Yeah well I guess Ireland didn't have his crystal ball available last year. All he had was the league's worst WR corps and a chance to acquire one of the leagues best AVAILABLE receivers. How bout if Hickey held back signing Albert this year on the off chance that Joe Thomas wants a trade next year...
Johnny Manziel is a player favorite. Especially since he's yet to fail. Players love guys who play like Manziel does. I don't see Andre Johnson being unwilling to make a go of playing with Manziel. And I certainly don't see the Browns thinking they're not going to compete now anyway so why bother adding talent. They're losing Josh Gordon for the year. It's important to give your rookie QB the opportunity showcase his talent, rather than be buried on the field.
Who wouldn't love this guy on their team? I don't see us being a team in the running but damn he would become the best player on the team instantly if we acquired him. It doesn't seem like a good fit for either side so I would think we aren't considering the move and I think he would have issues coming here as well. I wouldn't be surprised if a team like the Redskins or Patriots tries to get him though. I don't see the Texans moving him even if he wants to get traded, unless someone overpays for him.
Fascinating. Does not this statement about the player being a crybaby because of wishing to win a ring in reality make the writer calling the player a crybaby actually a bigger crybaby himself because the person who wishes to win the ring does not purportedly wish to be traded to this team, which, as we saw following the last two games of last season made crybabies of a lot of posters? I mean, why would one willingly subject him or herself to continued or greater misery by moving from one bad spot to what is perceived another bad spot when the possibility exists to be traded to a team with a more obvious chance of winning the ring than this place - unless one is a masochist? Hmmmm?
Except Johnny Manziel isn't sniffing the field. Brian Hoyer is a better QB at this moment. Johnny is the future, let Hoyer suffer the present pains of a Gordon-less Browns team. A year on the bench will do Johnny good. He needs more discipline in his footwork and mechanics. Anything he learns will be thrown to the wayside as soon as he's under duress if he hasn't built a solid foundation. Then again, given the fact that he's a drunk and a coke head, I'm not too sure he would take the opportunity to sit and learn seriously anyway. Bottom line, AJ to Cleveland isn't a good deal for either side. AJ doesn't make Cleveland contenders and just eats up valuable salary cap. And once again, it doesn't benefit Houston to deal him.
Ill have two of whatever you're drinking Chris Paul Kruger has already come out publicly in favor of Hoyer. The HC has basically named Hoyer the starter already. The closest thing to Manziel in the NFL today is Ryan Fitzpatrick, the QB that Dre is dying to get away from. And Cleveland already landed a pretty big fish, no?
You inherently overpay in free agency, but there are very few combinations of cap ramifications/performance that are as rancid as Mike Wallace is right now. Sam Bradford edges him out, but I don't think there's as clear a #3 and whoever it is isn't even close to the combination of multiple years of performance and cost of those two.
Thats ridiculous. Mario Williams comes to mind, and at least a dozen others if I really wanted to take the time. But I'll just chalk it up to you not liking Wallace, nothing new there. Like I told String, enjoy it while it lasts.
Flacco is a proven championship Qb.. I find it funny this offseason hearing reports from his new offensive coordinator that he's more mobile then he thought...lol
Agreed about Flacco. With QB's, you either pay through the nose or you start over again. Baltimore was in a tough spot, so I get the decision. Brandon Carr is playing in the wrong defense. Same for Claiborne. Jerry Jones went out and spent big money on DB's and then hired Kiffen to make them play cover 2... Carr isn't utilized correctly, I don't think he's a bad player. Same for Mike Wallace. If Wallace is put in position to utilize his skill set, he'll be more successful. I don't know if he'll ever justify that contract, so I don't expect him to be around longer than three years.
Sometimes overpaying in free agency is a necessary evil. The Mike Wallace contract sucks but when you're desperate for play makers like we were last offseason you have to bite the bullet. With that said, I still think Wallace can be a major factor for us offensively. If him and Tannehill can connect on some of the deep balls they misfired on last year I'd be willing to bet no one would care about his contract.
we always have to care because it has a lot todo with how you build a team. I'm good with him right now because without him we have no chance, I think with his ability to engage two defenders consciousness, I think he may just earn a good part of that contract, there is no price tag on a guy that can occupy two people, legitimately,I think if Lazor can design the offense to clear out that middle and let Clay and Landry control the middle of the field, and ryan can actually see a lane and run thru it, we might have an offense that can be middle of the pack..and with our defense, which is an improved unit, we should be better, that's if this team is still listening to Philbin.
Gotta disagree here. Teams are forced into biting the bullet when they haven't done their job correctly. It's the last act of desperation to make up for their poor talent evaluation and team building skills. Even after trading Brandon Marshall, Miami drafted Tannehill 8th overall and passed over playmakers, refusing to build an offense around him. Contrast that with Indianapolis, who drafted Luck, Fleener, Allen, and Hilton in the same draft, consecutively. Miami paid the price for neglect. Just as we have before at the QB position for over a decade. How many 2nd round picks have we traded/used? How much cash given away? We bit that bullet because we neglected to draft talented QB's when given the chance (Brees, Rodgers, Ryan). Ireland bit the bullet on Richie Incognito because he was desperate. His job was on the line. These are the failures of desperation. F.A. at it's best is signing guys like Randy Starks. Young talented kids, who've shown promise, and can be had for a price that won't be detrimental. What we've done over the last two years is an issue. We could of gotten away with one big spending spree, especially since the deals were structured in a way that could be short term, but then we went ahead and did it again. Giving Brandon Albert a monstrous contract that he doesn't deserve because Miami failed to see the issues with the offensive line last season. Add in the Jake Long fiasco and we're back to biting the bullet. And it's not just a front office issue. It starts with ownership. The lack of vision from the top (Not just Ross, Wayne too) has hurt us for a long time. Hell, we can go back to 92 and Shula. Shula spent tons of money to cover up his failures as a personnel man from the late 80's onward. Really, Jimmy was the only one who had the right idea with somewhat solid execution (defensively, at least).
