I see no mention of defense here. Rightly so.

By the way, aren't the Heat trying to get younger?

We aren't trying to get younger we are trying to put ourselves in the best position to win each year. Of course some more youth is nice but we will always have room for guys like Ray Allen and Pau Gasol on the roster.

@EthanJSkolnick 37s A few days ago, someone tied to Heat org told me Riley would outdo 2010. Still not sure how. But now doubting it less.

Given Woj's lack of Heat inside sources, the full max figures he's reporting are likely what LeBron is asking of other teams.

He's bringing in Godzilla to play Center to move Bosh back to Power forward. I'm also guessing he's bringing in Voltron for some energy off the bench.

Hmm Lebrons contract could end up being tricky if he really wants max money he clearly deserves it. However I dunno under the current cba and with how key the 3 ball is in today's nba. If you can even win a title paying someone a true max deal. I still feel like the bulls and knicks were handcuffed so bad from the boozer amare deals. Now you got the lakers with kobes awful deal. At the same time you cant not give Lebron the money if he wants it so should be fun for the heat to work that out.

LeBron can't get 6/$130m. I think the best he can get is from Miami 5/$115m or from other teams 4/$85.5m. Either way he'll get 20-21m per yr but it'll be 5 years with Miami so he'll be crazy not to re-sign.

So why so much focus on Lowry for the Heat? Wouldn't Gortat free Bosh up to go back to being a scorer? If Bosh goes back to being a 20 and 10 dude while Gortat manages the paint you'd think that would solve a lot of problems.

Or would that screw up the small-ball focus too much?

My WAG is that in a league where perimeter play is so important the sub-par play at G was seen as the bigger factor in the finals failure. Yes, the team should look for upgrades at both PG and C, but Lowry is probably the only guy available who would be a clear upgrade to Chalmers. There aren't many great Cs in the league anymore so the Heat could be good enough there with a return of Anderson, Haslem and Oden and mid-level rebounding body. I don't personally see Lowry as likely, but he's the only guy I see available that would fit the description of "Riley would outdo 2010".

An interesting name that Barry Jackson has brought up a couple times is Paul Pierce. I despise the guy and he doesn't fit the MO of getting younger, but I think he would actually be a great fit. He can spread the floor with his shooting, would give the Heat a legit scorer off the bench, and he is a solid defender. Plus, it might make KG's head explode which would be awesome.

Don't like Pierce but would take him. With Kidd leaving, him aging and no guarantee of ever beating us he may decide joining us is a good option.

Garnett I'd never take. He can go screw himself and I hope it happens and his head does explode

Can't say I'd be thrilled with the idea of Pierce here except for the part where KG's head explodes. That might be worth it by itself.

The other name that's been making the rounds is Bledsoe. As a 4 year player his max deal would be about $15 mil per and he's apparently friends with Lebron. The problem is that if he signs an offer sheet they can match and the money would tied up while that process played itself out.

Well it would depend on the money honestly. Pierce can still shoot, play good defense and has some athleticism still left in him. 80% of my reasoning is to see KG have his head explode though I admit.

Wow Bledsoe would be a HUGE win for us.

Pierce and the Big 3 do not like each other. Pierce is not coming to the Heat. We can stop speculating on that topic right now.

Interesting funny article. Probably a lot of truth to it. Lebron should take over Riley as GM when he's done playing. He can scout talent and put a team together better than anyone. I'm stating to believe in Shabazz already.

Guy on radio just made the best point possible about Bron staying. If he leaves?? He would basically cost his friend D Wade 15-20M....since his stock has dropped opting out would've been foolish unless there was a plan in place for it. So no worries Heat fan.

Question now becomes???? The duration of James new contract.

Grain of salt but ESPN reported that Big 3 are workibg out contract details together and most teams believe they are 100% done or very close, will stay in Miami.

