Or let's face reality head on.

Athletes use PED's to be the best they can be. And not using PED's puts you at a tremendous disadvantage. The NFL is a full contact sport where being the biggest and strongest is paramount. Anyone who thinks that 90%+ of the players in the NFL aren't on some PED is kidding themselves. There are millions of dollars at stake. A 22 year old kid coming into the league is a boy among men as it is, nevermind the chemical disadvantage. Young players need to get bigger and stronger in a short period of time to keep up.

It's not possible to add muscle at a certain point. Or it's very slow going. The average person (I understand athletes in pro sports are genetically elite, but my point still stands) who is untrained can add 12-24 lbs of muscle in a year. After that year, it drops to 6-12 for the next year. 3-6lbs the third. 1-2 lbs in the fourth. Variables such as genetics, age, etc... all factor in too.

So what do you do if you're 22 years old and need to gain 10-15 of muscle and you're nearing your genetic limit and the gains are slow going? PED's... The holier than thou attitude some fans about PED's is hilarious. They're never going away. Thus the demand will always be there for every top athlete. Rinse and repeat.

Dion Jordan is just another kid in the NFL trying to make it. Doing what he has to. Doing what everyone else is. Especially as far as lineman and linebackers go... His real mistake was getting caught. Dumb.

    Right...dumb yes...

But an " idiot, or a loser", or " no more respect"... I think that's too much to call someone who has endured what this dude has endured.

The kid may of been pushing himself to the max, overboard for his team...and yet most crucify him for taking a pill that can get him thru a fu&8in workout..

I'm with you. In the grand scheme of things, 4 games isn't a big deal. He has a bright future, IMO.

    Totally agree.
But the question remains, does he have that bright future with the Dolphins?

I would hate to see it but my gut feeling sees him get tradet sooner or later and become a monster somewhere else.

At the start, I thought it was a bad news that reflected bad on Dj, but after reading the thread, I understand that:

I am a stupid cry baby, to think that. Knee jerk, too. and dumb, don't forget dumb. ah, also a moron, right.

It is actually a good thing - or at least a neutral one - because the Broncos and the Seahakws did it too..... our future is quite rose, then.

It doesn't reflect bad on DJ, at all! I mean, every player in the NFL does it....

and try putting yourself in the shoes of a 6'66'' freak of nature with a big guaranteed contract?! it is not so easy try to handle the pressure, to stay clean and don't do dumb things.... (and thank god he wasn't a shelby or someone like that, a UFA, a low draft pick then.... someone that can be cut and ending on the street....immagine the pressure for them....)

ah, and blaming the GM who trade up to get him it is also very stupid and silly.
it was a good idea, the reality untill now proves it: a very bad rookie year (but maybe it was a very good rookie year, I am not sure, I wouldn't want to be any more dumb or silly, thinking this way about the 3rd pick) and now this.
it is clear that the man who got him for us has not a responsability at all and we should thank him.

as I said it before, at first , as a fan, I was depressed and unhappy with this news, but now I feel much better, almost relaxed, you know?

soory for the dumb rant, but I don't get it how we should be neutral or indifferent to this development

IMO, it is a bad news, from every angle. and yes, maybe he had his reason (the pressure, the will to win, etc etc), but... who doesn't? the problem it is not the reason, it is the actual fact.... 4 games suspension for our high draft pick after a very disappointing rookie season..... I don't see how we should be.... indifferent to that... or patting our back because other teams (with slightly more talent than us) did it too... or hugging him like is not a big deal... or scolding the fans who are very angry and disappointed

I don't know near as much detail as the insiders, but from what I've researched, man, tough kid..had to be mentally strong...honestly, from when he was young, seems a bit sad...I rooted for him coming out because of what he's been thru, but who knows ya know, all that sh&@ may of stuck with him and he may just flip out, and I wouldn't blame him.

Stimulant is bull****!!He is on test or tren or some other steroid.15 lbs of muscle in a few months is juice. My guess is 75% of league is juicing and I don't dont have a problem with him doing it but be smart enough not to get caught.
He just made our game with the pats a whole lot harder by being stupid.

Juice is is all over in college as well especially if they might have a chance to go pro. Heck high schoolers took it if they thought they could play at college, especially when superdrol was legal and 17 year olds were buying it at GNC. Really can't judge DJ here, he knew the risks and apparently lost 800k. However, if he failed for adderall, that is pretty stupid. He could've easily gotten a prescription and I assume they can't suspend you if you are prescribed. But then again, you can also be prescribed steroids and idk the nfls rules on that.

I'm trying to have SOME reaction to this news, but I just can't. I don't care. Jordan is likely going to be a bust for where he was drafted. It's not as big a deal as some people think in that we really didn't give up that much to move up---it was a horrible deal by the Raiders. But it was a poor choice at that spot. I thought so at the time and I think so even more now.
But who cares? We waste high draft picks all the time. It's why we're stuck in perpetual mediocrity, along with bad coaching.
Maybe Jordan will come back and contribute after his suspension, maybe he won't. It's a position of depth so it's not crucial he does. Frankly, I see him being traded for like a third rounder in the next off-season.

well, at least he didn't show he was worthy of the #3 pick before being suspended... I can't say that with a straight face. Expectations coming into this season... the Pouncey thing... now this... terribly ironic that Lane Johnson is also serving a four game suspension isn't it?

