I've come to expect the unexpected with Hinkie. I never saw the Holiday trade coming last year, so we'll just wait and see what happens on Thursday.

They could also try to develop Exum's jump shot. I don't see why they couldn't so he can play SG. You got the 10th pick as well. I think that's most important and you need to hit on that.

Up until Embiid's injury, I was expecting them to get Wiggins/Parker at 3 and Stauskas at 10. Now they'll likely have to move up to get 1 of the 2.

Even though they were terrible this year, it's nice to see the Sixers finally have a plan. For so many years the previous regime would just patch together a team to get the 7/8 seed. Now they're going to get some good young talent to build around.

Why did he opt-out so early? Didn't need to do anything till the 30th. Do the Heat need him off the books to make moves before he re-signs?

Just wondered if opting-out opened up any cap flexibility before the draft or if a team still has a cap hold on a player that uses an ETO.

No, there's no hidden bonus to exercising an opt out six days before its deadline.

He opted out 2 days before a day when a ton of player movement and trades normally happens. The Heat are close to the cap limit and it's going to take a lot of smaller moves to open up space for them to improve the team. I was simply asking if this opt-out was one of those. Thank you for answering with as much snark as possible, though. I've certainly been put in my place.

I think it's just exercising leverage to make sure the Heat spend.

Also puts pressure on Wade and Bosh to do the same