I'm honestly not worried about them working out details... It was preconceived from the beginning that this is how things would have to work out for them. And as much as the media wants to stir things up and wants James to fail, he's smarter than that. He makes enough money on the side... can't win championships through endorsements. Im more interested in how much they eat up and how Riley is going to fill the other 90% of the roster.

I just wish that Lebron would make his decision public on TV in Cleveland, Bosh is hibernating in Toronto, and while Wade is vacationing in Dallas, just to **** with the media dickwads.

I have no issues with LeBron getting the most money of the three, but I do not believe all this stuff about demanding the max.

Beyond the fact that it goes against everything we've seen the last 4 years, how the hell can you cry about not having enough help, and then take every last cent you can?

He's earned it, I get it, and I have no problem giving it to him in the abstract, but then don't complain that we don't have the Spurs depth or that you have to play 35-40 minutes every night

Winning fixes all of that. They didn't like Ray Allen and he didn't like the Heat, but look how that turned out. Maybe the hate wasn't quite what it is with Pierce, and it's possible that they dislike each other enough where it won't happen, but I would not rule it out. These guys are smart enough to know that old rivalries shouldn't keep you from what could be a very good fit.

I just want to see if Carmelo goes to Houston. I laid down some scratch at 5/1 on that, and used a gimme bet on LeBron staying in Miami to fund it.

With all the crap flying around with Rose's comments in Chicago, I would have to guess the odds are looking better for Houston.

This is not true. Allen is the only one of the Boston Trio to respect the Big Three and vice-versa.

Pierce and KG have not spoken to Allen since he signed with the Heat. They are ignoring his phone calls and texts. They want nothing to do with him. Suddenly, Pierce is going to pull an Allen? Yeah, right.

The latest I read, and god only knows if it's true, is that Carmelo as of right now plans on taking three free agent visits. The first will be to the Bulls, then he'll see the Rockets Wednesday morning and the Mavericks Wednesday afternoon. But the Knicks really loom over all of this because they smell to me like the favorite to retain him.

I was never that convinced that Chicago should be an overwhelming favorite to land Carmelo. When I grabbed 5/1 on Houston, it wss because Chicago was at 1/1. I probably should've grabbed the Knicks at 4/1 in addition to Houston, and that may have covered me. Oh well. To me it's free money to take a stab, because it's funded with a bet on LeBron staying in Miami which I've taken as a certainty all along.

While I'd love to see you win the money CK, I'd have bet the Knicks instead of Houston. This isn't based on any inside info, but just what I'd be thinking if I were in Melo's shoes.

Chicago- At first blush it looks like a great fit, big city, successful team that looks like it might get over the hump with just a little more offensive firepower. But, I don't trust that Rose is or ever will be healthy. If he were recruiting me then he might be able to convince me, but he isn't. And they have a coach who's rep is to play everybody into the ground. I don't know that that would be my best route at this point in my career. I also don't trust them to land FAs which may be necessary if Rose never makes it back as no big name ever seems to end up there.

Houston- Even with Harden they're a horrible defensive team and they may have to move Harden to fit me in there. Harden was already a great scorer so replacing one great scorer with another doesn't improve the team all that much. Melo is a better all-around player than Harden, but I don't see that switch getting the team over the hump. I see them as a team with flash (scoring and big names) but no real chance to contend for a title.

Dallas- I'd seriously consider Dallas in that Dirk is still good and they have some talent. They have a defensive minded coach who did enough against the Heat a few years back and gave San Antonio all they could handle this year. I could believe that there was a short window there where my talent would get the team over the hump. And I seem to like being recruited so I can possibly use the short window to do it all one more time.

NY- In the end, I'd probably stay here and bank on Phil Jackson doing something in 2015. I'd get the most cash, years even if I took say a million or two less to help out the team. I might even sign a shorter deal if I didn't have enough faith in Jackson. I wouldn't have to uproot my family and I would be seen as a bit less mercenary and maybe more as somewhat loyal. And I'd take a page from Wade's book and I'd start recruiting a guy like Love or whomever I want behind the scenes for next season.
