If it happens I think the Orioles are a lock to make the playoffs. Hopefully it's for Gausman or Hunter Harvey.

Seeeeee ya Doubront. Hope Theo and Jed enjoy you showing up to spring training out of shape and going 3-2 to every hitter. But seriously thanks for the 2013 World Series, you were nails in Game 4 and 5.

Got to love the MLB Trade deadline, there's nothing in sports like it. Love how one writer tweets a deal is close and 5 seconds later another tweets the two teams aren't talking, then a third says they are talking but they're not close, then a 4th says they are talking but aren't but might have to get a third team involved....

    Love it!

Very Doubtful he would stay there. Cant see trading a top prospect like a Bundy for a 2 month rental.

Alex Speier is reporting Lester and Gomes to the A's for Cespedes.

What a trade for the Sox.

They might still be able to re-sign Lester and get Cespedes.

If they re-sign Lester then yes the trade is a no brainer. However apparently Cespedes is a FA after the 2015 season, although people are saying he's a FA after 2017. If the Sox have control of him for 3 more years its a good deal, if it's just 1 year then I don't know.

I have to assume this was the best deal out there for Lester. Wonder what TB thinks about holding on to Price now, as his trade value decreases by the day.

Might as well trade Lackey next too as his trade value will never be higher. Andrew Miller, Stephen Drew, Mike Carp too. And I still don't know why the Sox aren't thinking about trading Koji too. I'd trade them all at this point.

Ok deal for the Sox, great deal for the A's. I would have liked a young stud, but looks like that wasn't happening, at least Cespesdes hits HR, but his OBP is awful. Can't wait to see the arm from LF.

Seriously they had a poll I couldn't believe people want to keep guys at such a high %. Fire sale, everyone's ready to go.

Sox badly need power bats so they can probably live with the poor OBP. Between Cespesdes, JBJ and Victorino runners will have to think twice trying to take an extra base.

His deal is only through 15', I remember it being a 4 year deal. That will be great to watch and the Sox desperately need MLB ready power.

Yeah, I think the Sox are going to make a legit run at Stanton in the offseason too. They certainly have the prospects and the money to be very creative in doing anything.

Marlins are adamant that they won't trade Stanton.

And at this point, they probably shouldn't.

They're getting close to contention and he might be amenable to resigning if the Marlins show some commitment

It is a good deal for the Sox in that they get 2 picks....one with the deal and one after next year when YC elects to become a free agent.....

YC is a mistake pitch home run hitter.....which bods well in Fenway.....

    As for the A's?

    Lester
    Gray
    Hammel
Sazjmar-whatever how you spell his name.....

solid, I really hope they win it this year.....

Yeah they have no reason to trade Stanton right now, this year was his first arbitration year.....and given the Sox prospects at least for one year took a step back I dont see the Marlins rushing to make a deal right now....revisit this at this time next year...

For a .262/.318/.470 130-140 strikeout guy who is gone after next year? Playing in Fenway he will def put up better numbers to the point where he might hit over 30 home runs, but I am kinda surprised this is all they got for him....no elite level prospects......the picks the Sox will get make this deal the deal....and if Lester comes back then this deal is even better as you said, but I am sorry I am holding onto Jon Lester and extending him out over getting this hitter any day of the week....

Actuallllyyyyyyy this trade doesnt make even more sense now.....

thats probably why they got a Comp B (number 70) pick in the deal to begin with...

Marlins said they won't trade him during the season. I agree they probably shouldn't trade him but never count anything out with Miami.

That statement is false. Mookie Betts, Blake Swihart and Henry Owens have all taken big steps forward this year. All are top 50 prospects right now. The only top prospect that hasn't had a good year this year has been Matt Barnes.

I am talking about the ones who came up and **** the bed......so it would be wise not to rush into a trade, especially seeing you have a superstar stud in Stanton, to and see if allllllll these golden boys you guys have can put up some numbers in something other than the minor leagues is all I am saying....

If they kept Lester and he walked away at the end of the year they would probably get a pick in the 40ish range maybe for him. Now they get YC for at least 1 year and a Comp B pick.

Bogaerts is 21 years old and if the Sox put him out on the trade market today all 29 teams would be calling them up. He was the #2 prospect in all of baseball heading into the year. JBJ has actually rebounded nicely and has been hitting since June and has been one of the best defensive players in baseball this year, so even he has a lot of value left. Sometimes it takes players a little bit of time to be good (perfect example is Anthony Rizzo) as not every prospect comes up and hits right out of the gate.

Just because Bogaerts and JBJ struggled doesn't mean Mookie Betts will for example when he gets to play full time. Nor should it cause teams to back away from any Sox prospect either.

JBJ in his last 10 is hitting .156....post all-star has him at .200/.238/.275....so yeah I guess you can say he is rebounding.....XB is untradeable I have always said that, even on a Stanton deal.....

JBJ's last 10 games he's had struggles sure but still ended up hitting .278/.325/.347/.672 in July. Numbers aside the quality of his at bats since he changed his stance have been a big improvement. Again sometimes it takes a year or 2 to adjust to MLB pitching.

I'd be very surprised if the Rays traded him today but like I said earlier the longer they wait to trade him his trade value decreases by the day.
