Oh god, the Heat are going in reverse, instead of getting Lebron and giving away Beasley we lost Lebron and are probably keeping Beasley, good grief, my heart is too weak.
One thing is certain; if Erik Spoelstra is going to transition to this brave new world, he will HAVE TO unclench the sphincter when it comes to Defense. It IS NOT the be-all and end-all of a player's value nor production.
I'm just disappointed with Lebron jerking us around instead of being straight up with Riley so we could have made the right moves instead of being in panic mode.
He's never been a max player. Hes not even close to guys like Durant and Lebron. Is he a really good player? Yeah. Max player? No way. If he's your best player you're a 6-8 seed and out in the first round.
Phoenix going to be really nice this coming season, The 76ers will be in two years after they tank this year, three tanked draftees in a three year span, that is going to be one sexy team.
NBA...LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL Fools
I disagree. Bosh was a 21/10 guy playing the 4. Just look at the offer sheet Chandler Parsons managed on stats similar to what Bosh has put up with Miami, let alone in Toronto.
Why? Who wouldn't understand them taking a hit for a year or two and building longterm. I think they are making panic decisions, I mean Bosh's deal is crazy.
Bosh staying in Miami makes us playoff contenders, all we need is some pieces and we will be okay, Bosh can be the man now.
So it wasnt crazy for Houston to offer him the max but it's crazy for us? You underestimate Bosh. As a #1 option he is a 20/10 guy.
Chandler's deal was crazy too. I understand the NBA gives out ridiculous contracts but the really good teams don't do that. You think San Antonio would have even considered Parson's or Bosh's deal even if they had cap room? Nope, no way. Desperate teams make desperate deals and it almost always backfires.
Maybe, but has any team ever won anything with him putting up 20/10? If he's your best player you stink, thats not a max player. I like Bosh, I'm not saying he's a bum at all but if he wouldnt accept a reasonable contract I'd thank him for his time and wish him the best losing in the first round in Houston every year beside Dwight and Harden.
LeBron and Durant aren't the only max players in the league. Gordon Hayward was just given a max contract.
The Heat should use their future draft pick to claim Zaire Wade when he enters the draft in 15 years.
IMO no. Melo can't make a team a contender. He's not a complete player. I wouldn't give him the max. I'm crazy I guess, to me a Max player is someone that makes his team a contender, I get it that sometimes a guy is on a crappy team (Love) but in the NBA one guy can turn a franchise around. Do you see Melo turning a team around? Bosh? Nope. I'd pay Melo before Bosh though if I had a gun to my head.
Obviously you can't replace LeBron but we're going to come out of this about as well as we possibly could. Deng or Ariza are good editions. And depending how flexible Wade is we could clear more space. Need to be an attractive team in 2016. Plus we'll have a lot if short deals useful in trades
Because they can't get out of the first round with Harden and Howard. Its the only situation that I could see someone actually overpaying for him, he does actually fit in that system with Howard and Harden and they need another piece to the puzzle. He's not worth that deal but at least they are taking a shot at a title, the Heat are signing him so that they aren't a lottery team, thats not a reason to sign a max player. The Heats draft pick ironically is going to Cleveland unless they are in the lottery too....
I just don't understand why Riley isn't pushing for Gasol. It's such a fit, and if what he wants is around $6-7M, we can certainly do that to add 17/10 and a true 5.
I dont follow the logic. Its not like a max contract stops you from making other moves, it isnt a big deal. As Section said even when Wade signs we will still be able to afford ANOTHER Max contract or some smaller deals like Deng.
If they let Bosh walk, none of those players would have come here, they would have better options. Keeping Bosh, and then Wade, keeps the Contender label on the team, and makes it more attractive to pieces. Letting Bosh walk would have instantly made the Heat a rebuilding team, really without assets to rebuild. Had to be done, and the team will benefit from it.
Voice of reason here. Listen to Sumlit on this one. Wade and Bosh is probably worth between....well it depends how everything else shakes down in the East but between a #3 and #5 seed. With pieces like Deng you're instantly still fighting for a title run.
What does this have to do with anything? There are plenty of other players in free agency or available in trade that would help the Rockets get out of the first round. They focused on Bosh specifically. In fact, this is the second time they've gone after him; they offered him the max in 2010, too. Clearly, the NBA sees something that you don't.
