It would be pretty crappy of Riley to back out of those deals. And if the players do it, it might affect how other players view us...right or not

We are in a tough pickle...

I don't know what's tough about it. They aren't huge contracts and they're depth players. The whole point of having 20 million dollars available (formerly allocated to LeBron) is to spend it to improve your overall roster.

They're both good guys to come off the bench, with or without LeBron.

Although it makes me retch to think of giving Mario Chalmers $5M a season for 3 years to be inconsistent and disappear at key moments and make crucial mistakes when we can least afford them.

See what I mean about Chalmers, just hangin' around, hangin' around...BOOM! Before you know it, we're stuck with him for multiple years for what we could pay Birdman—a productive player—to come back.

Ariza to the Rockets for 32 million over four years.

I would have loved to have him at that number.

Just puts more pressure on Riley to get Deng done.

BTW, dollar-for-dollar, they turned Jeremy Lin into Trevor Ariza.

    Nice job.

Smart, given the Gilbert factor. Smarter would have been to avoid the Gilbert factor altogether.

First, I don't agree about Bosh not being a max, but that's irrelevant in terms of Bledsoe's worth b/c he's so young that his max is only about 14. That youth/potential is a big part of what I like about him. He's one of the most athletic Gs in the league. That makes him great at penetration. He's super quick and strong. He's like a running back going to the rim. I think we need guys who can get their own shot, now more than ever. He has great length with a 6'8" wingspan which helps him finish and makes him a great one on one defender and pick and roll defender when he focuses. I think he has the tools to be the best defensive PG in the league. His shot is bit inconsistent and he can lose focus both on O and D. And I don't see him as a pure passing PG. But this was only his first year starting so there's potential and I believe that Spoelstra is good at helping players round out their game.

Overall I believe PGs are more important than bigs in the league right now and I don't see any bigs available who are as good at the 5 as Bledsoe is at the 1. Monroe is the closest, but I see Bledsoe as having more superstar potential.

He wants to play with Durant, so Lebron, Durant, Bosh, and Wade on the Heat next year.

I don't care that Lebron left, I'm mad that we made roster moves to fit other players around Lebron, for that, go **** yourself Lebron, you should have just straight up said to Riley you wanted to go to Cleveland, you are a drama queen, ****ing *******.

The only argument for a 2 year contract would be the new cap in 2016. He could be free to get a bigger contract then and/or give the team flexibility to get a ton of people.

However, why the early termination option for next year?

There will be no sign and trade between Heat and cavs according to Ira.

    Ira Winderman ‏@IraHeatBeat 9m
No sign and trade for LeBron with Cavaliers. So Cleveland retains top-10 protected 2015 Heat first-rounder from first LeBron move in 2010.

What jackasses. We didn't -have- to do a sign and trade with them but we did out of good will. They can go f*** themselves.

As much as I like Bledsoe, Deng is probably the most likely signing. He's not my top target just b/c I wanted more athleticism, but I don't think it would be a bad signing depending on the numbers. He reminds me of a younger Battier. Not a great athlete, but smart and versatile. He's not a great scorer but he's consistent. He has a very versatile offensive game so he's almost never shut out. He's the guy that you can mark down for 15 pts every game. He'll never blow up and get you 40, but he'll also never crap out and give you 2. On defense he'll be the guy you put on their best scorer. For us I expect he'll replace Lebron's defense and be our third scoring option.

Mixed feelings on that. I did hear a rumor that we might sign and trade him to Charlotte, but I have no idea what Miami would get in return in that scenario.

@EthanJSkolnick 26m Always made sense 4 LeBron to free up in 2016 for TV$ reasons. Just increases sting 4 Heat that they gave up picks 4 him, get none back now.

    @EthanJSkolnick
2m For those asking, Heat did S&Ts for Bosh & LeBron in 2010 to get them extra years (as they took less at start) and to clear $ 4 Mike Miller.

McRoberts, allowing us to make him a permanent roster spot player. Which somehow helps us add others players.

NBA rules are freaky, I barely understand them and may have just butchered that.

Chalmers isn't terrible. We remember him for playing like crap right now, but he's always come through in big moments before. Not the ideal starting PG but not the worst either. Will be interesting to see him in a more traditional PG role because he's always been decent creating shots at the basket in small sample sizes.

I don't really get the hate for signing Chalmers. You can't sugarcoat how bad he was in the playoffs this year, but he's a solid PG that knows the system and has at times been very good for the Heat. He'll probably come cheap too, and with LeBron gone, players are not going to be lining up to take minimum deals to come to Miami anymore. It's not like there are a bunch of great PG options out there for the Heat that won't cost a lot of money right now.