It's an interesting coincidence. Primary difference being Lane Johnson was part of the best OL in football a year ago, played over a thousand snaps, was legitimately good by the second half of the season, and will be starting and playing 100% snaps for the 12 games in which he's not suspended. Dion Jordan gave us a few hundred snaps as a sub, played...meh...gave us one sack...and god only knows what the interruption of the four game suspension will do to his playing time schedule during the other 12 games, since they seem so enamored with Olivier Vernon.

Looking at the schedule it's NE up first, they'll also be w/o a key defender for four games due to suspension and who knows how healthy Gronk will be for week 1. Buffalo just lost their DROY Alonso for the season, and who's afraid of big bad EJ Manuel? Ditto for KC and Oakland, Smith and Schaub strike fear into the hearts of no one except for their own fans.

Josh Gordon, Daryl Washington, and Sean Lee are also out for the year so Miami isn't the only team to have offseason setbacks.

Not sure how we can write off Buffalo when they swept us last year. Don't get me wrong, I feel like we've improved to the point that we should match up better with them this year, but still....swept.

He's got the #3/nickel DE spot locked up, I see no reason why his post suspension playing time would be affected. Now if he was trying to make a run at a starting spot ahead of Vernon then yeah he's screwed but I'm not sure that was a realistic possibility anyway.

We lost to Buffalo twice bc we couldn't block their front four. Assuming our OL isn't total garbage again and the games aren't played in high winds and freezing rain, Buffalo becomes a team we should handle relatively easily.

After the bye it's Rodgers, Cutler, Manning, Stafford, Flacco, Rivers, Brady in fairly rapid succession, that's when we'll need the pass rush to be 100%.

And Kiko was definitely a secret warrior against us in both games. I think buff is going to miss him dearly. I still expect us to struggle but their defense took a huge blow without him.

Yep. Losing Alonso is gonna hurt them badly, especially in coverage bc Spikes may have to stay on the field more and he can't cover any friggin body. They'll still have a good D but not good enough to cover for their offense.

I still shake my head at that first game last season, exhibit A on how to lose a game to an inferior opponent.

Lane Johnson also had the advantage of not having an injury require surgery. Dion Jordan played well when he had some opportunities and did so without the off-season work. If Miami took LJ @ 3, Lane Johnson's four game suspension, coupled with Pouncey's injury, would have crippled the oline going into 2014.

I find it extremely difficult to have any sympathy for Jordan or any other player who has to resort to taking banned substances in order to do their job.

NFL players receive salaries which put them in the top 1% of all wage earners in America. They are suppose to be top athletes who shouldn't let a little fatigue cause them to take drugs.

If you want to have sympathy for someone who has to work two or three jobs just to put food on the table for his or her family and pay all the bills. That is an acceptable reason to excuse someone who might need a pick me up to get through the day.

NFL players have the shortest season of any of the major sports. They have plenty of time off to give their bodies rest from the season and to train for the next season. If a player can't take the fatigue without resorting to taking a banned substance. Perhaps that player isn't fit to play in the NFL in the first place.

Last year his excuse was he was injured and that is why he had such a mediocre season. Now we are suppose to feel sorry for him and forgive him for using a banned substance just because he might have been a little too tired to work out.

Sorry but I just see him as a mediocre player who feels like he needs to use drugs in an attempt to compete in the NFL. The sooner the Dolphins trade him for a third or fourth round draft pick, the better, IMO.

So it's okay for the guy who had kids before he was financially stable to take drugs, which can lead to addiction and considering his money is already scarce, probably a bad idea. Hopefully he doesn't get drug tested at work and fails, making his family homeless and a product of the cyclical system the 1% funds.

Sorry DJ the athlete's no longer get a pass from this stuff. The public is no longer buying the "I thought it was a B-12 shot" exvuse. Athlete's, all of them need to know ALL of the things they are taking into their bodies. No one is naïve enough to believe the crap arguments any more.

It starts with the ownership, and I just believe that Steven Ross isn't as dedicated an owner as we need in this organization. Owning the Dolphins to him is a play toy he can buy with his money. He doesn't live and breathe football, it's a weekend distraction (or supposed to be he thought) and he's not good at being an absentee owner. Some people can get away with it, because they hire competent people to over see the operations when they are not here. Obviously Ross has missed the boat on that one so far. He's fired one CEO (Dee) and one GM (Douchbag Jeffy) and one head coach (Meatball) all in 4 years of ownership. He had a series of failed and or baffling searches for head coaches, and GM's that looked rather amateurish considering his supposed "business acumen". Also his failed "stadium renovations plan" that he's now going to pay for himself - he wasted 4 years and lost out on at least 1 Super Bowl, and 1 NCAA College Championship (probably at least $ 75 to 100 million in lost revenue for him) because of his idiocy.

What we need is a new ownership that comes into their management with a bold vision and plan for the future with the Miami Dolphins as one of their priorities and not as a weekend play toy.

If it was a steroid, which no one can prove, they don't make muscles grow just by their mere presence in the system. The user still has to work his *** off. Steroids speed the recovery time.

I do not have any irrefutable proof it wasn't a stimulant, so since it does not hurt me in any way to take him at his word, I'll just believe him.

I NEVER said it was okay for anyone to take drugs. I merely stated I could understand someone who works two or three jobs trying to support a family possible using a supplement as a pick me work in an attempt to
to work all those jobs during a week. There are legal supplements that you can purchase which help you stay awake and gives you more energy during the day.

Since I don't drink or use drugs at all, I have never understood why anyone needs to use alcohol or illegal drugs for anything.
