Oh don't get me wrong: I *loved* the rest of the movie. The ending just left me a little flat.

SNOWPIERCER: You must see this. It's as if Terry Gilliam and John Woo had a cinematic love child.

Last movie I saw in the theater was Edge of Tomorrow. Great sci-fi action flick with good acting, a great story and awesome humor.

Just saw "Deliver Us From Evil."

Good movie, overall, but I felt the "supernatural" arc could have been left out completely and the movie would still make sense...

Kinda reminded me of a weak version of "Se7en" but with "real" demons...

Also depends where you live. When my wife and I went to the movies, we spent about $22 for us, large popcorn and a soda each.

Digital coupons are very helpful, too...

looking at IMDb's "Top 250" list.

    1. Shawshank Redemption, 9.2
    2. Godfather, 9.2
    3. Godfather Part 2, 9.0
    4. The Dark Knight, 8.9
    5. Pulp Fiction, 8.9

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is 15th BTW. It should be on everyone's watch list who hasn't seen it.

Some poor bastard brought his entire family to see Transformers 4 on opening weekend. Wife, 4 kids, infant, and his/her mother. I was angry he brought an infant to an 8:30 pm showing, but I felt sorry once I realized how much coin he had to drop to make it happen.

Transformers 4 was mediocre and too long. Don't recommend. I don't know how Michael Bay could make a boring movie with explosions and robot dinosaurs, but he succeeded.

I did see Edge of Tomorrow last weekend and I was very pleased with it. I heard good things about it it delivered. It should have been called A Million Ways for Tom Cruise to Die. The ending was Hollywood, and I was only dissapointed because I've read the source material it was based on. It was nice to see the nods throughout the movie. I know Tom Cruise isn't the biggest star anymore, but at least he is bringing new sci-fi IPs to the big screen that aren't terrible. I liked Oblivion, and Jack Reacher wasn't bad either, even if it wasn't sci-fi.

Tom Cruise is a whackadoodle personally, for sure, but I can usually count on being entertained by most every movie he's in.

    two movies...

The Way Way Back... good movie.. loved Sam Rockwell in this one. Was expecting something else, but was surprised at something better.

The Purge... Cersei is in it.. great premise, about a future time where 12 hours on a yearly basis, you get to do what you want, kill whomever you want without penalty... but it was poorly executed. Sequel coming out this weekend though lol

    anyone get around to watching my prior sci-fi/thriller/horror recommendation, Timecrimes? {it's a 7.2 rating on IMDb BTW}
First time writer/director Nacho Vigalondo won 9 awards for this little slice of fun, plus nominated for an additional 5.
Again though, it spoils it to read a review or summary first, so just watch it.

    What about the crazy horror/thriller/drama Martyrs? {7.1 rating on IMDb}
It won 2 Fangoria Chainsaw Awards for Best Screen Play & Best Actress..... and was nominated for 3 other awards: Best Limited Release Film, Best supporting Actress, and Best Makeup. OUTSTANDING flick for that genre. Definitely transcendent. Not often do you find a horror film that pulls at your strings and hits on emotion.

The Purge : Could have done a lot with the premise. Really didn't. An ok popcorn flick I guess.
The Conjuring: Good horror movie ( coming from a guy who hates most horror movies). Lots of good suspense and I thought, pretty good acting. I liked that it was scary without all the lame pop ups and such.
Out of the Furnace: Really, really enjoyed this one. Seems like it could have/ should have been longer, but I enjoyed the main themes and such and the acting from all is pretty ****ing outstanding. Highly recommended.

Tried to watch TC based off your recommendation. Turned it off after 20 mins.

I hated the lead character and couldn't take the terrible acting from everyone. Once the chick in the woods died and he started running around and doing stupid **** like climbing into a weird 70's clamshell thing full of a spermy looking goo cause the weird guy told him it was a great place to hide, I killed it. Hoping you were drunk when you watched it. lol...

Did watch the old Aussie movie "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert". It was pretty good. Hugo Weaving, Terrence Knox, and Guy Pierce in drag. Hysterical.

perhaps you were drunk when you watched it. It's not a 7.2 rating, awarded, and with a cult following for nothing. And you turned it off before it really got good. Wait, tell me you didn't watch it dubbed.

No, haven't seen Priscilla..... but with Pierce in drag I can see its appeal to you. :shifty:

Yes, it was dubbed... and yes, the voices were annoying as f**k, but the lead character and the actions of everyone were just goofy. It was like the old horror flicks where the characters do stupid s**t over and over... the tub of goo and the scenes leading up to it and right after it were just too much to keep me interested in it.

If you like Pierce, check out "Momento" with him in it. Pretty good and has an 8.5 rating on IMDB... and trust me, PQOTD is the much better and more entertaining movie than that spanish scifi flick. lol... Also, check out "The Limey" with Terence Stamp and Peter Fonda.

That's why dude. You can't watch Timecrims dubbed.... and if you watched the whole movie you'd understand why the characters do stupid sh** over and over. There's no movie if that doesn't happen in the beginning. There were also very specific reasons for the tub of goo and the scenes leading up to it and after it. Anywho, go f*** yourself. lol.

You cant watch Martyrs dubbed either..... just as it's stupid to watch Brotherhood of the Wolf or Pan's Labyrinth dubbed. Shame on anyone who hasn't seen those BTW.

I've seen The Limey and Memento. Both impressive flicks I agree. I'm merely offering a few-off-the-wall films of genres that often fail to deliver and that most people probably wouldn't have checked out otherwise.

    WTF is PQOTD?

If anyone is in the mood for another off-the-wall fun and creepy horror/thriller that's also somewhat genre transcending and with some humor elements, Sheitan (Satan) with Vincent Cassel does the trick. Cassel is brilliant and oober creepy.... and also plays a female part in the movie too.

It's yet another of France's great horror flicks of the past decade, joining the likes of High Tension, Martyrs, Frontier, Inside, and Trouble Every Day...... and it's another film where the subtitles don't diminish the quality or enjoyability of it. I've seen most of the mainstream stuff of the past 20 years so I look forward to catching these less familiar gems.
