When Section made his report a few night before the decision and I got mocked for saying what I thought, it turned out to be true. Lebron was NOT going to be the villain again. Not making the decision then allowing the media sh*tstorm to say Cleveland was in the running was a clear indication that he made up his mind when he opted out. Don't tell me he was waiting on Riley to build the roster. That's a load of BS. The guy has taken heat and anger for 4 years from nearly all angles and there was never any way in hell he was going to string Cleveland along a second time. While I think his decision makes sense from a PR perspective, especially since he is so worried about what people think, the least he could have done was inform Riley and the team of his intentions immediately, rather than string them along and hurt the teams bargaining and FA strategy.
Nobody is interested in Evan Turner? I mean, you can get this guy for the minimum. We at least considered swapping Haslem for him. I know we had fun at his expense during the playoffs but for the minimum? Come on.
I guess its possible he could flourish in a structured system with good coaching. For the minimum at this point maybe. I'd also look at Janeer Nelson with more time for Chalmers at SG.
Yeah...I'm not surprised about James Jones. Barry Jackson wrote that Jones would return to the Heat if LeBron James re-signed with the Heat. I thought that was alluding to some sort of buddy system LeBron is in. I think LeBron has this mentality of needing a circle of peers. Shuttlesworth might be next or he could retire.
I always root for guys that fall off the face of the Earth given they have good character. It's one reason I'm such a big fan of Oden. Though I know nothing of Turner off the court.
IMO we REALLY need a SG off the bench. I am not comfortable with Chalmers playing SG in spots during games. There are guys who can spread the floor, spot shoot, run off picks, slash the paint but I another SG who can create his own shot is missing.
best available guards Ray Allen 9.6 ppg at .442% in 27 min Mo Williams 9.7 ppg at .417% in 25 min Evan Turner 7.1 at 0.417% in 21 min Jameer Nelson 12 at .394 in 32 min Jordan Crawford 8.4 at .417 in 16 min. (6'4") John Salmons 5 at .368 in 21 min. Xavier Henry 10 at .417 in 21 min. (6'6")
At this point I'd offer Nelson the minimum and slide Chalmers to the third SG spot in situations and extend an offer to either Turner, Williams or Crawford to be a backup.
Of course it is. He was a walking corpse two years ago. You..did not just post this. NOBODY has EVER gone to cleveland and never will.
Would love Ray to give LeBron the finger and sign back with Miami for another season. He could play until hes 57.
Cleveland will rain 3s. There is no impetus to Bron doing what he wants. There is no need to accomodate Wade or Bosh or Spo. He will be dishing it out to beyond 3 and playing whoever he wants. He will play a 4 on D and have 3 pt shooters space the floor on O. He can play Miller, Kyrie and Jones, shooting .450 all season. Heat shot 3's at 28% of FGs. Cleveland may eclipse that.
Chalmers/Ennis/Granger/Deng/Bosh/Cole/McRoberts All are fairly strong three point shooters to varying degrees. You'd think we need another shooter over a guy with athleticism who can create a shot? Not disagreeing just genuinely asking.
I highly, and I mean HIGHLY doubt ANY heat fan is forgetting how great bron is. What a ridiculous thing to say. But If you think he's going to that injury-prone kindergarden and building championship caliber cohesion in 1 offseason then hey, power to you. Maybe 2016 and beyond it will be something to discuss, but until then, I just don't see it. It's still Cleveland. I loved the guy and respected him as the G.O.A.T. here. However, it's far from ridiculous to say he MAY have surrendered part of, if not ALL of that title. It's not like this is his first time playing there. How about give it a season and see if the glue/popsicle sticks hold together for the cavs before you crown them finals contenders. Since it's soooo crazy, I'll have cash on the table for anyone who thinks the cavs will be going to the finals next season. That is just too easy of a bet. Top 4 seed? sure. Don't see Finals happening
Im glad Heat are playing Johnson at PG. He is doing well. Team looks very good without Napier hogging and chucking.
Yeah, I agree. But no way a Spriley team carries four rookies. Maybe stash him in Australia, like Ennis? I'm starting to think trading Napier is a possibility. Gut feeling.
I recall Section saying the Heat were interested in Rodney Stuckey I think. Not sure is the interest is still there. James Anderson from the 76ers intrigues me and could be worth a look.
Napier, Ennis and? Is Hamilton considered a rookie? He's been around a while. Regardless I do doubt he can gain a roster spot even though I think it would be great for his development. If we could keep him in the D-League or overseas it may pay dividends.
Great win. Looking fwd to playing the Wiz. I like Drew and Nunnully best to come up as bench players, they are solid and play within the role.
Looks weak defensively, and gets careless, doesn't stay within role, forces things at times. He can use a year in D league.
I would say he looks average defensively not weak exactly. He generally stays in front of his man and contests shots by closing out hard. I agree though he needs some coaching and experience on that side.
