Yeah, let's ignore the impact of Chalmers' 802 career turnovers in six seasons. That does wonders for Defense.
That is like...2 turnovers a game That isn't bad at all. EDIT: In his career he has averaged 1.8 turnovers a game. Don't see why that is a negative.
Now that's an interesting thought. It would cut down on his turnovers and let him focus on his one occasional strength, shooting, and making it into a consistent trait. He's taller than Wade; but that would still make for a very short combination of SGs.
The guy doesn't have a turnover problem. He's only averaged 1.8 a game in his career. That is pretty much nothing.
So basically they are getting everyone back. They in essence have $20 mil of Lebron's money to play with. $10 mil went to Deng.
http://m.bleacherreport.com/article...efeated-pat-riley-presses-forward-with-reload Tremendous article by Ethan on Riley's resolve to rebuild team and his "forever men" Gives good insight into why LeBron, though maybe the best player in franchise history broke the bond and he has forfeited his right to jersey retirement, etc
That's either disingenuous as hell, or you haven't seen them side by side. It's a common joke among the writers, how Wade is listed at 6'4" but in fact is much shorter. MUCH shorter. Whereas Chalmers is all of 6'2". In any case; my point is, that's a SG rotation lacking in length. EDIT: And, between them, a liability on the floor together at hacking time with their 76.5/77.5 FT%
As several have pointed out, Chalmers is not a TO prone PG. His limitation is that he's not a guy who can get his own shot and we could use another scorer with the departure of Lebron. IMO Deng can replace Lebron's D, but not his scoring. In a very crude analysis, Lebron gave you about 27 per game. Deng will replace about 15 of that and you hope that Wade and Bosh will increase their scoring as well. If Bosh goes up from 16 back to 22 or 23 and Wade moves up 3 or 4, that gets us most of the way. It would be nice to get a little more offense from somewhere so I was hoping we could have added another offensive weapon like Bledsoe or Stephenson. We're also losing Ray Allen and his 10 or so points off the bench, but I'm hoping Ennis is able to replace that production.
RFA is a rabbit hole to nowhere. Even though Monroe is a very good player. You usually have to give a bad contract to take a player away in RFA.
those ar enot bad FG% and as said before..he measured 6'-3 3/4 without shoes at combine. He is well over 6'-4" on the court.
Not a fan of how Chalmers fits into this current mix on offense. He's just not a creator/penetrator off the dribble, and the Heat could really use that type of player right now...like...bad. Could really use some explosive or quick athletes, and Chalmers doesn't really add that. Wasn't someone saying earlier that they heard he was going to sign here and then get moved to Charlotte or something? I like his defense, but offensively I'm not sure his game fits the rest of the skillsets out there. He does have range, usually, which is good alongside Wade.
PG Chalmers SG Wade SF Deng PF Bosh C ??? Bench (no order) Ennis Napier McRoberts Granger Birdman Haslem Cole Jones Not bad at all, I like it.
I'd say insert Birdman into the starting Center role (as of now) with Oden as his primary backup. Plus Hamilton will make the team. For all the love Ennis gets...Hamilton is tearing it up just as much.
AP Interview: Bosh 'excited for the challenge' http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ap-interview-bosh-excited-challenge-193946358--nba.html
As I said before all this Lebron drama....Bosh is my favorite player on the Heat. No disrespect to Wade intended.
1- PG Chalmers 2- SG Wade 3- SF Deng 4- PF Bosh 5- C Birdman Bench: 6- 2nd PG Cole 7- 2nd SG Ennis 8- 2nd SF Granger 9- 2nd PF McBob 10- 2nd C Oden Depth 11- 3rd PG Napier 12- 3rd SG ???? 13- 3rd SF ???? 14- 3rd PF Haslem 15- 3rd C Hamilton Heat either need to get 2 SGs and slide Ennis to 2nd/3rd SF, or get 1 more SG and 1 more SF. Or get 2 more swingmen types that can man the SG and SF roles.
Birdman can't withstand the 30 MPG of a starter; his body won't hold up. If Oden weren't such an unknown quantity (to us), I'd say he could be the guy who gets the bigger shares of minutes. But we just don't know. Hamilton; I watch him and I can't describe my feeling about him except to say that he still seems awkward; like a big kid who hasn't grown into his body yet.
That's an excellent question. I could see Wade playing the 1 while Lance plays the 2. And Lance, being younger, playing when Wade is off the floor. Getting more minutes than Wade. I hope we have to solve that "problem" soon.
Starting guard. He and Wade would share creating duties. Wade can run an offense, and Stephenson can too, even if he goes crazy sometimes.
Oden went through all of our workouts, practices, and so forth the entire time he was here without setback. From what I've heard most are thinking he can be around a 15 MPG player. I'm actually expecting good things from him. I'd like us to sign Emeka but obviously my post was based on what we have at this moment. We won't play with no center on the floor.
Btw, looking at that theoretical second unit I put in the above post, that is an incredibly solid 2nd unit, assuming both Oden and Granger are healthy. PG Cole/Napier SG Ennis SF Grannger PF McBob C Oden. That is a very very solid bench rotation. Can both score and defend.
